[connor's bored, mostly. you can only go on so many lame moped trips crying about the return of the cave roof for so long before you really need a new hobby. that new hobby might even be one of the lame board games he swiped from the stores - for a lot of guilt, so he's kind of hoping they're not missing pieces (lets be honest, they probably are.)

anyways he texts some of his friends and tells them to come over because the more the merrier I guess and they could probably all use some time to chill together or something. besides then his friends can meet his other friends and that's always a fun idea.

it's easier to be surrounded by people than left alone with your thoughts, is really the long and short of it. so here we all are.]

[Natasha's not entirely sure how she got invited to this. Mostly it seems to have just come from running into Connor at the right moment. She doesn't mind it, though.

She smiles when Connor greets her.]

Nowhere better to be. [Said with a smile, taking any sting out of the comment.] Besides, I still have to meet some of your friends.

Are you sure? Maybe you've got a hot cave date. [you never know!!] But, yeah, see, networking. A very important skill.

[he shuffles her along inside. it really was the right decision to move to a house from their old dumb apartment. plus no one is sleeping on the couch and they can have house parties. win win win]

[Who has time to hate on shitposts here? There's enough negativity without that. If someone makes one she judges, she can keep her judgment to herself like a civilized person.

Or she might snoop them to see if there's anything worth reading. She gets bored too.]

Haven't had a date since I got here. Being underground must have me off my game. [Or maybe it's just a very low priority. But she keeps the conversation light.] You'll have to teach me about this networking thing.

right, because jack would call connor a friend, enjoys his company and cares enough that he'd like to get to know him better. it takes him a little longer to get there - he rode a moped the color of orange tang about halfway before deciding he'd rather walk.]

I did, but it was a close call. I was nearly eaten alive by this. [jack holds up one of the venus flytraps, its small mouths halfway closed.] Now it's a housewarming present.

[connor laughs, looking at the flytrap. he's a little bit concerned that maybe jack is serious and it really did almost eat him because this is hadriel and who knows but mostly he's not worried given that, you know, he's holding it up like a housewarming gift.]

Listen to you and those fine manners, I'm sure your mom would be proud.

[honestly, though, connor would always bring someone a housewarming gift. mama walsh raised her son right.]

[and enough time has passed that jack can actually joke about it without wincing. the cave is terrible on certain days, the people are certainly a mix, but it beats the hell out of where he came from.]

[ Matt's not exactly a party kind of guy but after being oddly chill for Tranquility's thing, he can do a get-together or two, especially if it's to humor a few guests in their house. I mean, it is a pretty nice house for all that the furniture and the shape doesn't feel quite right.

But yeah, it's his house, feel free to say hi. Matt won't be playing board games (for obvious reasons) but he's totally down to drink and chat and have a nice time. Truly, having people around makes for a nice distraction. ]

Glad you could make it. [ Yeah, he'll say that even if you're not immediately in his space. Make enough noise, even a blind guy knows you're there. He smirks. ] How's cave life treating you?

It has it's ups and downs. [Did he know it was her from the sound of her boots or the steady beating of her heart? Who knows. There's no mistaking her voice for anyone else's, though.] I could complain, but tonight I'd really rather not.

[She smiles. There may be minimal alcohol, but she seems to have found some of what there is already.]

[Sans ends up at said house party, 'cause of course he does. He's gotta keep up connections with his shitposters-in-arms, partners-in-crime, the what-have-you. It's just good manners.]

No alcohol, but I did bring some very nice plum sauce.

[He produces a bottle of said plum sauce. It ain't real clear whether he means that you're meant to use it as a sauce - like, y'know, you're supposed to - or to just chug it from the bottle wholesale.]

Plum sauce? [ doesn't matter if he was talking to her, because Cashmere turns around to give him a quizzical look. ] Sauce made from plums, or sauce for plums?

[That's a question that he's actually never gotten before. Sans considers the bottle speculatively for a moment, contemplating the choice.]

Good question. I'd assume the former, but who's to blame the plums for enjoying the flesh of their brethren?

[Jade has never been the most social person, but even she'll admit that she's gotten worse since her arrival in what she's decided is some sort of creepy cave prison where everyone is destined to be miserable forever. She tried to get out at first, but the frequent threat of monsters (or worse) and the loss of their temporary beach city was a crushing blow to Jade's opinion of this place. It sucks, she's miserable, and she can't really see herself becoming un-miserable anytime soon.

She's only at the party because it's at Connor's house, which is where she lives though she won't call it her home, and he seemed so excited about it. He was nice enough to take her in, she can at least show up at the party he excitedly planned. But that doesn't mean she has to be a good party guest. She sticks to a corner of the room, holding a drink she's not even drinking and watching the gathering guests with a wariness she tries to sell as disinterest. She mostly looks out of her comfort zone and awkward. Very, very awkward.]

[Connor is one of a few people who get a small smile out of her. Of course it's paired with a dismissive shrug because she isn't going to play an impossible guessing game with him.]

[Jade's a little surprised to see the woman who rescued her on the day she arrived show up, but maybe she shouldn't be. They're all trapped in a cave together, it makes sense they'd keep running into each other. Jade had been meaning to find Natasha again, but she hadn't had the chance until Natasha had found her.]

Hey. Yeah. Yeah, Connor found me after you did and I think he was freaked out I wouldn't last out there on my own. They invited me to stay.

[ luckily for Jade, parties is an area of life that Cashmere is very good at handling, especially pretending to have fun (though tonight she is having fun). she's also not terrible with kids, though at home she's more often pushing them to work harder than she is comforting them.

she joins Jade at her spot in the corner of the room. ]

You must be Jade. I'm Cashmere. Connor's friend. [ she pauses. ] And Matt's friend. [ but Cash and Connor have their own special bond. ]

Want some? [ she holds out a container of mixed nuts, none of which are much like what she's used to at home, but technically nuts anyway. ]

[Jade hasn't met Cashmere yet, but she's definitely heard of her. She knows that she's important to Connor, and really cool, and that's enough to make Jade nervous about making a good first impression. Connor is the closest thing Jade has to a friend in Hadriel and she doesn't want to screw that up by not getting along with his best friend.]

Yeah, I'm Jade. Connor's talked about you. Shit, sorry, that sounds creepy, right? I mean, he's said good things, nothing bad... It's nice to meet you.

[it takes time to be un-miserable, jack can vouch for that. but he's always had some pretty good acting skills, but he never had to act like the walls would fall down if he didn't have his back firmly pressed against them.

she seems to have that down to an art form.]

The hard stuff? [jack nods to the drink in her hand before taking a sip of his own.] Or are you more of a beer drinker? I'm always impressed by a girl who likes beer.

[Jade is an expert wallflower. With three years of practice as the town outcast, it's one thing she knows she's good at. She plays the role of disinterested emo teen easily, or at least, she thinks she does.

She's less sure of what to do when someone at a party actually approaches her. She blinks at him, taking a second to realize that he has to be talking to her.]

Uh... It's just beer.
