Everything seems more or less normal in Hadriel on the 14th - at least at first. But wait, who's that over there? Why are they walking so weird? Are they feeling okay? Wow, did they just try to bite you? Oh shit, you might've seen a movie like this before. That was definitely a zombie.
But hey, it's no big deal. A few zombies here and there are pretty easy to avoid, especially when you can outrun them without too much trouble. They're only really dangerous if they're fast or if there are a lot of them, and they sure aren't fast! Only - well, before long, there are a lot of them. You can hardly go outside without running into one, and mobs form quickly. Went out for supplies? Let's hope they didn't follow you - you might get stuck in that shop, mobile corpses pounding on the door. Oh, and don't stand too close to the windows of your house. They'll be more than happy to smash the glass trying to get you.
Don't worry, though! A hard blow to the head will take these zombies out, and you'll be sitting pretty, as long as none of them bite you. None of them bit you... right? Wow, what a relief. We're all glad you're not concealing a life-threatening zombie bite from your friends! Who would do that, anyway? Now if you can manage that until the 20th, you'll be safe and sound as the zombies shamble out of the city. Hopefully you won't be shambling with them.► This log covers September 14th-September 20th.

Rin scoffs in disapproval as he rams the sheathe of his sword into the zombie arm for good measure.
"Maybe you should be grateful and take a hint! You should seriously get out of here while you can!"
Rin would like to take some of these guys out. Really. But having an audience makes it difficult to use his flames openly without freaking most out. Maybe if he can shoo the kid away, it'll be easy from here. Go on, brat; go hide in your house until Rin says it's safe.

"'Brat'? You can't be any older than me!" In fact, he'd assume that this kid is younger.
no subject
"Seriously, what is wrong with you?! If you're older, aren't you supposed to be more mature?!" Aimed more to sting than make a point. Rin's definitely not above resorting to petty material in an argument.

Firo glances back to see what the zombies are doing. Unfortunately, there are more stumbling around a little ways away… He pivots so that he can keep arguing while still keeping an eye on them. “There’s nothing wrong with me--you’re the one who can’t mind your own business. What makes you think you’re the only one who can deal with these guys, huh?”
no subject
"I know a brat because you're a brat! Some scrawny little kid who thinks he knows better, and then kicks a monster with his foot! You're not a brat, you're just plain stupid!"
He grits his teeth as he watches Firo position himself for more zombies.
"I can deal with them because I know what I'm doing!"
Rin grips his sword and pulls it out of it's sheathe, encompassing himself in his Blue Flames. He should hold back. He should really hold back, but he's too pissed to care anymore. Maybe his Flames will scare Firo off and make him run to safety so Rin can deal with this mess. He slashes down some of the closer zombies, glaring back at Firo.

The flames do take him aback; he blinks a few times to make sure he's not just seeing things. Even being in this place for a while, he still doesn't totally accept things like magic. But he decides to ignore it for now--letting himself be distracted could be dangerous.
He steps off to the side to stay out of the way as Rin attacks some of the zombies. "You want a fight, kid, you can have one. If the zombies don't take care of you first."
Firo, for his part, has no plans to run. He instead sets his knife on the first zombie in arm's range, keeping an eye on Rin all the while.

Not when he still has things to do, like destroy Satan! He'll show Firo what for, just let him watch!
Still, though, Rin will keep his eye on Firo to make sure he doesn't get hurt. He didn't study herbology (or, uh... much of any class for that matter) to be able to heal Firo if he should get tainted by one of these things. And none of his other friends are here, so he'd say it would be bad news if Firo even got a scratch.
Rin strikes down another zombie hard by driving his sword into it's head and ripping it out. These things are gross, but what are you going to do. The numbers are actually increasing more than he's used to fighting at one time. Looking at Firo a moment, he wonders if he should grab him and run.
Slow or not, it's bad being cornered by any form of monster. He's pretty sure Firo would actually just pitch a fit if he tried to pull him out of danger.
Hmmph. Stupid brat. Still, though...
"Hey, I think we should get out of here! There's too many!" Rin tries to yell over his shoulder as he forces another zombie back.

Firo wrenches his knife out of a zombie's face and spares an aghast look at Rin.
"Run away? That's your plan?"
They are getting swamped, though, even he can tell. Much as it pains him, maybe this guy isn't wrong. And if they're both going, it's not as embarrassing.
