Event Log: Patron Gods
Who: Everyone participating in the event!

When: March 15th-March 20th
Warnings: The gods choose you! Whether you choose them back is your call.
What: The event log for the Patron Gods event!
Where: All around the city
When: March 15th-March 20th
Warnings: The gods choose you! Whether you choose them back is your call.
It's March 15th! Whether or not you've been having a good or a bad week, the gods decided to get together and put all the characters on teams- just like in those gym classes that you always skipped! Whether or not you were the last one picked is up for debate, but until we can figure that particular mystery out, there's another one to mull over... namely, who left that mysterious note in your bedside table/shoe/fishtank? And how did you get a friendship bracelet twined around your wrist?
Regardless, when opened, the letter will say-'Congratulations! You have been chosen! [God name] thinks you're a great fit for their team! All you have to do is spread their emotion, and you'll get a blessing - and if your team wins, you get the grand prize: one (1) request for each member of the team, no payment required! Or you can band together and request one big thing, it's all up to you! So find your allies, get started, and let's win this thing!'
Whether or not this is for real becomes immediately obvious, as you seem to find yourself yearning to cooperate with your teammates, and maybe feeling a bit competitive toward your foes. Grab a squeaky chicken or a creepy doll or a snowglobe from the shops if you like, and let's get inspiring! Of course, you aren't forced to participate, but have fun telling your teammates that nobody is going to win their wish because you decided to be a stick in the mud.
Go forth and spread joy! Or sorrow, or scare people, or just really piss them off- but whatever you do, try to have fun and build that sense of community! You're going to need it...► This log covers March 15th-March 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you're just so mad at the gods that you'd rather die than participate, then let us know here!

If it's similar to my world, then I believe that the information is stored in the form of electronic data inside the phone. When you tap on the symbol, it sends a command to the mobile phone's processor to process that data and display it on the screen in the form you see now.
You'll be able to read up on the basic information in Hadriel there. [His smile fades, mouth set in a solemn frown once again.] I hope you understand that you're in a dangerous place here, Ray. If you ever need help, please don't hesitate to reach out for it.
no subject
...Thank you. I appreciate it.
[She pauses.]
I was in a dangerous place before this one too, so I think I'll be fine. This will help a lot. It's like back home: once I have a better idea of how everything works, I should be all right.
[She forces her smile a little brighter. She has to try to be optimistic.]
no subject
It's good to be optimistic, but I'm going to have to warn you that the gods are capable of breaking the laws of reality itself. There are precautions you can take but ultimately, we're still powerless against them.
[Time to pull out the map in the phone. He taps on the attachment inside the information guide, making sure Ray can see what he's doing.]
This is the map of Hadriel. It's a bit outdated, but it's roughly got There's a painted map in the middle of the city. Do you know where the clinic and the Guards headquarters are?
no subject
Is finding her way to the Guard building really important? She has to wonder if the Guard is anything like the military police back home. Sure, he said that they were supposed to protect people, but the police claim the same thing. Protecting the people from the communists is why they--
She pressed her free hand to her temple and frowns.]
Are people... are they supposed to go to the Guard headquarters?
[She continues speaking carefully, almost as if her words are euphemistic.]
I wouldn't want to get in the way of anything if they're doing important work.
Half that tag went missing, I do apologize OTL
[Maybe she needs some reassurance that the Guard weren't going to arrest her?]
Alternatively you may also contact their members directly. I'm only acquainted with one, but he's the same guardsman who informed me about the mobile phone. I met him in the coloseum when he helped me to fight off some monsters. You have nothing to fear from him.
To contact him, tap this symbol here.
[--out pops the list of contacts in Hadriel. Danse will help her navigate to a certain Henry Percy, before tapping the private inbox application.] From here, you can choose to send a text message or use the voice or video function. This feature of the phone is called an "inbox", and basically functions as an electronic letter box.
If you'd like to send me a message instead, just press the bottom right of the phone. The bottom right of the phone might look empty but it's actually responsive to your touch. Tap it once to bring back the previous screen before your current one. Tap it again, and you'll go back another screen.
Here, why don't you try sending me a message. Look for my name in that list, and send me that riddle of yours.
It's okay! :)
[She does notice that there's no mention of certain people being forced to go there or any recommendation that she bring information there. That's... that's good. Maybe this will be different than home.
She follows along, her movements slow and untrained, but she's catching on. Strange as this thing is, at least it seems to use only a few kinds of motions.]
I think I forget the one I asked. Um...
[She thinks a moment and then carefully, painstakingly taps out a message. It's similar to a typewriter, she supposes, just tiny.]
it belongs to you, but others use it more than you. what is it?
[And send! She looks up excitedly.]
How long will it take for you to receive it?
no subject
Almost immediately.
[He show her how he opens his inbox, and to demonstrate more of the phone's capabilities, he chooses to send a voice message.]
Is the answer patience?
[You use your patience on people that irritate and frustrate you, right?]
no subject
She laughs and shakes her head.]
Your name. But I guess it could be patience too--I didn't think of that.
[She looks back up at him for a moment; his answer sounds to her like something someone would say if they frequently found their own patience depleted. But here he's been helping her out--and after he'd seemed so scary too.]
You seem very patient.
no subject
Your answer suits the riddle better. The probability of someone referring to themselves in third person, or conducting that many introductions till they speak their name more often than not, is remote.
[Ray would not be the first to feel intimidated by him. It probably doesn't help that he tends to tower over people, his expression permanently set of some degree of serious.]
It's something to strive for. "He that can have patience can have what he will." I strongly believe that everyone could benefit from practicing and exercising patience.
But more importantly, you're new here. It's crucial for me to ensure that you fully understand how to utilize the functions on this device. In the event of an emergency, a simple message to the right people could save your life.
no subject
She nods her head and tries to offer the utmost sincerity:]
I appreciate it.
Are there a lot of emergencies here?
no subject
And...[Here Danse looks over here carefully. Ray seems very ordinary, but one can't really tell in Hadriel.]
I'm not sure what kind of world you're from. But there are certain individuals in this city that have otherworldly abilities, ones capable of incredible destruction. I've found the people of this city to be generally amiable and helpful, but keep in mind that the gods can make our moods volatile and irrational. That could put you in harm's way, if you cross the wrong person at the wrong time.
no subject
[And seven killed people... Which means that at least seven or even more people were killed. Ray looks down at the ground; she can understand a little more now why he was so wary of someone wandering over here.]
I thought I was from a normal world, at least until things... changed at my school. But nobody had abilities or anything like that. If destructive people are being messed with, that can't be a good mix.
no subject
It's not. But the best we can do is to equip ourselves with the available information at hand and come up with a plan that you can fall back on in case you find yourself in trouble.
Do you have any neighbours or room mates? They could be your first point of contact in the event of any emergency.
no subject
No... I hadn't really settled here.
[She sighs.]
I thought I'd find a way out sooner rather than later, but that seems unlikely.
no subject
Housing in this city is free. Not all the spires in the city can be lived in but four of them offer decent accommodations with different units per floor, similar to apartments. You can also choose to live in one of the landed housing units. Both have similar amenities and offer reasonable standards of comfort, but the houses are generally larger with three or more bedrooms, while the spire units only offer up to three bedrooms at the max.
One of the spires is close to the clinic as well. We can investigate that spire first.
[Danse begins to head to the city, turning behind to make sure Ray's following him.]
no subject
[She trots along beside him. She can't help but wonder what else he could be doing with his time besides helping her, but what't the use in continuing that line of thought? She'll just be grateful as she follows along.]
And everyone here stays in those? Where do you live?
no subject
[Not technically a lie, but Danse doesn't want to go into the actual reasons for why he's bunking at Tranquility's. No one's business but his.]
But I believe most of the populace do make use of these accommodations. You won't want for company.
no subject
Isn't it dangerous for you to be by yourself out there?
[She's mostly joking; it's not a very good imitation of his serious manner.]
no subject
But no. Instead, Danse lets out a slight chuckle, once again allowing that small smile to crack his serious countenance.]
Well, you've got me there. I can't say that it's not true. But I've lived in a far more hostile environment, and I know how to defend myself. The concern is appreciated, but you don't have to worry about me, Ray.
no subject
If you say so.
[She wonders if his world had spirits and monsters too, but she decides on a different question.]
Were you a farmer back home? Is that why you started one here?
no subject
As for why I started one here...in the event any of the gods were unable to provide food, at least I would have something to fall back on. And perhaps on a more superficial level, it's something productive to do to pass the time. You might find it strange for me to say this, but Hadriel itself is a strange city, not least because of its inhabitants. When you're not fighting for your life, you'll find yourself with saddled with an abundance of free time since all basic necessities have been provided for by the gods.
no subject
[She looks at the spire stretching up ahead of them. At least it does look like they have plenty of space; she finds that she's almost looking forward to being able to have a home base.]
There's nothing like school here, is there? What else do you do? You can't farm all day, right?
[Might be nice to have a break, but then there's the problem of finding a way to occupy herself. She wasn't even good at that when most of her day was taken up by school.]
no subject
[Honestly there should be classes about some of these things, since they're technically living in a warzone that can blow up in their faces at any time.]
no subject
Some of it. We had to learn some of the basics at school--just in case. I think I could remember most of it if we have supplies; I don't remember it being too hard.
