Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-16th
Warnings: Luscious greenery and confused newbies

As has become tradition within the good (well, okay) city of Hadriel, new arrivals will awake on the floor of the half-destroyed colosseum. Confused and disoriented, you may be wondering where you are and what you're doing there. Don't worry! Someone will probably tell you sooner or later, as long as you get out of the colosseum alive.

Oh, right. About that. Along with the poor, innocent, vulnerable new arrivals are a number of other new friends! Well, maybe less 'friends' than 'horrifying monsters', but are you really going to be picky? Wandering the arena are Shambling Mounds. These creatures are large, unattractive piles of vaguely humanoid-shaped vegetation. They hit hard, they can take a lot of damage, and if you're really unlucky they might manage to engulf you with their weird plant bodies. If that happens, you'd better try to get free fast - otherwise they'll just walk off with you stuck inside and kill you later at their leisure.

The Door appears to have cast a wide net for 'plant monsters', and while Shambling Mounds are the only ones that can actually hurt you, it's managed to pull in a number of smaller, less dangerous carnivorous plants. Some of them are even kind of cute! So if you were looking for a pet venus flytrap or a new pitcher plant, you're in luck. Scattered around the colosseum are carnivorous potted plants, just waiting to find a new home.

Make a new plant friend, or get eaten by one, or run screaming! Whatever you choose to do, once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ she likes to check in at the colosseum when she knows it's time for newbies. there always seem to be a few fighters in every bunch, but those who aren't need protecting. she's on the guard. protecting is what she does.

except what she does when the creeping sense of familiarity layered under darkness shows exactly who its coming from is just... freeze. because it's anakin, ahsoka's instincts tell her, but it really shouldn't be. of course, she never does stay still for long and when anakin's tossed enemy lands close to her and starts to move again, she has her mainhand saber flicked on to slice through this month's monster before she can really think about doing it. muscle reflex is nice to have, sometimes.

at least anakin won't have to worry about that one again for the moment. ]

[He knows her Force signature almost as well as his own. To an onlooker, it might seem odd that he pauses and then begins to run in her direction as if he is being chased by a herd of monsters. He leaps onto the downed beast's back and peers down at her, head tilting to the side.]

Snips. [It has been awhile for him; even longer for her.] Your skills haven't deteriorated, I see.

I've polished a few, too. [ most of them, actually. a lot of how she fights still looks like she did when she was refining her skills during the clone wars, but if he keeps seeing her in action, it'll be obvious just how much more capable she's become.

but for now, what does she say? he feels wrong, not like the master she'd loved like a big brother when she was a teen, but not the frozen, intimidating sith lord in the tie fighter, either. it's anakin but it isn't.

she hesitates a moment, then defaults to- ] Do you know the situation?

I wouldn't expect anything less from my Padawan. [His smile is strained; his emotions frayed to a dangerous point. He is all jagged edges without a single comfort in sight.] I know I - we - have been kidnapped by...gods?

[No, he doesn't believe "gods" exist. They are simply those with curiously strong powers. He has no problem putting them in their place.]

What do you know?

Kidnapped isn't quite the right word. I don't know if they're really gods or some sort of entity I've never encountered before, but there's something called the Door that's ultimately responsible for us being here. The gods aren't so great at filtering with it, which is why so many people from different times and places find themselves here.

[ she pauses and gestures at the shambling mound on a deep inhale. she's trying to be peaceful and balanced in the face of whatever anakin is right now, but it's no easy task. ] And why we've got those around for a few days.

So...a door is responsible? [How does he fight a door?] We need to head back and close it for good before it ruins everything.

[i.e. his Empire. Anakin slips from the Shambling Mound's back and presses his lips into a thin line.]

They won't last a few days. [He takes in the Colosseum, snorting.] Being in a place like this brings back memories.

You can't fight them, Anakin. And these people have been here for months, I've been here for months. [ and she's searched for any sign of mechanics or magic involved, but there's just... nothing. nothing useful. every time she hears anyone talk about it, it just comes back to that. ] There's no reversing what the Door has done, just... just trying to live with it.

[ ahsoka doesn't mean for her phrasing to sound so heavy, but there it is. seeing anakin like this all of a sudden is putting extra weight on her mind. ]
