Event Log: Why Do You Have To Be Mad?

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Rage event!
Where: All around the city
When: December 15th-December 20th
Warnings: None! Well, potentially rage-induced destruction and fighting and maybe a tiny bit of murder? So, nothing out of the ordinary.

December is usually a time of festive holiday cheer... unfortunately, Hadriel isn't the sort of place that respects holidays. Rage has decided that it's time she's given her due and has put on another event! Unfortunately for everyone in the city, this event means that all characters are given a particularly aggravating pet peeve that entirely sets them into a flying rage.

See someone sleeping? They're now the object of your ire. See a tall building with a bunch of windows? Suddenly, all those windows need to be smashed. Fights are breaking out with depressing regularity, and a couple of them might be severe enough to injure someone in a bad way.

Look out for your fellow prisoners in Hadriel, and do try to figure out the categorizations of each person's issue fast- falling into these cycles of anger isn't good for anyone and is bound to make someone mad if you treat them wrong. Conversely, instead you can just find someone who has the same loathing as you and let your feelings amplify one another; after all, the best sort of friendship is one that's formed by mutual hatred!

[He shrugs. It does seem pretty weird that people's origins tend to be so clustered, but what does he know about this place?]

Anybody from where you're from? Some of us can't catch a break, but there're other people who don't run into anybody they know.

Of course... it would be unwise to...

[Yaaaaaaawwwwwn. Sorry about that, give him a moment. Mmm, his mind is all foggy, all of his thoughts moving so sluggishly. He tries again.]

Unwise. What was I saying? Ah, does it matter? These gods clearly have the upper hand for now. Unfortunately for us.

You aren't feeling tired, are you? [ The word is said with some venom to it along with a narrow of her blue eyes. Sleep is the enemy. ]

[foundafamily]

[The dismissal would have Firo suspicious of Shadow anyway. This strange anger doesn't help things.

He frowns and gives Shadow a very pointed look.]

Are you trying to distract me?! Tell me! Are you really okay?

[foundafamily]

[Yikes. Firo nods.]

Sounds like it sucks.

[foundafamily]

"And so that's the one you're hanging onto, huh?"

He can't really imagine switching names at any point, so that makes sense too.

"If it works for you, then there's nothing wrong with whatever you call yourself."

[dragonsgrasp]

Wha- No! No, of course not. How could I ever give in to such a reprehensible thing?

[He eyes her closely in return.]

And you, you're managing to keep yourself from falling prey to it?

[dragonsgrasp]

How can you say that, Rydia?! This one can be difficult. ...prickly, even.

[Kain's mind is a bit sluggish from lack of sleep, or he might pick up better on just how strange his friend from home is acting. He notices something off, but it leaves his mind as soon as he thinks it.]

As for you... [Kain points a threatening finger at Shadow] I'll be glad to put you in your- [This is interrupted by a huge, long YAAAAAAAWN. Whoops, where was he? Kain blinks, fighting to keep his eyes open.] I mean it! Stay away- [YAAAAAAAAAWN] -from us...

[unitas]

I don't think I have. [ She has been, though they've been short naps that she doesn't even realize she's doing them. She's even fallen asleep on her feet once, but that ended with her on the ground, confused as to how she'd gotten there. ]

I just keep myself busy and remind myself that this isn't how I always really feel.

[dragonsgrasp]

I'm glad to talk to someone else who has some sense about this matter. Most of these people are giving in to that atrocious activity and... actually sleeping.

[He looks so disgusted by the very thought. There's another yawn, and he fights to hold his eyes open, keeping them nice and wide.]

Staying active is a good idea to combat this feeling.

I know what I'm talking about, Highwind. Don't you trust a friend? Try to let them hit you, you'll soon realize you're just seeing things. But whatever you're hallucinating isn't really important right now, what bothers me is... this!

[Rydia is just waving her hands in shadow's general direction, she could be considered pretty ridicolous right now.] You are bothering me with your presence! You just make me so... angry! [Small sparkles of electricty around her hands seem to suggest she is actually getting ready to fight, if necessary. As much as she hates hitting other creatures... he's jst an animal, right?] But, really, how am I supposed to stay calm in here? I desperately try to forget this place is infested with beasts of all kinds and you have to show up an-[She's interrupted by Kain and the woman raises an eyebrow looking at him.] Stop interrupting me, Kain, just go to sleep or something and let the adults do the talk here.

[circumitus]

"Yes. I think so."

Maybe she should have a better idea on what she wants, but it's just something she just never considered very often. Mostly because she never dwelled much on what she wants.

She returns her attention to Firo, leaning a hand against the windowpane and shifting her weight. "Mm. Don't really know what works for me. Didn't always have the luxury of being able to make choices for myself."

As if free agency is a 'luxury'. Rey, please.

[ushahin]

Ushahin is growing more and more angry as Shadow refuses to help him. Here he was thinking that they were friends, and instead, he's holding onto the feathery little bundle of trouble as if the bird actually means something.

"He needs to die!" Ushahin says in frustration. His voice, usually so mild and soft, actually grows louder, just another indication that he's not at all himself.

It's the best way to combat just about anything. [ Thoughts. Feelings. Sleep. As long as you keep moving, none of it can catch up with you.

If only that were true. Her nose wrinkles. ] But it feels a little like being tortured.

[ Can't sleep. It's become a physical pain, a need that runs so deep that she wants to crawl out of her own skin; peel back her eyelids so that they may never flutter and she may never dream. She knows these are all thoughts generated by their current situation but they never cease to be startling or disgusting or heartstopping as realization settles just how much you need what you hate. She digs her nails into one of her palms until they pierce the skin, a moment of relief from one type of pain to deal with another. ]

I doubt we have much longer to go. Just have to get through it.

[ He's out the window before she can say much, so she gathers up a bag of her supplies, papers and pencils and coal. She sketches out something nightmarish, barely able to keep her eyes open, nearly dropping her piece of coal in the process. You better not be gone long, Shadow, or Sharon will be out like a light.

And then startle at the lightest sound. ]

[Firo groans and holds out his arms.]

How many times do I need to tell you? You're my friend!

[dragonsgrasp]

Shadow is a nuisance, we can agree on that... but is he truly worth this much aggravation. [Even if he and Shadow have... done each other quite a few favors, what with him saving Shadow's life and Shadow 'saving' him through death. He's a bit surprised that Rydia feels this way. She's usually friendlier.]

And how could you belittle me like that, I'm... [YAWN.] I'm a grown man, I don't [YAAAAAAAAAAAWN.] deserve that. I refuse to sleep. I haven't in a long time, and I'm not starting now!

[dragonsgrasp]

Right... right, of course. We've made it this far, we can prevail.

[Though Kain can agree with that whole torturous notion completely. It feels horrible. His thoughts are so sluggish, his whole body feels that way... his eyes are dry and red, and overall, he's not in such great shape. But sleep is the enemy, one he intends to defeat.]

We have the strength to beat this. We must not give in, whatever may happen.

[foundafamily]

Firo shrugs. "You have to figure that out yourself. Look at it as an opportunity."

How many people has he known in the same position? Many--including many that he remembers creating "himself" via Szilard. Ennis's brothers never got a chance until their final and fatal choice. Ennis only barely got that chance herself.

[blessedmaiden]

He is an animal! I hate animals, Kain! [But even if they drive her insane, Rydia is perfectly aware there's something off in that sentence- how silly, of course she dislikes Shadow and everyone else.] They stink, they treat their world as their toilet, they ruin your furniture... how am I not supposed to get mad to some weird spiky creature who dares to stay around us?

[A glance at Shadow, like trying to make sure he's keeping distance because she wants to punch him right now- and she's back to the dragoon since the other isn't speaking for now.] I will treat you like a grown man when you will start to behave like one! Look at you, you're yawning every three words and guess what? I'm not really eager to stare at the back of your mouth whenever I look in your direction. Especially considering it's literally everything I've ever seen of your face!

[meatbrained]

Not sleeping.

( He sits down next to her and gestures for a coffee. Actually. Make that two. )

[knifecollecting]

Oh! [She spins to face him.]

If we don't sleep we don't have to worry about having enough time.

[meatbrained]

( Oh.

That.

Doesn't really make sense either. )

Seems like we've got plenty of time. ( It's not like most of them work around here. )

[Firo's immediate inclination is to bristle--why does Shadow need to remind him of friendship? It must be just another distraction!

But that very thought strikes him as strange just a second later. Why is he so angry? He should care more for his friends than this. So he struggles past the feeling. He breathes out slowly, and he's calmer when he speaks.]

Yeah. But, you know, it's sometimes hard to get what's going on with you when you sneak around.
