Well, Hope and Delight are messing with the door again, but at least this time dragons aren't involved, right? This attempt goes a bit better - sure, no one gets sent home, but if everyone will just look under their seats, they'll find a FREE [INSERT SOMETHING YOU MAYBE DIDN'T WANT AT ALL HERE]! Awesome! So nice! Yup, throughout these few days people will be finding things from home - something they loved, something they used all the time, something they hated, something they totally forgot they even had. All sorts of cool stuff!
Well, they might not actually find it. Their neighbor might, or a complete stranger. And who knows where it could turn up? At the park, half-buried? In the Silent Hill zone, kept safe by a horrifying monster? Or hey, maybe in somebody's underwear drawer. Awkward. Better try to find your stuff, or find the owner of whatever weird crap you found. It could be something important.► This log covers October 15th-October 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you somehow manage to die in this event, please let us know here, and also what the hell?

[He's smiling, glad to have found the correct owner for the obviously-loved toy.]

Are they uh, friendly? Or are they just sort of cute from afar?
no subject
If they liked you, they were quite pleasant. The tom would let me hold him sometimes. But they did attack our machinery on occasion. I'm ashamed to say they usually won.
no subject
[He's never had any pets himself, but he's had friends who did.]
Did you um, name any of them?
no subject
A few of them, yes. The tom was the General. There was a small one with no tail that we called Ben. Another with spots we called Momma. She always had kittens. The others came and went, but those three stayed for years.
no subject
I've uh, never had any pets. Or I guess I didn't before, anyway; the wolf sort of counts now, I guess.
[Mike and his wolf, man.]

[He's quiet a moment.]
I think um, it belonged to the guy who was hunting wendigos back home. But Mike uh, made friends with it in the middle of everything, so it can't be too wild if it just gets along with new people right away.

It's been a while since they've spoken of the mountain. Maketh sets the toy down on her desk, smoothing her hand over it one last time.]
You...were not alone, that night?
no subject
For um, most of it we were. But there was this guy um, Jack, who lived on the mountain and kept the wendigo under control. He told us how to fight them, and he went with me to try to get Josh, but um... H-He didn't make it.
[His gaze is directed toward the floor, even if his voice is a little more steady than it usually is when he talks about what happened.]
no subject
I'm sorry. He--must have been very brave, to live that way.
no subject
[Except for, perhaps, Hannah and Beth the year before.]
I um... Pell found his journal here, and gave it to me. I didn't know his name before, but it was Jack; apparently his whole family had been dealing with wendigos for a few generations.
[Only there's no one left to do that now.]
no subject
Did it have any information that might help us here? I doubt the gods will bring the wendigos back again, but it remains a possibility.
[It's easier to talk about tactics than consider the man behind the journal. No doubt he died badly.]
no subject
[Chris had been there for Ashley reading the journal but doesn't have any clear memories of it, having been in kind of a daze at the time. But Sam had heard everything, and combined with what Jack had told Chris directly they'd known enough. He hasn't seen anything particularly new in the journal just yet.]
Though um... I think the wendigos are probably still here. Just um, the spirits, and they're probably in the caves with the other monsters.
no subject
Always one threat or another.
[She gives him a hesitant smile, touching the stuffed cat again.]
Thank you, for this. It...reminded me of a different time.
no subject
Yeah, no problem. Have um, you found anything else of yours yet?
no subject
[Maketh shakes her head. It's still hard for her to imagine this thing is real. Of all the things the gods might have dumped on her doorstep...]
It was a suit of armor. My mother's, strange as it seems. It's badly damaged, but I believe I can fix it.
no subject
[He has no idea what the armour looks like or anything, but he'd guess it'd be really useful if she manages to fix it and, more than that, it's probably a very meaningful keepsake.]
What would you need to fix it?
no subject
[She grimaces.]
It will be a long job, I'm afraid.
no subject
I'm uh, so not an engineer, but if there's something I can do to help just let me know, okay?
no subject
Neither am I. But I appreciate the offer, truly. It will take me some time to prioritize the repairs. After that, I may ask your advice. Especially for some of the internal programing. The coding appears to be damaged.
