Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Regardless I was still without my sword, which I do intend to fix.

[Because Tazendra assumes Usashin recognized not only her species but her caste, which is reason enough not to help her: she should be able to fight.]

Unless you can fix the problem within the next five minutes, you may encounter more trouble getting out of here unscathed.

[Where one of those big beasts were, another was bound to follow. He could leave her. He should leave her. She's an Ellyl, a source of constant hatred stemming back for over a thousand years. Maybe he's just growing soft being away from home, but there's a prick at his conscience even as he considers leaving her behind.]

I cannot.

[She's going to pick up one of the heavier metal coathangers, but it still does little more than add a bit of weight to a punch. Tazendra really hates being helpless, especially when others are around. Not just being seen as incapable, but seeing others get hurt when she cannot intervene is miserable to her.]

[ushahin]

[Ushahin unsheathes the sword at his side. He holds it out to Tazendra. It is a broadsword, made of good steel and crafted by a skilled hand.]

Here. I have no doubt you can wield it better than I.

[His knowledge of sword-fighting was largely theoretical, having watched one of the greatest swordsmen his world had ever known wield his blade for over a thousand years. It's not like he's leaving himself unarmed. As long as he has his mind, he's got a weapon at his disposal.]

[Tazendra took it, stepping back to test the weight and balance on it.]
