[connor's bored, mostly. you can only go on so many lame moped trips crying about the return of the cave roof for so long before you really need a new hobby. that new hobby might even be one of the lame board games he swiped from the stores - for a lot of guilt, so he's kind of hoping they're not missing pieces (lets be honest, they probably are.)

anyways he texts some of his friends and tells them to come over because the more the merrier I guess and they could probably all use some time to chill together or something. besides then his friends can meet his other friends and that's always a fun idea.

it's easier to be surrounded by people than left alone with your thoughts, is really the long and short of it. so here we all are.]

[Jade nods, still unsure, but it's not exactly a point she's going to argue with. It's nice that Connor's friends brought them gifts. It's nice that he even has so many friends.]

Drive.

[Sure the mopeds are hideous, but Jade's sixteen and driving is still very much a novelty and something she can't experience while trapped in her hell-like boarding school.]

It's because I spent my sixteenth birthday getting trapped in a fucked up boarding school.

I've got more freedom too. Like, here, I can basically do what I want. If there weren't monsters and shit or I could like, fight them, it'd be even better...

[Jade's about to shake her head, but then she remembers the people she met on her first day there, when she was still trying to figure out everything and wasn't worried about things like self defense.]

She's in charge of the guard. She might be able to teach you.

Yeah, they like attack monsters and stuff. And try to keep people safe when they get here.

I don't wanna go around fighting monsters, I just wanna be able to defend myself if they decide to attack me.

I think that's kind of her thing. She's a bit of a hard-ass though, be forewarned.

[Jade frown slightly. Can she handle a hardass training her? She's not sure. But it's worth trying.]

That's okay. I think I can handle that.

[Jade shrugs, shrinking back against the wall again. The compliment surprises her, practically overwhelms her, and she ducks her head, shaking it slightly.]
