Event Log: Keepsakes

What: The event log for the Keepsakes event!
Where: All around the city
When: October 15th-October 19th
Warnings: A bunch of random crap.

Well, Hope and Delight are messing with the door again, but at least this time dragons aren't involved, right? This attempt goes a bit better - sure, no one gets sent home, but if everyone will just look under their seats, they'll find a FREE [INSERT SOMETHING YOU MAYBE DIDN'T WANT AT ALL HERE]! Awesome! So nice! Yup, throughout these few days people will be finding things from home - something they loved, something they used all the time, something they hated, something they totally forgot they even had. All sorts of cool stuff!

Well, they might not actually find it. Their neighbor might, or a complete stranger. And who knows where it could turn up? At the park, half-buried? In the Silent Hill zone, kept safe by a horrifying monster? Or hey, maybe in somebody's underwear drawer. Awkward. Better try to find your stuff, or find the owner of whatever weird crap you found. It could be something important.

[Not even a Named one like herself is immune to death of people she loves. That, at least, the stories got right.]

I stay for an hour or two every time. [She admits that quietly, so unlike normal.

Her breath catches on the I'm sorry he doesn't finish saying. She's glad he doesn't. Sympathy is not something she's ready to deal with right now. Kate's coming back, after all. She should be less... messed up about this.

It's only when he comes up to her that she looks at him again, glances at the frame set that she instantly recognizes. For a second or two, she can't move, thinks this might be a dream.

Then she reaches out and takes it.] Erm--

[Faith clears her throat as tears prick at her eyes again. Her pictures-- pictures of her and Kate and the others, happy moments.]

Thanks. [She sniffles, a tiny smile on her face.] This is-- it's my picture frame. It's us. Me and Kate and our friends from home. Our teammates. [She doesn't know how much he knows about that, though.] Has-- has Kate told you about any of that?

[hollowly]

( no one is immune to the effects of death, whether directly or indirectly, and the softness of her voice is a very clear indication of the former. he feels guilty, for the smallest of moments, that she spends more time here waiting for kate than he does –

but of course, she has every right. they're from the same place, have ties that go beyond hadriel itself. it doesn't mean that he cares any less for her, that his feelings for her don't mean as much. they're just separate, something all their own, and at the very least he has someone that can understand, on near the same level, just what it means to have lost her in the first place.

he pauses for a moment once he's handed the frame over, realizing the flicker in her expression as something that needs that moment for recognition, and when she speaks up again he shakes his head. moves to sit next to her. ) She hasn't told me a lot about what things are like where you guys are from. Little things, maybe, here and there. ( nothing beyond the fact that there are such things as super-humans, and things like that.

hell, there should still be a conversation about phoenixes actually being people. )

[She's not out to make him feel guilty. Faith is just the emotional sort, prone to feeling all she feels very intensely. And Kate--

Kate is very, very important to her. This is how she shows it. By waiting for her, ready to be there when she comes back from the dead.

Here, in her hands, are eight reasons she so badly wants Kate to hurry and come back already.]

Should ask her, when she's back. Some of it's not mine to tell. But all of us-- [she nods at the pictures] We worked together. Got lied to, figured it out, fixed it. [Her tiny smile goes fond.] Still got lots to do, but the worst of it's over, I think.
