Intro Log: Ugh, Talk to the Hand

What: The intro log for February
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Welcome to Hadriel. Your first glimpse of your new home is maybe not the most welcome - you awaken on the floor of the colosseum, surrounded by sand and walls and... trees? Yes, trees. Along with you and the other newcomers, a number of Territorial Oaks have arrived in Hadriel. They look just like normal trees, except for those welcoming smiles - oh, and they don't like you at all. They move fast, hit hard, and if you manage to bring one down it'll go out in a large, dangerous explosion. This may have you rethinking your stance on clear-cutting.

While you're trying to avoid the trees, you might come across a few of the other things the Door has deposited in the colosseum for your (its?) entertainment. Namely, a bunch of toys that no one has played with in years. But maybe one of them will tickle your fancy?

Once you've finished indulging your 90's nostalgia, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Despite the fact he's spoken to Aqua all of five minutes as a child and maybe a bit more since arriving her, he's already edging her into the territory of "friend." He's staring back up at the shelves, tilting his head in thought as though debating what he should grab next.]

Donald and Goofy usually took care of that stuff. [Does Sora know how to cook? Not yet, not really.] Every world was different, but this one seems to have a little of everything. I don't know what else to get.

[He's subconsciously shopping for more than one person which doesn't help, but he's also fine with his box of cookies. He's also taking note of the name "Eraqus" and nodding along.] We never had training trips or anything like that. We taught ourselves until Master Yen Sid said we had to be tested for the mark of a true Keyblade master. [There's an inquisitive frown as he spots another weirdly-labeled box.] Still had to fend for ourselves though.

[...Sora, is there maybe something important you should tell Aqua? It'll occur to him in a bit, maybe.]

[Aqua blinks in surprise—he knows Donald and Goofy? But of course, it's not that surprising if he knows Mickey, too. It warms her heart to know that even more people are fighting for the light than she realized; Sora and Riku aren't alone.

But the rest of what he has to say makes her smile fade, even if he doesn't intend it to.]

That's...I'm sorry, Sora. You shouldn't have been without guidance. We should have been there for you.

[Her, Terra, Ventus. Master Eraqus.]

Huh? [He looks up then, a little surprised and uncertain where that's coming from.] That wasn't your fault though.

[He would say "it's okay" but that seems more important.] I'm a pretty fast learner anyway. We didn't really have time for training before the Darkness swallowed our island and split us up. Even though we got better, Master Yen Sid said I still have a lot of training to do.

[caeruleae]

[He's so brave, and has such a big heart. Aqua only wishes she could agree with him.]

That doesn't make it okay. [She shakes her head.] There are many things I would do differently if I could go back—if I'd known what was happening. And you're the one who's had to bear the consequences.

[...well. He can't exactly deny that even if it's still not Aqua's fault and he doesn't blame her or the other keybearers. Truthfully, Sora has wondered "why" before because he's well aware that the Keyblade didn't initially choose him. He knows that, and yet somehow they're in it for the long haul and there's no turning back.]

I don't think any of us could have known what would happen. [Definitely not Sora who still doesn't entirely know the ins and outs. Xehanort's plan was complicated and convoluted and something that frankly pissed Sora off, but that's a whole other story. Instead, he straightens up and looks Aqua in the eye. Or as close as he can given she's still taller, but whatever.]

We're going to fix everything together. There's a lot that I wish hadn't happened, but once we bring back everyone that we need to and change it, we can stop Xehanort and things can go back to the way they were.

[A peaceful-ish time, he means. Somehow, though, it's when he says "bring everybody back" that he seems to finally remember something important and his eyes widen.]

But Riku's here! [Thanks Sora.]

[caeruleae]

[She has to believe that he's right. Even now, outside of its realm, the darkness can still reach her heart. But Sora has to be right—they can save everyone who needs it, they can come together and stop Xehanort for good, they can wake Ventus and save Terra—]

I'm sorry, what?

[Oops.]

Riku's here. [He continues giving her a wide-eyed stare.] I went back to the arena and he was there! We just split up again.

[caeruleae]

He is?

[Automatically, she turns her head in the direction of the arena—but no, he can't still be there. Sora wouldn't have left his friend alone with monsters.]

I'd very much like to meet him—do you know where he is now? Maybe the three of us could talk.

After we beat up a bunch of those trees in the coliseum we split up. He went to check out town first and we were both trying to find you. [So. Guess who still doesn't know how to just call people on the phone?] He can't be too far.

[caeruleae]

[Guess who also hasn't internalized the always-reachable aspect of cell phones? Some Master she is.]

Perhaps we could look together? Oh—but I don't want to interrupt your shopping.

[crownnecklace]

[Kingdom Hearts: the canon where children can fly massive spacecraft but not know how a phone works.]

It's not really interrupting. I'm just getting stuff for me and Riku. [He's already sort of assumed they're going to stay together.] I think he went to find something for his clothes. We were fighting those monsters for a while...

[caeruleae]

[It's true but you shouldn't say it.]

Ah. They're different from the Heartless, aren't they?

[Messier.]

The Unversed, too.

And the Nobodies. [A nod of confirmation.] I've noticed that, too. Somebody said all kinds of monsters come through that door but I don't think there's any way of knowing what's coming next. The Heartless might be next.

[Which like. No thanks.]
