Event Log: Is It a Wonderful Life?

Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

Um... I'm okay? I mean, I'm feeling a little better now that I'm out talking to people and stuff. It's been kinda rough, though. Like, not gonna lie, this is probably one of the hardest things I've personally dealt with since I got here.

Yes, this has been. . . disturbing. Generally, I do my best to resist when the so-called gods have their tricks, but I suppose this time we were all caught off guard.

Whatever it was you saw, I'm sorry.

It does seem like they're really pullin' out all the stops with this one, doesn't it?

It's... it's fine, this'll pass. It's not the first time I've had screwed up dreams since I got here, and it won't be the last. ...Which probably doesn't sound reassuring, but it totally is.

[just y'know trust him on that]

Indeed. [she sighs] They're likely famished after everything. As a result, we get to suffer all the more.

[she sounds uncertain] No, it's not. . . terribly reassuring?

[she's not going to pry, though]

I think after this, we all deserve a vacation.

[A shrug,] I just have a lot on my mind, I guess? And it doesn't really stop being on my mind even when I'm trying to sleep, so I really don't get a lot of sleep these days. It's actually getting kind of old, if I'm being honest.

What's a vacation?

You haven't gotten enough sleep? May I . . . may I ask about the cause?

That's, uh... Like, you take a break from your normal, every day life to maybe travel and relax for a while.

At first it was just, like, everything that had happened just before I got here was bugging me. I think I might have told you about that? But now it's all kinds of new stuff, like, stress mostly? I think?

[roseofthetyrells]

Oh. I'm afraid we don't really have those in Westeros. We have the concept of traveling for pleasure, but not the word for it.

You've told me some, of a terrible battle you were in. And is stress an uneasy feeling? [small, self-deprecating laugh] I'm afraid that's another word we don't have where I'm from.

[itsnotaonesie]

Umm... Uneasy, yeah. Like, the exact opposite of feeling calm, I guess? Uneasy, um, like you can't get yourself to sit still and relax because you're just... overwhelmed. Like, you feel like there's too much going on all at once, but it won't slow down.

[roseofthetyrells]

...ah. That is something I'm quite familiar with. But as queen, I was expected to remain in control at all times. Are you, too, expected to rein your feelings in?

[itsnotaonesie]

Not... not really? I mean, it's more something I expect myself to do than something other people expect me to do. Like, I've never had like, anger problems or anything? But even then I try not to let myself get too angry. Things like that I keep reigned in, just because I have the potential to be really dangerous if I'm not careful, or if I'm distracted by being pissed off. My powers are a big responsibility, and I have to keep my feelings in check because of it.

Holding one's feelings in check is difficult to start off with. Holding one's feelings in check here is a trial.

[itsnotaonesie]

Sometimes it's really difficult. I haven't had a problem with being angry yet, though. I think that's probably the most dangerous one, so I'd say I'm doing okay.

[thoughtfully] Rage doesn't seem to influence us as much as the others do. Perhaps she feeds well enough from the ambient anger in the background as it's likely we're all a little angry.

[itsnotaonesie]

You know what, that makes sense. We're probably all giving off low key rage vibes all the time, maybe that's why we don't have to deal with Rage too often. I'm pretty okay with that.

As am I. Many of the people here could be dangerous were they provoked by Rage.

[itsnotaonesie]

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. Like, not just because I know what I can do, but because I don't know what anyone else can do.

[roseofthetyrells]

I know that many here have powers far beyond the abilities of a normal mortal. However, I know not how many or what those abilities are.

What abilities do you have?

[itsnotaonesie]

Uh, okay. I'm really strong, like, really strong. That's the one I'm the most worried about, but I can also stick to pretty much any surface and climb walls and stuff, and I've kind of got a... I guess a sixth sense? Like, I can feel when something isn't right, like if something bad is about to happen or if I'm about to be attacked by something I can't see. It's really useful most of the time, but I'm still trying to get used to that ability.

Really? That's extraordinary! And it all sounds incredibly useful. Were you born with those abilities?

[itsnotaonesie]

No, no. I've only had them for a couple of years, got 'em from a spider bite.

[roseofthetyrells]

A spider bite? [she tilts her head quizzically] In my world, the only thing that happens when a spider bites is a painful welt.

[itsnotaonesie]

Yeah, that's normally the case where I'm from, too. This wasn't an ordinary spider. Aaand, that's about all I know about it, because I squashed it after it bit me.

[roseofthetyrells]

You--you squashed it? So you'll never know--oh. Oh my. [for some reason, probably because her emotions have been running high after she lost Maglor, that strikes her as completely hilarious and she starts to giggle] Oh my. I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but you squashed it!

[You know what, that's fine. Giggling is good, it's better than being miserable.]

It bit me! What do you do when a spider bites you? You smash it! It's a natural reaction! No spider's gonna bite me and get away with it!
