Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Cute monsters, a way to pass the time, and plenty of newbies!

Waking up in Hadriel certainly has its down sides, but if this weird murdercave city is good at one thing, it's keeping people entertained. As you awaken on the hard ground of the colosseum, you might see a rectangular cardboard box lying near you. Ignore it for now, as you get your bearings, but if you get bored? Well, you'll find these exciting and unique board games will keep you entertained!

But how could you possibly get bored, when there are plenty of cute monsters around to keep you company? Sharing the colosseum with all the new arrivals are Tonberries. In addition to their natural cuteness defense, they also carry very large knives. They're slow-moving and look innocent and even friendly, but be careful - one strike from that knife and you'll be a bloody mess. They won't attack unless you get too close, but who doesn't want to hug a Tonberry? And of course, if you attack, they'll counter with extreme prejudice.

Managed to resist the urge to hug a Tonberry? Safely escaped from the clutches of the colosseum, new board game in tow? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Well, yeah, the monsters suck, but uh... Not them as much as the shit the gods pull.

[It's weird to even thing about, but Chris is a whole lot less bothered by monsters now than he ever thought possible.]

( oh, good. things worse than monsters. look what you're doing to this poor cinnamon roll, Chris. )

Uh, really? 'Cause those things had knives.

( he can kind of believe it, but. he doesn't want to believe it. help. )

[Sorry bro but it's like jumping into a cold pool. Best to do it all at once.]

Uh, yeah. I mean, some of the god-stuff is fine and whatever, but some of it's way worse than the arena monsters.

... Like what?

( he's so gonna regret asking that. )

[Chris hesitates, despite that he thinks it's best for Matt to know. The wendigo thing is a little too much to throw at him at once, and Chris doesn't much want to talk about the buried alive event, but there's another one that comes to mind and illustrates the danger clearly enough.]

Well um, there was the time Rage made people want to kill each other for like a week. I'm not sure if anyone actually died, but um, there were some close calls.

[Some really close calls, and he doesn't want to think much about those either.]

( ... yeah he's definitely regretting asking that. so just. give him a minute. a long minute. several minutes. there's so much he's already learned, about this place, about how far behind in their timeline he is-

and now this.

can he just go back to football practice? like. just rewind time to Josh's mountain invite and stop him. )

What the fuck? That's- that's messed up.

( that's all he's got. )

[Okay, maybe he was wrong on the idea of getting the shock out of the way; Matt looks a little too shocked. So Chris avoids what he first wants to say, which is that it gets even more messed up, and instead nods a little.]

Yeah. The gods um, pull something usually like twice a month, so just be careful if anything suddenly seems out of the ordinary or whatever. If you hear people talking about events, that's what they mean.

[But now that that's covered--]

I should uh... Probably let you get back to trying to find something that counts as food, though.

[If he still has an appetite.]

( yeah, Em did a lot of info dumping earlier. he'll need to have some time to sleep on all of it, to work it out in his own head before he can take any more. )

Yeah. Uh. Thanks.

( but the info is appreciated. it can't be easy to turn up here with no clue and no one to explain. )

[Chris lingers awkwardly a moment, thinking of just saying he'll see Matt around and being done with it, but instead he suddenly feels he should add--]

As much as it um, sucks for everyone here, I know Em's really glad you showed up.

[Not that he's talked to her since, what with her and Matt being all hidden away, but he remembers very clearly how many times Emily's talked about missing Matt and wishing she had a chance to make things up to him for what happened on the mountain. Chris isn't so sure she needs to, but he is sure that having Matt here will make a lot of things easier on her.]

( he nods, a slight flush covering his cheeks, because. yeah, she's shown that.

this place could always be worse, he supposes. )

[Chris grins at that, his work here done, then offers a small wave and disappears back into the living room.]
