Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Arya simply gazes back, a little more solemnly than a normal 12 year old probably would. She's seen that sort of shock before. It'll pass.

Arya shrugs. ]

Fear may have put these here. I'm sure it didn't take much effort, not when he's capable of burying someone alive or causing a blizzard.

[ Arya slips a leg in her pocket. ]

So it's our job to find their use.

[pullback]

I assume that Fear is someone's name?

[ because it certainly can't be a representation of an abstract concept, that'd be silly. ]

How could he cause a blizzard?

[whichend]

Fear is the name of a god. [ Arya says 'god' with some venom in her voice. She doesn't much like Fear. ] And he can do that because he and the other gods control the city.

[pullback]

And I suppose these gods don't care if you don't believe in them or not. [ Because yeah, homeboy's a few steps away from being straight up atheist. ]

[whichend]

They don't need to care. They speak to us instead. Not through prophecy -- through these.

[ Arya pulls her phone out and shows it to Victor. ]

The glowing boxes, on a thing called "the network."

[pullback]

[ Congrats Arya, you're the first person to show him the network. So Victor can't help but frown as he looks at her phone. ]

What is that?

[whichend]

I told you. A glowing box.

[ Duh. Arya isn't too indignant, though. She understands Victor's confusion. ]

Check your pockets. You should have one too.

[pullback]

[ Victor rummages through his like fifty billion coat pockets...before pulling out said glowing box. Almost instantly Victor starts to poke at it, attempting to take the damn thing apart. ]

Well, at least they gift us with...something.

[whichend]

[ Arya stands on tiptoe, shaking her head. ]

No, you use it like this. See?

[ She guides Victor's hand, helping him write his first text message. What a milestone. ]

[pullback]

[ It is definitely a milestone. And Victor's just looking at the communicator like "holy shit wow." ]

I assume this device works via some sort of morse code?

[whichend]

[ Arya watches Victor, mildly amused. ]

Perhaps. I don't really know how it works.

[pullback]

[ Sorry Arya, he's paying a good 100% of his attention to the communicator, not to her. ]

Once I figure out how it works, you shall be the first I'll tell.

[ because yeah...he's gonna take his apart. ]

[whichend]

[ Arya nods, and turns to leave. She figures the man is good and occupied. ]
