Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!
But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.
Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

"Sorry, man. Just worked up." Rin gives a warmer smile, hopefully that'll ease Amos a little bit. "I'm Rin Okumura. Nice to meet you."
He holds a hand out to Amos to show he means no harm.
no subject
Soon as the hand comes off the sword hilt Amos is grinning, bright and friendly, and when Rin holds out a hand, Amos drops his own and steps forward to shake hands.
"Hey, no biggie. This place is pretty alarming. I'm Amos. Nice to meet you, too."
He'd laugh at Rin categorizing him as 'kid', being older than he generally looks. "Need any directions or anythin'? since you're new here an' all."
no subject
And then he gets called a newbie, and his face quickly changes to one of shocked confusion.
"New? Nah, man, I..." Well, technically he is. It's only been what, a month? And he is still getting the hang of this place. Rin gives a mild groan at the thought. Doesn't hurt to at least understand where you're at, right?
He gives another soft smile.
"Well, actually, I haven't gotten the official rundown on this place yet. What can you tell me?"
no subject
"Oh, sorry. It's just that it's time for the newbies to be arriving an' I don't think I've met ya before."
Amos thinks he might remember meeting someone whose ears are pointed, after all, and he's not sure if that's a hint of a fang or not....but he's not going to ask and certainly won't say nothing. His world had more than a few nonhumans pretending to be such, and where he comes from being polite and minding your manners increases your chances of living a long and unenchanted life.
"I don't think there's an official rundown? But I guess if you've been here for a bit you know 'bout the gods an' the doorway."
no subject
"A...little?" He's still a little confused as to what these things are. "I remember some guy named Fear, and how he wanted us to tell scary stories or something." Not that he really did anything for it. Scaring wasn't really his gig. He's already scary enough without any help.
He hasn't exactly gone around asking questions to figure out what these beings are, either. So... Yea, gathering information is a need-to-know basis for Rin.
no subject
"Ah. Well." Amos makes a slight face as he contemplates the best phrasing. "So, Fear opened a magical doorway that started dragging in people an' monsters. He an' Hope don't know how it works or how to send us back, so Hope's resurrecting all the rest of 'em as were dead sos he can find someone to send us back home. Until them, we're all kinda stuck here in the cave."
That seems a nice concise summary, Amos thinks.

He thinks he's got it... Kinda? Maybe? Uhm...
"So... Fear is how I got here? Through a magic doorway? Don't we use keys for those...?" Come to think of it, he fondles his pockets for his key that opens the doorway to Exorcist Classes for him. ...Nothing, damn. So much for that theory.
But what's worse is what follows. They don't know how to send us back.
"Shit... So nobody here has ever made it back home?!" Rin's trying not to freak out, and he might be failing at it.
no subject
"Well, not yet, but I'm sure it won't be too long," Amos answers, tone dropped to confident and soothing, a little grin still on his face. See, Rin, all is well, no need to freak out. Amos dislikes having to deal with people freaking out. He can but dude is it ever not fun. "I ain't yet run across a key for a magic doorway, though I've run across a lotta other stuff, where I'm from. You got magic keys where you're from, Rin?" So a change of subject is not much of a distraction, but it's all he's got at the moment.
no subject
Luckily, Amos' question succeeds at distracting him from the distress of being stuck here.
"Huh? Oh... Yea, sort of? I only had one, my brother has a whole bunch. The Exorcists get to go everywhere." He says the last line with a tinge of jealousy. Someday, he'll be the best Exorcist there is and have all the keys!
no subject
"Exorcist, hmm? You look a little young to be a priest," Amos says, angling for more information with a friendly smile and cheerful interest. This sounds very intriguing, and similar to home, though not many priests of the Judeo-Christian branch mingle magic items among their tools. But Amos has met all sorts and heard a wide spread of beliefs, and wants to know what's up with Rin's version.

"We did grow up in a monastery, though." So, maybe that counts? "I'm going to beat my brother someday and become a Paladin, just like my old man! And then I'll show everyone that I'm the best and I'll kick Satan's ass!"
Despite all that he's got going against him, he's pretty excited at the idea of becoming a Paladin. Just so he can prove that Father Fujimoto wasn't wrong about him, for saving him.
