If your first thought upon waking up on the cold, hard ground of Hadriel's very own Colosseum is 'maybe I partied too hard last night', one, Delight would love you and two, you're wrong. Or- maybe you did, but that's not why you're here. Instead, you wake up with the same clothes you were wearing when you were last home, but surrounded by very different people. So, make some friends! Might as well voice your confusion and concern and show the technologically unsavvy of you how to operate these fancy new phones, right? Just be sure not to trip over these odd bags of chips on your way to greet your fellow man.
Don't spend too much time out in the open, though. There are monsters about, and not quite the usual ones. This month, Hadriel is bringing in four dragons, each with their own unique abilities and raidboss-esque stamina. They'll be terrorizing the city until someone puts them down- maybe that someone is you! Maybe you should, uh, actually hide. They're hungry and territorial and mean and they're definitely out for a good meal. Check out our OOC post for more information, as well as who will be eventually killing the beasts!
But hey, once you escape from the dragons, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
New, as of October's intro log is a Newcomer's guide that installs itself by default on every activated phone. Thanks, Mello!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Brow raised, she casts a glance to Camille. She picks up some gauze she'd set aside.
"Not too fond of doctors or hospitals."
It had only been a few months ago that Rey had ever stepped foot in the local clinic for the first time. Usually she tends to her own injuries, or her body would take care of it for her. It isn't like she has to worry about most damage lasting, so long as she's given herself time to recover.
She nods her head at the plate Camille is currently munching on. "You can find food at the stores, you know. Provided that something doesn't eat you first."
Fucking dragons.
no subject
She munches her ceramic in quiet contemplation, staring at a wall. She blinks and looks up when Rey mentions food.
"Oh, no, yes, I know, I've had plenty already, actually! Just got myself stuck here when the purple one decided to light up a whole block! This is just me stress eating, really. Pay me no mind!"
no subject
Rey doubts that most doctors would even know what to do with her if she were seriously injured. Some would probably kill for an opportunity to obtain cell samples, though.
In most cases, the vessel just heals with some time.
She stares at Camille, studying her odd features and eating habits.
(To be fair, Rey is not one to judge anyone's eating habits.)
"You're stress eating a plate..." She shakes her head, dismissing the thought as she finishes bandaging up her arm. Her eyes tear from the somewhat human-looking person. "The hell are you, anyway?"
no subject
She spaces out for a moment, munching her plate in quiet contemplation until Rey speaks again. She grins.
"'Mm an amphhh!" She says it with her mouth full, pauses, swallows and tries again. "An amorph, 'scuse me! Type of shapeshifters, we are. Aside from tending toward odd shapes, we also tend toward odd tastes, hu hu! At least compared to humans. Though, something tells me you're not quite human either!"
She winks.
no subject
Not that Rey applies to that. She can take more damage than a human, and heal significantly faster from most grievous wounds. One could hardly consider her a delicate flower by any means.
"You'd assume correctly." There's no reason for Rey to hide what she is, and pretending to be something that she's not isn't very becoming of her. "So all that glass you're eating doesn't hurt? At all?"
Does her kind even bleed?
Curious.

Amorphs aren't exactly what anyone would call "durable." Sure, you can cut one in half and they'll survive, probably, but they also all have some very specific and very widely-known weaknesses.
Hence why the terrorists back home are always trying to set her cafe on fire, as opposed to anything else.
"Neat! Do you mind if I ask what you are, then?" She considers her plate for a moment. "Oh, no no, not at all! It's not bad, as ceramic goes. Of course real porcelain just can't be beat! It's got that delicacy of flavor that just can't be replicated. Anyway, I can digest just about anything with magic, and I've nothing in the way of insides to be torn up, so!"
She shrugs.

As it is, Rey finds it to be a perfectly reasonable question. She shakes her head. "Am synthetic," she responds calmly. "Was programmed and then both artificially and organically engineered. Made to be compatible with various vessels such as this one."
Whether or not Camille is someone from a place where those words would make sense, time will shortly tell.
"Ceramic has... flavors." It isn't spoken in the form of a question, so much as Rey is attempting to process Camille's words. "Are there many in your world like you?"
no subject
"Oh! Huh! Sort of like a robot, of sorts?"
Which certainly isn't common back home. Humans talk about that sort of thing all the time--inventing robots and such, but no one's done it yet. Not a proper robot that can think and feel.
"It does. You wouldn't think so, but it's true! You notice these things when your magic acts like tastebuds, I suppose. It depends on where the materials came from, who made it, what type of glazing process they used, all that!"
She takes another bite.
"This isn't so bad...a bit like Tiarr porcelain, but more piquant."
no subject
"Yes, sort of like a robot."
Given her long-lived disdain for all things mechanical, it isn't a fun reality to come to grips with. It still leaves a bad taste in her mouth just saying those words.
She blinks as Camille helps herself to the porcelain. "Well, am not one to judge. Have eaten bugs before, when nothing else was around."
You do you, Camille.
no subject
"But only sort of, I see." A touchy subject, then. She shrugs. "Well, I'll not press. Suppose it's not really my business, after all!"
She's honestly content just knowing this person isn't human. The amount of non-humans here is really quite nice. One small thing that makes it feel sort of like back home. She's not sure what she would have done if it turned out that everyone here was just humans.
"Oh, bugs are nice. My favorite is rhinoceros beetles! Big, crunchy, they've got their own flavor and everything! Moths aren't so bad either, but they have to be the good big ones. The little ones mostly just taste like powder."
no subject
Bugs, though...
"Well, wouldn't know much about taste," since Rey didn't exactly have that sense for nearly a century, "but once had some Chorba El Jourad that had a unique scent and texture."
Many in these modern times would find the act of eating such a soup to be disgusting. Usually, one takes the insects out of their meal before consuming. But nope, not Rey. And not when the act of eating was more of a necessity than anything that she could actually enjoy.
no subject
"Chorba El Whatnow? Also what's this about not knowing about taste! Can you taste?"
The idea of someone, anyone, being incapable of tasting things is sort of horrifying. Having no access to the other senses is one thing, but taste? It's fundamental! Or it should be. She knows plenty of Insubstantials with no ability to taste, and it makes her sad every single time.
no subject
Nowadays, Rey can't fathom sensory deprivation. Moreover, she can't bear the thought of losing that sense.
"Oh, no. Didn't used to. Not for over nine decades, anyway." Which is a long time for someone who doesn't look anywhere even half that age. "That was fixed about... four years ago? Yes."
If not for her brother, she probably wouldn't have had even a basic grasp of the concept of how much time had passed.
