Welcome to Hadriel. Your first glimpse of your new home is maybe not the most welcome - you awaken on the floor of the colosseum, surrounded by sand and walls and... trees? Yes, trees. Along with you and the other newcomers, a number of Territorial Oaks have arrived in Hadriel. They look just like normal trees, except for those welcoming smiles - oh, and they don't like you at all. They move fast, hit hard, and if you manage to bring one down it'll go out in a large, dangerous explosion. This may have you rethinking your stance on clear-cutting.
While you're trying to avoid the trees, you might come across a few of the other things the Door has deposited in the colosseum for your (its?) entertainment. Namely, a bunch of toys that no one has played with in years. But maybe one of them will tickle your fancy?
Once you've finished indulging your 90's nostalgia, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers February 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

He's good. I think he's got patrol right now, but if you hang around you'll see him later. Maybe he'll show you his new painting, he keeps telling me not to peek.
Oh, the place is a little messier than the last time you were over, but it's... well. You'll see. A friend went overboard on something.

[ Which only makes a girl more curious, particularly since he hasn't shown Drake either.
But more immediately, what kind of overboard could someone have gone in a space that small?
She takes a sip of the coffee, taking in a deep breath as she savors the bitter, nutty taste. It's so much better than the ersatz served at Corbulo's mess hall.
She instantly feels guilty for the thought. ]
What have you been doing the past few days? [ A pause. ] ...I'm sorry I didn't check in.

[ When Chyler lifts her cup to her lips, Drake notices something worrying -- her hands look like she beat the hell out of something less than punch-friendly. He hesitates in answering her question as his gaze cuts back to her face. ]
The usual, really. Patrols and training and hanging out with friends... that's all there is to do right now, which is good. [ Does he ask? Hmm. ]
It's okay. Sometimes people need to adjust in their own way. Have you been alright?

[ She sees his look and covers one hand with the other, which doesn't do much to hide the damage. One hand is worse than the other, bandaged loosely, the bandage hiding bruises and healing, torn-up knuckles. Still, better to hide the naked hand with the one he can't properly see.
She can't quite look at Drake. ]
I've tried to stay busy. I found a knife in the armory. It's not quite the kind I'm used to, but it'll work.
[ More quietly, repetition: ] I've tried to stay busy.

[ He pulls the door to his spire open and holds it for Chyler, letting her in ahead of him. ]
I can show you how to wrap your hands, too.

[ She actually would, too. She misses training already. She misses the regimentation of Corbulo, which makes it hard not to think about it, even harder not to think about the way the place looked just before she came here. So many familiar, dead faces.
Chyler shakes her head, focusing on Drake instead of on thoughts that could lead down again into that darkness.
She looks down at her knuckles, wincing a little. ]
And that would... it would be a good idea.

Okay. A mocha and boxing wraps, coming right up. And you can think about what kind of weapons you want to learn -- knives are great, especially if you learn to throw, but you might want something a little longer range you don't have to let go of, too.
[ Next door is the one to their apartment, which is only slightly tidier than the last time Chyler was in it. Ephemera's painting is a constant thing, it seems like. Drake closes the door behind them and heads to the kitchen cupboards to find the cocoa. ]

She's absorbed enough in her thoughts that she aims wrong with a sip of her coffee and nearly spills it, catching herself at the last moment.
La la la that didn't happen what are you talking about. ]
Where's Ephemera?

Patrol, we're on staggered shifts today. The Guard's little short handed or I try to avoid that. Here.
[ He offers her a spoon to doctor her coffee with the cocoa. ]
