Welcome to Hadriel. Your first glimpse of your new home is maybe not the most welcome - you awaken on the floor of the colosseum, surrounded by sand and walls and... trees? Yes, trees. Along with you and the other newcomers, a number of Territorial Oaks have arrived in Hadriel. They look just like normal trees, except for those welcoming smiles - oh, and they don't like you at all. They move fast, hit hard, and if you manage to bring one down it'll go out in a large, dangerous explosion. This may have you rethinking your stance on clear-cutting.
While you're trying to avoid the trees, you might come across a few of the other things the Door has deposited in the colosseum for your (its?) entertainment. Namely, a bunch of toys that no one has played with in years. But maybe one of them will tickle your fancy?
Once you've finished indulging your 90's nostalgia, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

The Keyblade starts to boomerang back, but it's about the time that he feels someone bodily collide into him from the side. There's a surprised yell as they're both crashing and burning, Sora grabbing onto the "stranger's" shoulders to try and keep them upright and failing miserably. They hit the dirt and the Keyblade returns to him anyway. He's about to open his mouth to ask if this person's alright, but he doesn't even get that far as he immediately recognizes his companion.]
Riku! [Sora opens his mouth, doesn't quite let go of Riku's shoulders yet because finally someone (else) familiar, but at the same time he's immediately focused on the tree monster in front of them.] Are you okay? We need to take care of these guys before they go after anybody else.
[Look he'll explain everything else Later. This is a more important task.]

His eyes snap open and he brings up his head. ]
Sora?
[ What was he doing here? It's obvious that he's confused, but he follows Sora's eyes behind them, towards their creepily smiling adversary. By now, Riku's noticing that there are even more behind it. They can worry about the when and why's later; there were other people here that also might need protecting. ]
Right.
[ Riku pushes his hand on the ground, crouching and bringing his arm behind him before summoning Way to the Dawn into his grip. He looks ready to bolt forward. ]
I'm fine. You ready?
no subject
Ready. You take the bottom half, I'll take the top. [That's not even a question, really, seeing how he waits all of five seconds before he flashes another grin in Riku's direction like this is some kind of game and he rockets off. Using the tree's branches, he bounces up, activating Flow Motion to swing around the branch and smack one of the trees in the face, dodging as a branch swings back. Come along, Riku. Let's show these trees who's boss.]

[ The only words left before Riku springs off his feet, seconds behind Sora. The tree is still towering and smiling at them both, its roots huge and pulsing and alive. Riku bounces off of the same branch that came down on him and his little troll friend, gliding over the top of it as the magenta light of Flowmotion spins over his body.
As he approaches that creepy ass face, he swings his Keyblade back over his shoulder and gives a loud cry as he swings it again and again in perfect arcs, ending with a combo. The tree comes off in heavy splinters, ever smiling, but obviously being chopped up. It swings another heavy branch towards Riku, who manages a quick slide upward before it can throw him into a nearby wall. ]
Fire!
[ In mid-air, Riku aims the tip of Way to the Dawn at the tree's face, preparing to shoot a comet right for its smile. ]

As the ball of flame makes contact with the tree's face, there's a sound of victory from above as Sora moves to strike down again, the top half of the tree beginning to split in half and fall apart. Granted, a branch comes up and swats him away and Sora goes flying, but nothing a surprised grunt and an aerial recovery can't fix.]
Hey! [As he lands on a ledge nearby, he positions himself.] Take that! A strike raid sends the Keyblade whirling, connecting between the tree's eyes as fire renders it to ash and the whole thing starts to crumble.]

So-
[ -Aerial recovery. He's perfectly fine. Riku is still lucky that he managed to look behind him and see Sora perform that Strike Raid; he immediately leaps out of the way, just backward enough to catch his heel against a swinging branch and nearly send him plummeting down. He manages to grasp onto the branch before it happens, leaving himself swinging as the Strike Raid connects with the tree. Riku is grinning as the tree begins to disintegrate. ]
Nice!
[ He calls it out just loud enough for Sora to hear, letting himself drop down from the branch onto the floor. Big mistake.
Riku's grin falls away the moment that light begins to form underneath the tree's face, like a growing core of fire. There's the faint sound of whistling, like a geyser about to erupt. Oh no.
His reflexes only give him a chance to quickly throw out his hand in front of him. ]
Dark Shield!
[ And just as the tree combusts, spraying bits of wood and leaves and smoke, Riku's shield shines in front of him—panels of holographic light backed by a large ring. He squeezes his eyes closed and looks away as the blast skids him backwards and flashes light over the area. The wood pieces and splinters assail the front of his shield, but it's over just as quickly as it started. ]

His agility and recovery is his saving grace. He grins in Riku's direction, a triumphant little smirk as he recovers and the tree shakes and breaks. It doesn't last long before several things happen. One, Sora wallops the tree again just before he also notices the light. Two, he vaults away to a further corner of the area. And three, he doesn't have a shield to throw up immediately the way Riku does but he brings his Keyblade up to a guard stance and hopes for the best. From his place on the side, luckily he's not in full-view of the blast but the impact is enough to knock him off of his feet and straight down.
It's over just as soon as its started and Sora dashes forward toward Riku, keeping an eye out for their next target.]
There's still a lot of them left! [He's not ready to give up, but he's also not thrilled with these creepy-ass trees.] We need to get rid of them faster.
no subject
Riku looks back around them; he still hears the creaking and rushing of branches as the trees continue to assault the others in the colosseum. Riku reaffirms his grip on Way to the Dawn, taking a ready stance. ]
But we can't risk hurting anyone else in these explosions. Cutting them down while other people are around is no good.
[ He looks back to Sora. ]
We could corral them where no one is around. Use their own explosions against them. What do you think?
no subject
What, like throwing them into each other? [Hm.] Zero Graviza them so they can't move and we can attack until they blow up. Good plan?
[He doesn't like making Riku do everything, but he's not dumb. He knows his magic isn't as strong as it used to be now. It's just another thing he has to work around.]
no subject
Good plan. Once I get them up in the air, you go ahead and attack. Push them as far off as you can away from the people here so they don't get hurt. I'll use a Stopza if I have to.
[ Riku raises the fist of his free hand. Do it, Sora. ]
Let's go.
[ And hopefully, the second after Sora responds, Riku will bring his attention back to the adversaries in front of them and break off into a sprint. There aren't many things here to Flowmotion off of, but Riku can run and air slide just as quickly. He lets Sora go on ahead of him, keeping a short distance so that Sora can get a head start on the attacks.
When they're in the range of a few looming, creepily smiling trees—whose focus shifts to them immediately, their roots crawling them towards the two at an impossible speed—Riku skids to a dusty stop and rears up his Keyblade. ]
Gravity!
[ And there they go, wrapped in a ball of translucent light and spinning slowly and helplessly in the air. ]
no subject
He's keeping an eye on Riku and he's dodgerolling away when the gravity spell hits, a victorious laugh coming the moment he pops back up to his feet and watches the trees rotate before him. There's no time to admire their handiwork though. Instead, Sora does what he does best and charges ahead, delivering a flurry of strikes to push the trees closer together and away from the entryways of the arena and out of people's way.
The trees begin to splinter and fragment, wavering under Sora's hits and he's only waiting until the last second before he looks at Riku again.]
Stop the blast!
[Because he's going to deliver a few more strikes and he would rather not send splinters everywhere.]
no subject
Although the splinters and leaves flying out aren't a good side effect. They can handle those later; it matters that the trees are getting knocked to the edge of the Colosseum where they need to be. The blast will get huge depending on the numbers of trees nearby; they'll need to make sure the space around them is cleared out before that happens.
Riku gets a few swings at the trees himself using Flowmotion to propel himself towards the group of trees. He needs to replenish his magic, and attacking enemies is one way to do it. When he finally sees the spell wearing off, he's already on his feet and raising his Keyblade in the air when Sora calls out to him. ]
Move out of the way! [ And once he's sure Sora has- ] Stop!
[ His Stopza is powerful, but this combined with his Zero Graviza would mean he's need time to replenish his magic, unless they use items. He'll see how they fare after the Stop spell wears off; for now, all of the trees they have gathered are trapped in their time voids, the clocks above their heads ticking away. ]
no subject
Ready to finish this? [Beating up the trees and breaking them down while they're stopped means they have a limited amount of time, but he's also sure they can do this.] They're done for!
no subject
Ready! Come on! [ And immediately, Riku kicks off the ground and leaps into the air, jumping from the broken pieces of wood to accelerate towards their enemies, Flowmotion streaming from his skin and streaking behind him. When he finally reaches their enemies, he brings up his Keyblade above him and strikes down, on one of the trees, unleashing a shockwave that hits several around them. His slashes and combos continue—and Sora will hopefully be taking care of his share beside him. ]
no subject
Granted, the trees also begin exploding one by one and it's a race to dodge each combustion. Think you can keep up, Riku? Sora's doing his best. ]
