[It doesn't take a lot to get Scott on board, especially once he's aware that there's no plan to hurt the Nautilus and just capture them. He doesn't feel right but he keeps telling himself to suck it up, then he realizes he sounds like his dad and that honestly gives him another worry to focus on for the time being, so it works out.
Once everyone is gathered and it seems like a plan is in place there isn't much to be said or done. They certainly have an interesting group here; diverse, odd, ragtag, but that's a familiar feeling, so there's a comfort in it.
He clasps his armored hands together.]
Right, well, what could possibly go wrong?
construction
[Just because Scott was feeling weird and iffy about this whole thing didn't mean he wasn't going to give it his best efforts to help. He decided to himself that while he would rather not kidnap one of these creatures they barely know anything about on the off(?) chance that this was a big misunderstanding and they don't actually want them all dead (let him be optimistic) he also came to the conclusion that it was likely the best way to get answers. They did have a few people get attacked and killed, after all. Necessary. It's necessary.
Either way, those troubling thoughts somewhat out of the way, Scott is focusing a lot of his efforts right now into helping with construction of these cages. He'll most likely be using his biotics to hold up large pieces in place while you or anyone affixes them to where ever, or just moving around large pieces in general. His body bathes in a light blue glow as he does so, though sometimes he needs a break. This is a lot more of a strain than it looks, okay?]
Hope these things are going to be sturdy enough.

[feel free to hit Scott up during any phase of the plan. I just went with what I could come up with prompts for, honestly! He'll be all around helping where he can. Contact me at
Option 1!
and she fucking blows at being social.
but. whatever.
she can't resist a question like that. don't ask her to]
Should I begin or end with "everything?"
no subject
You were supposed to say, "nothing, this is all going to run smoothly".
[It's clear he doesn't believe that but hey, humor is how he copes.]
no subject
Pfft! I don't know about you, but I've been here long enough to know better.
The name's George. Who're you?
[and sarcasm is her defense mechanism. it's worked great for the past eighteen plus years, she sees no reason to fuck with success]
no subject
I think Murphy's Law is universal. Or multi-universal.
[Though Scott's pessimism all comes from a joking place most of the time. He's optimistic so far that this might not go horribly. They have a solid plan, people with varying talents, he's sure they have this.]
Scott. Haven't been around very long but "everything goes to shit" certainly seems like a reoccurring theme. I'm getting good vibes from this group, though.
[Of course at the end of the day he defaults to encouraging and hopeful.]
no subject
Absofuckinglutely it is. Here more than anywhere.
[she's a little more unsure as of everyone, she's only met Newt, Alphys, and Michael so far. she's going to be using herself as bait with a bunch of people she doesn't know will be able to come to her defense before a limb gets chopped off. but she does have an ace in the hole...]
Hi, Scott. Nice to meet you. And I"m glad somebody is.
[and she defaults to pessimistic and sarcastic]
no subject
I dunno, helpful?
[Even he has to kind of chuckle at how bad that was. Well, he tried.]
no subject
Yeah. I guess that word works. Everyone here is very helpful. Except for the occasional asshole, but fuck 'em.
[not literally. dear god, not literally]
no subject
You're speaking my language, George.

[Is that uncertainty? From Newt??????? The sky is falling, the apocalypse is nigh, etc. etc.
Newt has been largely playing overseer while the others are in the lab. He's hands-on when he's alone, but it's better for everyone if he just coordinates while he's got company. They'll get better work done if he's not nitpicking their every move, which he himself is willing to admit. Besides, he's done plenty of heavy lifting through drafting up blueprints and dismantling his other cages to provide more parts. It's not like he's slacking off.
Even if that looks like what he's doing now. He's leaning against one of the empty workstations that's been temporarily shoved out of the way to make space for building, and has been for a while. He's sipping on the dregs of Hadriel's nearest approximation to a Rockstar.]
But I don't see a way to reinforce these beyond what we're already doing. We don't have the materials for anything stronger, and we still need the things to be, like, portable.
no subject
He's taking a pause right now, his head feeling a little light. With his inability to consume the amount of calories he should be as a biotic here he hasn't been in the most tip top shape. It's an issue he's been ignoring, hoping it'll go away. Not like there's much he can do about it anyway.]
Hopefully It won't be strong enough to break out. [He swipes the back of his hand over his forehead.] Worst comes to worst we can try and, uh, disorient it somehow. Or weaken it to reduce its struggling. There's enough of us...and I can stop it from moving temporarily.
[He winces as he says that. Was that fucked up? That sounds fucked up to him.]
no subject
[Newt feels like he knew that somewhere in the back of his mind, but there's a lot of moving parts to keep track of. He hasn't actually managed a team of this size in a while, and even then, labs back home tended to be more... Structured. Not a bunch of randos building crap out of garbage with little to no information to go on.]
How does that ability work on, like, living stuff?
no subject
Depends on the size and how much they struggle. Someone like you or me, [Humanoid, he means.] I could lift pretty easily. But I don't exactly have the energy reserves I need here and biotics can be unpredictable as is.
[He quickly adds on:]
Not that I don't have good control over mine. I do.
no subject
How unpredictable are we talking? It's not going to go haywire and blow this plan on us, is it?
no subject
[JOKING ASIDE...
Actually he's got nothing after that.]
no subject
[That's only moderately reassuring.]
Does the biotic run on your own energy? You'd better get plenty of rest before we actually try this thing.
no subject
It's a physically demanding task to generate dark energy, but I know how to pace myself. Moving things and holding them still are some of the less strenuous things.
[It's mostly all the other stuff that gets kinda dicey, and he's fairly certain he's not going to be charging full force or creating big waves to smash things. Totally fine!]
(no subject)
first option!
I mean, uh. We could all die? And then they'd have to send a party out after our bodies or we probably can't get revived.
[Cheery.]
no subject
Is that all? And here I thought it would be something devastating.
no subject
I guess that depends on how much you like the other people here.
[Two can play at the dry sarcasm thing.]
Realistically, though, it shouldn't go that badly. There's... I mean there's at least a lot of us. They can't kill us all.
[Right? Right.]
no subject
Has anyone ever told you that you have a real gift for looking on the bright side of things?
no subject
[Well, he has been told that. But only sarcastically.]
no subject
[Count Scott among the ones who would mean it sarcastically. But look, that's fine, that he understands.]
no subject
[At least they're speaking the same language, here.]
I'm Michael, by the way. I always forget you're supposed to introduce yourself at the start of the conversation.
no subject
[You know it's an interesting first meeting when you don't know the other person's name until a few minutes in. At least, that's how he sees it.]
I'm Scott.
