What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-16th
Warnings: Luscious greenery and confused newbies
As has become tradition within the good (well, okay) city of Hadriel, new arrivals will awake on the floor of the half-destroyed colosseum. Confused and disoriented, you may be wondering where you are and what you're doing there. Don't worry! Someone will probably tell you sooner or later, as long as you get out of the colosseum alive.
Oh, right. About that. Along with the poor, innocent, vulnerable new arrivals are a number of other new friends! Well, maybe less 'friends' than 'horrifying monsters', but are you really going to be picky? Wandering the arena are Shambling Mounds. These creatures are large, unattractive piles of vaguely humanoid-shaped vegetation. They hit hard, they can take a lot of damage, and if you're really unlucky they might manage to engulf you with their weird plant bodies. If that happens, you'd better try to get free fast - otherwise they'll just walk off with you stuck inside and kill you later at their leisure.
The Door appears to have cast a wide net for 'plant monsters', and while Shambling Mounds are the only ones that can actually hurt you, it's managed to pull in a number of smaller, less dangerous carnivorous plants. Some of them are even kind of cute! So if you were looking for a pet venus flytrap or a new pitcher plant, you're in luck. Scattered around the colosseum are carnivorous potted plants, just waiting to find a new home.
Make a new plant friend, or get eaten by one, or run screaming! Whatever you choose to do, once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
Anakin Skywalker [Open]
[The hum of a lightsaber is not unknown in Hadriel, but it is rare. Rarer still is the one who wields it. He is taller than most, cloaked and hooded, with a pair of eyes that border on yellow-gold. From what can be seen of his expression, he looks furious and any beast who tries to impede him will either be cut down by his saber or Force-choked. He has no mercy for anyone; whoever is responsible for taking him from his soon-to-be Empire must pay for their grievous error.
A Shambling Mound is tracking his movements and he waits for the creature to strike before vaulting himself into the air to land on the beast's back. Is this thing comprised solely of vegetation? Anakin growls in frustration as the thing wraps vines around his ankles and his legs, pulling him down into it.]
I don't think so! [He cuts swiftly and precisely with his lightsaber, freeing himself. Then with a practiced roll, he leaves the creature's back and tries to figure out where his foe's face happens to be.
Does it have a face? Is it alive or merely some trick? Glaring, he concentrates on the Force and slowly, but surely lifts the Shambling Mound into the air. Then, gathering his power, he sends the beast flying far from him.
It will have to do until he knows more.]
☄ IN TOWN
[Being attacked by plants hasn't put him in the best of moods. By the time he steps into town, he is even more frustrated. There are no ships to be found on this damn planet and he recognizes nothing.
How can that be? Gritting his teeth, he deactivates his lightsaber and clips it to his belt. No one would take kindly to him stalking down the street with such an obvious weapon, he concludes - and since he does not know who to blame, he must be...subtle. Patient.
As if he has ever been either of those things!]
You there... [He jogs to catch the attention of the nearest person, lowering his hood as he approaches.] I need to know about this planet. What is its name?
Town
She frowns at the man, eying him up and down.]
I don't know what the planet is called. This place is Hadriel.
no subject
Only to have it come crashing down.]
Where is Hadriel in the galaxy? How can you not know the name of this planet?

town
Jedi. His eyes first fell on the lightsaber before looking at Anakin's face. His father had fought in the Clone Wars and he had seen countless holos of great Jedi generals. Palpatine had sealed many of this man's records, burying information but he couldn't ever truly erase Anakin Skywalker's presence from those who had served in the war. By now, it wasn't difficult to connect Anakin Skywalker to the Emperor's mysterious enforcer.
Hux's eyes widened as he took in the sight of Anakin Skywalker himself standing before him, speechless for a long moment. Was it Anakin or Vader who stood before him? How much did he know at this point? His voice was even when he finally spoke, he would have to be cautious.]
The city is Hadriel. No one seems to know if that is the name of the planet or what system or sector we're in. You won't find any ships here, unfortunately.
no subject
I will not accept being at the mercy of anyone. Who is in charge? (His hand rests on the lightsaber at his hip, ready to draw it.] I will extract information from them by force if necessary.
no subject
The gods are in charge but that won't be necessary for the time. [He said as his watched Anakin's hand rest on his lightsaber. Like grandfather like grandson. Now there were two of them and he could already feel the beginning of a headache.]
This isn't Imperial or Republic space. There are only a handful of us from our galaxy. [He watched Anakin's expression carefully, curious to see how he would react.]
no subject
Where are they? [Yes, Anakin Skywalker would take on gods if it meant continuing, recklessly and in abandon towards his "dream".]
A great force must have taken us. No other would do. [An intervening force.] They have made a mistake taking me.

arrival
Movement proves to be difficult with her injuries, but she manages to sidestep the creature, looking towards the person-- or thing-- that had sent it flying. Luna is astounded to find a tall man standing in the spot where the beast had come from, holding a glowing blade and looking for all the world that he might never feel anything outside of anger ever again. She eyes him warily, but it's clear that he can hold his own in a place like this. It may not be the most opportune of times, but Lunafreya decides to venture closer, her voice carrying over the distance between them in spite of her weakness. ]
You look to be a great warrior, [ She begins, her voice gaining strength as she speaks. ] Pray tell, what is this place? Unless you are just as in the dark as I.
no subject
I don't know. [The smile fades and his gaze hardens.] We have been kidnapped by my estimations, though I do not know how or why. Rest assured that I will get to the bottom of it.
[Anakin sheathes his lightsaber and approaches her.] Are you injured?
no subject
The quick shift in his expression only serves to make her more weary, but Lunafreya isn't one to back down. The stranger's words, at the very least, are reassuring in their own way. ]
Of that I have no doubt. You seem a capable man with a powerful weapon, the likes of which I have never seen. [ Luna ventures cautiously, swaying slightly on her feet. The gash in her side stings and seems to burn the longer she stands, and she inhales sharply. ]
... Yes. From before I was... taken. [ She can't think of a better way to put it. ] I suppose that there never is a truly opportune time for things of this nature, but I cannot help but count myself as being particularly unlucky.
[ Her eyes train upon the stranger's face as he draws near. He doesn't look to be from Eos, if his style of dress is anything to go by. ] What manner of magic was that, that you could throw that beast so easily...?
no subject
They will only betray him. It will only ever end in pain. His gaze falls on her side and his lips tighten.]
This is a lightsaber. [He extinguishes the blade and clips it back to his belt. With only a short pause, he approaches her and holds out his arms.] I can carry you to safety. I don't know if there is anyone to heal you, but we can look.
[It is strange for someone to not know of the Jedi - though he isn't truly one of them anymore.]
I used the Force. No beast could be as powerful as it.

Arrival
The first thing he sees is the blue lightsaber being wielded by a cloaked figure, hood pulled up. He is indeed as powerful as Kylo had felt. Then Anakin turns in his direction and the Knight catches a glimpse of his face. He sucks in a breath and forgets to let it back out. He recognizes that visage from old holos. This is Darth Vader at his prime, before the accident on Mustafar had turned him into the being Kylo Ren so fervently worshiped.
He's rooted to the spot, barely noticing as a Shambling Mound tries to ensnare him. With an almost absent-minded thought, he uses his powers to shred their vegetation until it seeks out prey less prone to fighting. He approaches Anakin and sinks down to one knee in a bow, black cloak behind him.]
Darth Vader. It is an honor to have a Sith Lord of your legend here.
no subject
Well he can set him straight where the Jedi are concerned, at least. This might be a fortuitous meeting. Dodging another Mound and pushing it to the side as if it is nothing more than a lifeless obstacle, Anakin makes his way over to Kylo Ren, meeting the man halfway.
His pride revels in the greeting and he smirks.] How is it you know that name?
[He hasn't made it well-known yet. But he will.]
no subject
You're a legend by my time. [The first indication he was from a point of time after where Anakin had come from.] Everyone in the galaxy knows your name. [He lets that sink in before continuing on.] My name is Kylo Ren. I have been continuing on your work.
no subject
Do you know General Hux, then? [Is this the person Hux had alerted him about? Maybe. He smiles faintly.] That's a side effect of ruling an Empire. You're not exactly a private citizen anymore.
[Continuing...?] If you are my...heir? [How? Why?] Does that mean I'm dead?

arrival
except what she does when the creeping sense of familiarity layered under darkness shows exactly who its coming from is just... freeze. because it's anakin, ahsoka's instincts tell her, but it really shouldn't be. of course, she never does stay still for long and when anakin's tossed enemy lands close to her and starts to move again, she has her mainhand saber flicked on to slice through this month's monster before she can really think about doing it. muscle reflex is nice to have, sometimes.
at least anakin won't have to worry about that one again for the moment. ]
no subject
Snips. [It has been awhile for him; even longer for her.] Your skills haven't deteriorated, I see.
no subject
but for now, what does she say? he feels wrong, not like the master she'd loved like a big brother when she was a teen, but not the frozen, intimidating sith lord in the tie fighter, either. it's anakin but it isn't.
she hesitates a moment, then defaults to- ] Do you know the situation?
no subject
[No, he doesn't believe "gods" exist. They are simply those with curiously strong powers. He has no problem putting them in their place.]
What do you know?

In Town
[ Noctis is forced to stop at the sound of a strange swish, followed by what appears to be receding bright light in the corner of his eye. The sounds of heavy footsteps rushing toward him have him on edge, quick to reach for his blade again. He's hesitant, but prepared. ]
[ The prince turns, brows furrowed until his gaze is met with the stranger. ]
You're asking the wrong guy. I'm about as lost as you are.
no subject
Then let us look for answers together. [A small smirk tugs insistently at his lips.] I'm Anakin.
no subject
[ While he maintains a careful distance, Noctis inclines his head with the perk of a brow. ]
Not exactly in a place to refuse in a time like this. So why not?
[ Noctis extends his hand. ]
Noctis.
no subject
Glancing at the hand, he nods and takes it, though he is forced to do so with his mechanical hand. His grin dares Noctis to say something about it. He does like talking about his...modifications - even if this particular modification was necessary after he lost the hand in battle.]
