Welcome to Hadriel. Your first glimpse of your new home is maybe not the most welcome - you awaken on the floor of the colosseum, surrounded by sand and walls and... trees? Yes, trees. Along with you and the other newcomers, a number of Territorial Oaks have arrived in Hadriel. They look just like normal trees, except for those welcoming smiles - oh, and they don't like you at all. They move fast, hit hard, and if you manage to bring one down it'll go out in a large, dangerous explosion. This may have you rethinking your stance on clear-cutting.
While you're trying to avoid the trees, you might come across a few of the other things the Door has deposited in the colosseum for your (its?) entertainment. Namely, a bunch of toys that no one has played with in years. But maybe one of them will tickle your fancy?
Once you've finished indulging your 90's nostalgia, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

He sighs. Teenagers are so difficult. Even the nice ones.] I meant no offense, lad. [He might have asked someone, for all Tyki knows.] It is small, but the size can be altered. Just pull the screen to increase the map size. It's give you a better look at it. [While he's trying to be helpful, pull might be a confusing way to put it. But he's from the Victorian era, and although he's learned a lot about phones, he's still a newbie himself.]

'Pull'?
[ It's a little confusing, sorry Tyki... Riku isn't Victorian, but they didn't even have technology like this when Riku was exposed to the simulation of a Town.
Riku taps the screen until he's back at the map again, but he just seems to be sliding one finger down the phone screen again and again. He has to be doing something wrong. The screen isn't changing. Help him... ]

[Tyki pulls up the map on his own phone, and shows it to Riku. He could probably just show him on Riku's own phone, but he's not going to push boundaries with a strange teenager. And when he sees that Riku looking, he pulls the screen with his fingers, the map increasing in size because of it. And then he reverses the motion, to make it small again.]
Does that help? It's tricky at first, but these things are useful enough when you get used to them.

He frowns at it, scratching at the back of his head. Why didn't he think of this... ]
It does. [ He looks back to Tyki and nods, offering a small smile. ] Thanks. Guess it's not hard to tell that I just got here. [ He looks down at his phone again. ] And there's nothing like this where I come from.

It's just easier when he does it by killing monsters, not by socializing with newcomers.] You're not the only new arrival, at least. And hardly the only one who didn't have cellulars where they're from.

There's that, yeah. Sounds like you've had time to get used to them if you don't have these back home. [ He lets his phone rest at his side. ] How long have you been here?

Tyki thankfully has his dark side well enough under wraps for now. But it still lingers and threatens. And his stay in Hadriel has made it both easier and harder in turn to actually control him.]
I've been here a few months. It took me a couple of weeks to actually get used to the thing.[He honestly can't remember what month it was when he arrived. Or if it matters at all, in the end.]

I think I might end up in the same boat you were on. [ He pockets his phone. ] I'm Riku. Thanks for the help... [ Name? ]
