hadriel_logs | Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Being trapped in a cave is a really crappy adventure. Besides, there are monsters in here. You'd better watch out for them -- they're pretty dangerous.

Um...well, without them I find it fun! I lived underground so it's like home! Just without Mother and Father.

[So they're making the most of it, at least until they learn everything they could about this place.]

...so you're here on your own?

You gonna be OK by yourself?

[* There we are!]

I am, but it's okay! I'm very strong. Like my Father always said, "Stay Determined!"

[They're not lying about their strength, at least.]

...okay, if you're sure.

[One thing about Ichigo Kurosaki is that if someone says they're going to be fine, unless he's got real reason to believe otherwise, he's inclined to let them be. Besides, there's something about this kid that makes Ichigo inclined to believe them when they say they're strong.

Still...it couldn't hurt to keep an eye out, right?]

What's your name?

I am Chara. What's your name?

[Oddly formal for a kid but they've got nothing but fondness for speaking that way. They took after their mother, in that respect.]

I'm Ichigo.

[Cool. He's got a name and a description, so if this kid gets into trouble, Ichigo's got a solid chance of finding them again. He crouches down to get closer to Chara's level.]

Listen, be careful. Those monsters are probably still out there, and they could be hiding anywhere, so keep your eyes open, okay? Stick to the buildings where people are and don't wander off.

[It's...interesting to be eye to eye with another human. Monsters came in all sorts of shapes and sizes so it was inevitable that they either had to look up or down, but they usually were like this. Humans didn't bother.]

Okay, I can do that. I will see if I can stay somewhere for awhile.

[That was something they needed to consider, actually. They heard housing was available but they didn't know if one simply claimed ownership or otherwise.]

What about you? Are you going to be okay?

[He smiles at this child of indeterminate gender.]

Don't worry about me. I've got plenty of practice fighting things like that. I'll be fine.

[It's not the broad grin it would have been if he'd still had his shinigami powers. Ichigo knows he's much weaker than he's used to being right now, and he and Seta together barely managed to deal with one of those things. If he runs into more than one, or if they catch him alone...

It hurts to feel powerless.

But he gives the kid a smile anyway.]

[Chara smiles back sweetly. This could work out in the long run! Being friends with people sure was something.]

Okay, but I can help you with small stuff. Even if it is not beating up monsters I can do small things. Like baking.

[Chara no, you know what happened last time.]

[He blinks at her.]

Well -- I guess if you wanted to come over sometimes, that'd be okay. A kid like you shouldn't be wandering around alone all the time, anyway.

[Checking in with the kid every once in a while is something Ichigo was totally not already planning to do, no sir, why do you ask?]

Apparently, all the empty houses here are up for grabs, so you can stay wherever you want as long as somebody's not in there already.

Heheh. You sound like Mother.

[If a lot less formal. But hey, that wasn't a problem.]

Ah, well I'll try to find one! That should be easy.

I do not.

[He pulls a frown that's got no real bite behind it. Ichigo's sure he doesn't sound like anybody's mother, thank you very much.]

It's a good thing!

[But you'd have to be Chara to say that with a straight face. They're getting tired of this for now.]

I think I'm going to look for a place to stay. Are you going to stay out here a bit longer?

[Ichigo pulls a face at that. No it's not, it's embarrassing. But whatever, Chara's a kid, he can't be mad.]

Yeah. The cave doesn't look too big, so I thought I'd look around some more. I want to have a good idea of where everything is so that if monsters turn up again, I won't run straight into danger by accident.
