Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

I think we have to take care of this first.

[She glances over her shoulder at the creature, staring uneasily.]

[dedikated]

[ It seems so. God only knows how mind. Kate's eyes narrow and her jaw tightens, teeth grinding together as she mentally takes stock of what she packed in her weapons bag. It isn't a lot, really - since the fog a couple of weeks back, she's been avoiding fighting and avoiding Rage's armoury as well.

Which means she's feeling a little like she did the first time she was in here. Underequipped. But somehow less ready to fight than she was that day.

... All she can do is trust her aim. ] Not got a lot of ammo for this. [ But she'll aim a shot at its eye anyway. ] Get ready to run. [ And she means full on sprint. ]

[knifecollecting]

[Jo nods once, taking a deep breath.]

I'm ready. Do it.

[dedikated]

[ And-

fuck, there it goes.

Whatever else anyone can say about her, they can't deny that she's a good shot. That veers only slightly away from the centre of the thing's eye, but Kate doesn't even take the second to take that in. She would much rather sprint out of here - but she holds back from doing too much more than a human could.

Which is frustrating, but what are you going to do? ] The fuck is with these things? [ Gritted out between breaths. Seriously, the difficulty level got turned way up this month. ]

[knifecollecting]

[Jo doesn't wait to watch the shot land. She waits three seconds after the trigger pull and takes off after Kate. This feels familiar, even if she's usually the one who pulls the trigger.]

Hell if I know.

[dedikated]

[ Well, at least some things remain the same no matter which universe you're dragged into. Kate makes a sharp left through the tunnel, following a path that seems lighter.

And also very devoid of monsters. Is that a good sign? Who knows? ]

[knifecollecting]

[Jo forces herself to keep moving, knowing that she has to keep up.

The path is easier to see and it seems clear but she won't let herself slow down. She's too nervous at this point.]

Is it much further?

[dedikated]

No. [ She can see the outdoors, not that it is all that much lighter, but light enough to be different. And as far as Kate can hear, nothing seems to be following them, so... victory?

She exhales with relief when she steps into the city proper. ]

[knifecollecting]

[Jo glances over her shoulder when they reach the street. Is that it?]

Are we safe?

[dedikated]

[ That's a good question. At least there seems to be fewer of those fuckers than there were of those fucking eyeballs. So maybe they are? ]

... For now. [ Yeah, by the tone in her voice, Kate's finding that a very temporary situation. ] Let's get away from this place. [ The other side of the city seems like a safe bet? Safer... bet? ]

[knifecollecting]

Great. [Jo works to catch her breath as she surveys the scene around her. This place is...like nothing she's seen before.]

Where are we headed?

[dedikated]

[ It's strange how quickly you adjust, though. Kate doesn't even seem to blink at the sight of all the curved buildings and rubble any more. ] Mm. There's a spire nearby if you want to find a place to sleep. Clinic's not far, either. [ A beat. ] Could always head further out. [ Because there are some very ominous sounds coming from behind them, in the Colosseum. ]

[knifecollecting]

[She isn't tired enough to sleep but she would like to rest somewhere safe.]

Take me to the spire?

[dedikated]

[ She was more talking in general, but you know. Kate doesn't always think about words and meanings. ]

Sure. This way. [ She turns sharply, heading for a path that goes around the Colosseum. She wasn't kidding when she said it was nearby, either. It's plain to see as soon as you turn in that direction. ]

What's your name, anyway?

[knifecollecting]

[Jo nods, looking ahead, and- yeah, that is closer than she thought it would be.]

I'm Jo. Thanks for the help getting out of there.

[dedikated]

Kate. [ And she waves off the thanks as they get up to the spire. ] Should be some free places in here. Just see what's open. [ And hope it isn't open because someone's actually in. ] The top floor's occupied. [ And a... hell of a way up. But Kate likes the view, and Carlisle is probably glad that it makes people less likely to visit. ]

[knifecollecting]

I'll check it out. [She nods. She probably wouldn't want to live on the top floor anyway.]

I think I'll be fine from here.

[dedikated]

Reet. [ She should probably get back to work anyway. ] Anything happens, the clinic is [ She gestures back towards the Colosseum. ] Opposite the Colosseum. [ It's pretty painted, so it's not exactly... easy to overlook. ]

[knifecollecting]

[So there's something here in case of emergency. Good to know.

Jo nods.]
