Intro Log: Don't Wake Tonberry

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

"Another har?" She doesn't recognize the term. Now she's curious.

"If you can't, there are houses and I think there are a few places in the spires still available." She points towards the tall buildings in the distance.

Huh. That's interesting. Maybe she doesn't know whoever is here. Or maybe they've tried to pass themselves off as male or female?

"Hold on." Flick closed his eyes quickly, and reached out, trying to sense the ripples of selves, beyond humanity. There he was. Pell? Confusion washed over him. It looked like the rumors were true. Pell had come back from the dead. Or he wasn't dead to begin with.

"Pell. Pellaz Cevarro." He paused, trying to figure out how to explain what he was. "I'm not human. A har is...." Never before in his life did he think he'd ever have to explain what he was. "I used to be human. A boy actually. And then I was changed, like Pell, into a har. Wraeththu. Hara are hermaphroditic beings." He looked at her, hoping he didn't completely scare her off.

"Oh, I know Pell!" He hadn't mentioned much about his past and Jo had never felt like prying. Everyone here had such different stories... Someday she wanted to hear them but she could wait.

"He helped me when I first got here. You have powers too?" This is the thing she's adjusting to here. Back home, powers were bad. They meant that thing was going to try to kill you, but here people with powers helped and she was still wrapping her head around it.

"You do!? I wouldn't say I have powers. Most hara do, I just haven't developed mine as much as some have. Like Pell. But I'm a pretty good cook and I do plumbing! " Flick gave her a light smile, before continuing. "I tended to focus on more useful things. At the time, training my mental abilities seemed like more of a waste of time when there was electrical work to be done or the toilet needed fixing. But I've got more experience with trance work."

Flick looked her over. She was human. But here that didn't necessarily mean she didn't have abilities. "What about you?"

"The cooking will come in handy." She laughs quietly. She's curious about what trance work means, but that can come later. Maybe.

"Oh, me? I don't have any powers."

"Well I'd be happy to cook for you. It's nice to have a full table." Flick looked at her weapons. "I wouldn't say you don't have any powers. Yours are just different."

She follows Flick's eyeline and laughs quietly.

"Eh, holding a knife isn't much of a power. Maybe a skill." But she sees those as two completely different things.

"Sometimes I think people see differences between powers and skills where there really are none. What's the difference, really?" He gave her a smile.
knifecollecting: (Do I wanna know?)

"I mean, it's not magic." And that's the difference, as far as Jo sees it.
