Event Log: Keepsakes

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Keepsakes event!
Where: All around the city
When: October 15th-October 19th
Warnings: A bunch of random crap.

Well, Hope and Delight are messing with the door again, but at least this time dragons aren't involved, right? This attempt goes a bit better - sure, no one gets sent home, but if everyone will just look under their seats, they'll find a FREE [INSERT SOMETHING YOU MAYBE DIDN'T WANT AT ALL HERE]! Awesome! So nice! Yup, throughout these few days people will be finding things from home - something they loved, something they used all the time, something they hated, something they totally forgot they even had. All sorts of cool stuff!

Well, they might not actually find it. Their neighbor might, or a complete stranger. And who knows where it could turn up? At the park, half-buried? In the Silent Hill zone, kept safe by a horrifying monster? Or hey, maybe in somebody's underwear drawer. Awkward. Better try to find your stuff, or find the owner of whatever weird crap you found. It could be something important.

► This log covers October 15th-October 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you somehow manage to die in this event, please let us know here, and also what the hell?

( sleeping habits are always going to be near the top of henry's list of priorities – both in keeping them normal and maintaining a level of consistency that, at the very least, lends a bit of balance for the variables that make up everything else. not much has changed with him since he'd arrived, but he's always been one of the lucky ones that has never had to work particularly hard to maintain the status quo –

in other words, sleep isn't so much of a luxury to him as it is to adam. early mornings might be a habit that dies hard, but at least the other is getting the sort of rest he wouldn't have been able to get otherwise, and it says something that he's able to get it here.

( it's not unsurprising, all things considered. nothing is ever quite what it seems, is it? )

he's about to give a greeting in response when adam enters, still peering at the watch in his hand in that distracted sort of way – but the question catches him, enough that he inevitably turns to face him fully, dark eyes wide and curious and he gives a small shrug.
) Of all places, I found it in the coffee. ( there's the smallest huff of laughter, like something disbelieving, or maybe just short of surprised that something like that sounds pretty par for the course here.

but he holds the watch out toward adam, clearly offering it up to be taken from him. it's not his, anyway.
)

Have a habit of leaving things in odd places? Or is this a new development?
unknowable: (you never returned that call)

oh, always

[He takes it with a careful hand. After everything that's happened here, he shouldn't be surprised, but he is. He runs a thumb over the teeth marks, the battered band. It's definitely his.]

I didn't bring it with me when I came here. It must have just appeared.

[And - well, that's not entirely impossible. Nothing really is, here. But it's certainly unexpected, and Adam doesn't know what to think. Holding the watch, really looking at it, brings to mind Ronan's Orphan Girl. That poor creature, alone in the world, terrified of dreams and equally in danger in the real world. Adam had seen too much of himself in her, it would have been impossible for him not to empathize.

He's thought of her since he ended up here again. Mostly it was just quiet thanks that she wasn't here as well, in such a dangerous place. Sometimes it was, strangely enough, loneliness. They hadn't known each other long, but Adam liked her, and he thinks she liked him.

He knows time passes differently at home. He knows she doesn't even know they're gone. Even so, he hopes she isn't lonely. He hopes she doesn't miss them.]

It was just... in the can?
