Who: Flick, Ulaume, Cal, Pell and Yukari
What: Dinner party!
Where: Hara house (1402)
When:  Jan 16
Warnings: None yet. Will update as needed

Flick had banned Cal from the kitchen because he really didn't want him holding a knife and cutting things. Go figure. Ulaume was a different story, Lor he trusted intimately and one of the few things he trusted him to do was cut things up. Remnants from his old days helping Lianvis. At least this time he was cutting vegetables. It was one of those things Flick preferred not to think about, and if they weren't stuck here Lor wouldn't have been helping him chop at all.

As time goes by and Flick keeps cooking, he kept glancing back at Calanthe and Ulaume to make sure they hadn't killed each other and he didn't need to tell Yukari that dinner was off because his chesnari and his best friends chesnari had killed each other and now there was blood on the carpet.

Maybe if he was really lucky, Yukari would come soon and they could stave off murder. At the very least he could meet almost everyone. He knew how both Cal and Lormy could be with others. Flick silently prayed to Aruhani that the sniping could be kept to a minimum.

As far as he was concerned, Cal had absolutely nothing to worry about from Ulaume--or if he did he was doing a damn good job of looking like he didn't, deliberately ignoring the har with a cigarette in hand, partly forgotten. He tried very hard to make it look like he wasn't watching, but he was. He wouldn't try anything now--not with Flick watching--but there's still the taste of danger in the air, rage and adrenaline pulsing invisible in every breath.

Exciting, really. In a perverted way.

He'd just shrugged when Flick had turned him around at the kitchen and waited, quietly and with every appearance of casual unselfconsciousness. He certainly wasn't blond to the fact that he was surrounded by unfriendly hara and supposedly also some unknown stranger who could prove just as antagonistic.

Only one way to find out, though. That was the shitty part.

Two can play this silent treatment game. It's normal enough in this dysfunctional little household to have this pair behaving exactly as they are tonight, isn't it? The tension. The unspoken danger. The maturity.

Once done with his part in fixing the dinner, he leans against the wall in the kitchen, out of the way. He contributed. Now he's just going to wait until the guest shows up. This seems important to Flick, for whatever reason, and he can behave. He's surprisingly good at being polite, these days, so it hopefully won't end too badly.
fracturedbeauty: (I have no intention of such a thing)

Ah, the dinner party. Yukari was exceptionally looking forward to this. He contemplated all the different types of people he could meet tonight. He makes sure he looks elegant, but not too dressed up. He stops by a shop on his way to Flick's house, picking up a small, assorted bouquet of flowers. He may be manipulating Flick, but he is still a gentleman. And going to a dinner party means a proper thank you.

When he arrives, he politely knocks on the door and waits until he's invited in. The tension in the room is not missed when he steps in.

He was certainly expecting someone of the rabies sort, but two of them? This is rather intriguing. Just how often do these two dogs fight for territory? He imagines it would be rather easy to spark a match beneath these two and watch it grow into a roaring fire. But, of course, the courtesies first.

He holds out the flowers to Flick, giving a charming smile. "Thank you very much for inviting me over this evening. I hope these will do."

Strange. And intriguing all at once. Since he wasn't directly involved in the affair (except that he lived here) he could just watch for a moment and be interested. Where Flick had managed to find this one was a mystery, but at least so far everyone was being--mostly--polite. Still, he wasn't quite sure what to make of the flowers.

At his name, though, he nodded once, not bothering to hide the interest on his face. That was probably rude but what did he care? Their visitor is only human, right?

"'Yukari?' What an interesting name."

Hm. Flowers. For Flick. He's not jealous, he's laughing himself senseless on the inside. As if any human has a chance with his Flick.

It's funny enough it might keep him in a good mood, despite whatever stupidity Cal throws at them later on.

"Welcome." is all he says, general attitude echoing Cal's. This is Flick's show, all he has to do is be here. Right?
fracturedbeauty: (You flatter me.)

[personal profile] fracturedbeauty 2017-01-17 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari gives a polite bow to both of the men upon introduction. He takes special note of the names to the faces, giving the Chesnari a delighted smile. The eyes on him as he delivers the flowers, though.

"Ah, Flick has already mentioned quite a bit about you. Surely, you have someone quite wonderful for a partner, Ulaume-chan." He tries to give the undertone of rest assured, he's not my type. Because, truthfully, he's not. Far too submissive for his tastes, and love is an awkward field for him anyway. He's not going to challenge Ulaume for Flick's attentions in that sense.

"Ah, thank you. I'm rather fond of it myself," He says as he turns his attention to Cal. It's actually a rather effeminate name, but that's never bother Yukari. He found it rather amusing if someone were to mistake him for female and then be shocked to find out he's male. And he's not bothered by Cal's intrigue in the slightest. He'll take the attention, actually. It's always interesting when someone is curious about him. Although, it rarely ends well.

And then there's Flick.

"Ah, and this Pellaz-chan is the one you said would be able to show me around best?"

Of course there were. And of course Pell was the answer. He was everyone's friend regardless of whether or not they deserved it. And maybe that was being a little cruel, but neither could he bring himself to really care.

He almost rolled his eyes at Flick's declaration in his mind, but managed to keep the reaction to himself, instead sending back the equivalent of a noncommittal shrug. Maybe he should meet more humans since that's all that seemed to be here aside from the four of them and the occasional more alien life, but really, how many times was he going to hear that?

"Pell would volunteer without even being asked."

[personal profile] sarestes 2017-01-19 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Are we here to make friends, he thinks back at Flick, disinterested in the whole idea. The answer is no, they are not. He's not. When has he set out to do 'friendship' in his life, truly?

On the outside, though, he's polite enough to seem interested, eyes meeting Yukari's when he speaks. "Of course I do." Rude? Who cares? That's about as good as it gets when it comes to praise from him regarding Flick--saying such things out loud is pointless when the pair of them share minds regularly.
fracturedbeauty: (I have something you might be interested)

[personal profile] fracturedbeauty 2017-01-19 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I certainly look forward to meeting them, then." If Pell is the type to volunteer without being asked, is he like Flick, then? Offering dinner without any real basis and being like the sweetest puppy to help make people happy. It couldn't be that easy, could it?

Short conversation is a strong indicator of other things underlying, be it disinterest or murder. Neither of them seem particularly interested in continuing proper conversation. How amusing. Well, if no one else is going to start anything, maybe Yukari should get started on it. He walks toward Flick, gracefully and even humming faintly.

"Flick-chan, would you like any assistance? Setting the table or preparation? I am well skilled in tasks and cooking, myself." He just has to find something to tease the little Har about. See how long he could drop his true personality on the too-innocent child before one of the border collies attacks the wolf for prying at the sheep. The fact that these dogs are rabid ups the fun by that much more.

Cal almost laughed out loud watching the man get kicked out of the kitchen. He could probably have warned him, but that was much more amusing to watch. There was a reason the other hara weren't in there.

And no, Flick, he had no plans of making friends. Not here, anyway. As far as he was concerned, that wasn't why he was here.

"It's safer out here, trust me."
sarestes: (pic#10713089)

[personal profile] sarestes 2017-01-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
There's probably some joke to be made about Flick kicking the poor human out of the kitchen. He doesn't bother, instead projecting a wave of amusement at both hara in the area. Look at that, it's almost like Ulaume's getting along with Cal!

They really are on the same side, after all. Both here because it's expected. Maybe they can survive the night and disappoint Yukari by the lack of violence.

"Besides, you're the guest."
fracturedbeauty: (I suppose I should thank you.)

[personal profile] fracturedbeauty 2017-01-22 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari blinks as his kicked out of the kitchen. Well, he certainly hadn't expected that. He gives an amused chuckle as he runs a hand through his hair.

"Alright, I guess the kitchen is their territory then. Everyone deserves to have something that's theirs. That was honestly my fault."

Not that he's outright apologizing. He almost never does. Passing an oops is probably the best anyone will get out of him that doesn't play an extremely significant role in his life.

He pushes a strand of hair behind his ear as he finds himself a seat and makes himself comfortable, resting his chin on the back of his hand. Guess he's going to have to play another card to get started. friend-making it is.

"So, what do you two particularly interesting individuals do for fun?"

Just as Yukari asks that, there's the sound of another door opening-- the front door, and footsteps in before it closes again. Pell enters with a heavy looking bag over his shoulder and a pleasant expression. He's built small and feminine and has a long braid hanging to his waist.

"Sorry I'm late, someone came into the clinic right when I was about to leave." Flick had told him someone was coming to dinner, but he forgets the name. He turns to the stranger and offers a hand. "I'm Pell. You are?"

Oh but there are all kinds of answers to that question, and Cal tried very hard not to laugh out loud thinking of them. Thankfully he was apparently saved from answering when Pell walked through the door. Damned if he wasn't polite to everyone.

"Welcome home."

[personal profile] sarestes 2017-01-22 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Fun. What the hell does he do for fun? Besides the sort of stuff he isn't going to blurt out in the first ten minutes of meeting some human. Even he isn't that crass.

...They really had been wandering up and down the river too long if he can't come up with anything 'fun' he does that's remotely interesting to talk about. Meditate. Tell stories with Lileem. Make little clay figures, sometimes, small things not not really worthy to be called 'sculpting'.

Well. He'll pass up that question for now. He just nods to Pell, politely.
fracturedbeauty: (I'll play along.)

[personal profile] fracturedbeauty 2017-01-22 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari looks to the door as it opens with Pell stepping inside. Yukari's not sure whether to feel at home or puzzled that this many pretty people live in one place. Yukari rises to meet the Har, reaching out to shake his hand.

"As Flick-chan says, I am Yukari Mishakuji."

Nevermind they had seemed to dismiss his question upon Pell's arrival. Perhaps the arrival of this Har will make the dinner party more interesting. Yukari easily switches gears to focus his attention on Pell.

"Flick-chan has said quite a bit of you already. You sound like a delight to be around, and they told me you're very knowledgable of Hadriel."

"Thank you," he tells Cal, smiling warmly and nodding at the others. It could be a day like any other, except his mind is closed off to all of them. Maybe he just had a rough day at the clinic?

In any case, Pell's grip is surprisingly strong for such a delicate looking hand, and he shakes firmly before returning his grip to the strap of the bag on his shoulder. "He's a flatterer. I do know the city well, though, I've been here quite awhile -- just how new are you? There's a map of the city on your phone, I can show you where things are."

Cal was far more concerned with Pell than anything else going on now--since when did he ever close himself off like that?--but he kept his expression from showing that he was just a little bit disturbed by that. Maybe there was a reason. Nothing else seemed to be off...just a feeling...and he knew how much stock hara put in those.

The food looked good, though. It always did when Flick had his way. There was some magic in it, he was certain. He tried to shake off the feeling of wrongness as he looked back to their visitor.

"I doubt you'll eat better than this here."
sarestes: (pic#10713065)

[personal profile] sarestes 2017-01-22 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Damn straight, Cal. This har doesn't eat anywhere else and probably never will.

Something strange is in the air now. He does the only thing he can, for the moment, which is sitting down at the table casually. They're entertaining a guest. Whatever is off can wait, since no one is dying or dead, or seems to be in trouble at all. Right?

...What's with this 'chan' word, anyway?

"No question of that." Look, dog, he actually spoke to you.

It is not hard to notice the sudden change in attitude when Pell has entered. Something about the whole tone of the room just shifted. And he's pretty certain that's not a friendship vibe. As far as to what's up, though, that guess is beyond him. Whatever is going on, he's keeping his attention to it subtle. He probably should have brought his sword, this is not a good time to be without a weapon.

Keeping his focus on Pell for the moment, he smiles in return.

"I'm fairly new, about a month or so." He's lying a little bit here. He's not that new. But then, he can't say he's actually interested in receiving guidance around Hadriel, either. It was a ploy to get closer to these people, to see what they're like and how many of them he can manipulate. "I didn't know about the map in the phones."

When he's spoken to about the food, he remains ever polite and gentlemanly, as far as manners go. He'll take his seat at the table, sitting next to Pell, if he's allowed. He certainly finds this particular Har interesting.

"I look forward to it, then. Thank you." His smile doesn't change in even the slightest.

"Flick is an excellent cook. Let me just put this down and I'll show you the map." He vanishes back into the kitchen, putting the bag of vegetables down to be stored later and when he returns he beelines straight for Yukari, taking the free seat and pulling out his phone. He ignores all the others in favor of their guest.

"It's this app here... we have a GPS I think it's called, so you can see where you are."

Cal watched closely from his place, only half sure of what he was seeing. He seemed like normal, overly helpful Pell. Maybe both of them had had a long day. Maybe he was being the paranoid psychotic people thought he was. That had to be it, right?

Eventually after a moment he turned away. He was supposed to behave tonight.

"You're a damn miracle worker, to be sure."
sarestes: (pic#10716651)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

[personal profile] sarestes 2017-02-05 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever the hell is wrong with Pell, he's still being helpful and all to their guest. So that's alright, then? Not so strange for Pell to ignore Ulaume, they have a history.

Watch, wait, and be nice. He can do that. He doesn't have much to say, but he can't let Cal outdo him with Flick-flattery...

"Agreed."
fracturedbeauty: (I am satisfied.)

[personal profile] fracturedbeauty 2017-02-07 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, yes. GPS. We have a similarly named mechanism back where I'm from, that serves much of the same purpose." Yukari sits closer to Pell, allowing himself to appear to be enthralled by the display of information. He pulls out his own phone to mimic the motions. "So, it's like this, then? What about information on the locations? Is there something that provides that?"

"I'm certain it will be delightful, Flick-chan." He gives a smile at Flick. He briefly looks at the others around the room. "It seems you have quite the reputation amongst your peers already."
