Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!
But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.
Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
yes good, perfect
Maybe that's why she turns back around to investigate - some far-flung grasp for hope that maybe, maybe what she saw was wrong. Sam steps back into the doorway, squinting into the distance.]
... Mike?
no subject
Sam!
[ He makes a beeline for her, Wolfie following at his heels. ]
What the hell? I told you guys to wait at the lodge!
no subject
It can't be Mike, but somehow, impossibly, it's him. Sam's field of vision wavers for a moment; she takes a deep breath and forces her eyes to focus.
It's Mike. And ... a dog? No, not quite a dog. Something else.]
The lodge?
[Sam shakes her head. She blew it up. She didn't exactly see it happen, but she felt the blast, the heat of the flames licking at her back. Then nothing, until she woke up here and now.
Something about this isn't right, and considering what's happened in the past several hours? That says a lot.]
Who's your friend?
[She nods, indicating the wolf. Clearly, that's the most important question at hand.]
no subject
This is Wolfie. It's all right, he's trained. He belongs [ belonged ] to that old guy with the flamethrower.
Sam, what's going on?
no subject
[Somehow, she can't even pretend to be surprised. Still, if he's friendly, that's probably fine. Sam falls into a crouch on the ground and holds her hand out, palm down - it's what you do when you meet a dog for the first time, and aren't wolves and dogs related? Everything she's ever read said not to approach a wolf, but that was for wolves in the wild, not those that have been trained.]
I don't know, Mike. I just woke up here, and -
[And you're supposed to be dead, and so is everyone else. Everyone except Emily and me - we made it out alive.]
It's not the mountain. I'd think we were rescued, but they wouldn't just drop us in the middle of somewhere else, right?
no subject
[ Two wolves, really, but better not to mention that. Wolfie sniffs at Sam's hand, then nudges it, and circles her. ]
No, I guess they wouldn't — have you seen one of those things anywhere? There's more than one, Sam, there's like... twelve.
no subject
[The latter an almost-whisper directed at the wolf. To answer Mike's question, Sam shakes her head.]
The wendigos? Not in the whole five minutes I've been conscious. You actually counted them?
[There were three in the lodge, plus the one Sam took out with the shovel down in the mines. However many more Mike blew up in the sanatorium, she isn't sure.]
There shouldn't be any more coming.
no subject
[ He got two, but that doesn't even make the number single digits. ]
I don't see one around here, though, nothing except those guys.
[ Pointing to a Tonberry. ]
no subject
I don't think I want to wait around and see if any of them show up - or to find out if those are friendly. I think we need to find a phone or a radio tower or something and call for help.
no subject
I found this in my pocket.
[ He holds out the communicator he found in his pocket. ]
There's all kinds of weird shit on it, I didn't read too far.
no subject
[Obviously, if he didn't already call for help using it. Curiously, there's a slight bulk in one of her own pockets, and she fishes out an identical phone to the one Mike has.]
What the hell? This isn't mine.
no subject
[ He shakes his head. ]
Do not tell me there's a portal to another dimension on that mountain along with the other shit.
no subject
[At this point, Sam is inclined to believe anything's possible. She tucks her new phone back into her pocket, shaking her head.]
Well, we're not going to find out by just standing around here.
no subject
[ He waves to Wolfie. ]
Here boy.
no subject
[She nods, and takes off in that direction - not quite at a run, but a brisk pace nonetheless.]
no subject
[ He swallows. ]
Wolfie's trained to hunt them, I think. He'll let us know if we're in danger.
no subject
[Out of the group of them, Sam would probably have been voted most likely to, not Mike.]
