Event Log: Patron Gods

What: The event log for the Patron Gods event!

When: March 15th-March 20th
Warnings: The gods choose you! Whether you choose them back is your call.

It's March 15th! Whether or not you've been having a good or a bad week, the gods decided to get together and put all the characters on teams- just like in those gym classes that you always skipped! Whether or not you were the last one picked is up for debate, but until we can figure that particular mystery out, there's another one to mull over... namely, who left that mysterious note in your bedside table/shoe/fishtank? And how did you get a friendship bracelet twined around your wrist?

Regardless, when opened, the letter will say-

'Congratulations! You have been chosen! [God name] thinks you're a great fit for their team! All you have to do is spread their emotion, and you'll get a blessing - and if your team wins, you get the grand prize: one (1) request for each member of the team, no payment required! Or you can band together and request one big thing, it's all up to you! So find your allies, get started, and let's win this thing!'

Whether or not this is for real becomes immediately obvious, as you seem to find yourself yearning to cooperate with your teammates, and maybe feeling a bit competitive toward your foes. Grab a squeaky chicken or a creepy doll or a snowglobe from the shops if you like, and let's get inspiring! Of course, you aren't forced to participate, but have fun telling your teammates that nobody is going to win their wish because you decided to be a stick in the mud.

Go forth and spread joy! Or sorrow, or scare people, or just really piss them off- but whatever you do, try to have fun and build that sense of community! You're going to need it...

Delight? Seriously?

Well. She always did like his jokes. A bracelet 'round his wrist and a mild compulsion to do something with his fresh desire to bestow some kinda happiness upon other people - nothin' can go wrong there, right? Sure, his jokes kinda have a fifty-fifty chance of delighting and enraging people in equal measures, and even that ain't exactly the right estimate, but what's the harm, right?

Even if he don't feel much like makin' people laugh. Feels even less like laughin' himself. He's always fine though, right? He's always fine. He's always smilin', so he's always happy. No problem.

No problem.

He sets up a stand near the city center to start with. Ain't so difficult, really; just scraps up some of the detritus and bits of torn-up buildings and gets it all set up so it looks vaguely like a street vendor. The ramshackle look just adds to the tone. He starts with jars of whatever kinds of sweet stuff he could get his mits on in the shops: lollipops, freeze dried popsicles, peppermint cough drops, even a couple bottles of honey, few scattered jars of molasses. Recreatin' the candy isle at a discount store, as you do.

Sample the goods, if you like. They're free of charge.

When he ain't manning the stand, he's wandering around with an idle directionlessness, a little fox curled up and snoozing in the hood of his jacket. If you like cute critters, Mandelbrot might bring a smile to your lips, particularly with the positively tooth-rottin' way he's content to sleep draped across Sans's shoulders or nestled in his jacket's hood. He might have a whoopee cushion or a joy buzzer or a real groaner of a joke for you, if you stop him.

Just, y'know, 'long as you ain't spooked by a walking, talking skeleton.

Morgan isn't spooked, exactly, but he is absolutely baffled. He leans lightly on the stand, and he's a tall man - but it's not meant to be a threatening or imposing gesture. It's curious, investigating, even if the sleepy, rumpled look about him makes it seem like he's just reluctantly awoken from a very comfortable nap.

The bracelet he's wearing indicate that he's also team delight, as much as that's worth.

"So, uh." He picks up a jar of molasses, not quite looking directly in Sans's direction. "What are you, exactly?"

option a: preparations (3/15)

[connor may not be especially happy these days, but he's competitive without the extra nudge in the right direction. for the first time in weeks he feels a drive to do something, not just mope around and cry about life and damn it he's going to use it. the first thing he does is write invitations to all his friends and acquaintances* that he's going to hold a picnic, yes, a picnic in the park. just in the outskirts, where it still looks vaguely friendly even if it's still in a cave.

after sending off the invites, there's tons of work to be done. off to the shops hes goes to collect food stuffs, some blankets, some vaguely picnic basket shaped objects. not all of it is easy, of course, in fact it tends to be the opposite but connor isn't about to let that deter him or deter his mood. he perseveres, finding something even in the places it looks like there's nothing. look - this broken snowglobe might be the perfect thing to give someone to make them happy. that's how video game sidequests always work, right? one man's junk may unlock another man's substory.

you'll find he's also in an especially good mood if you walk past him. positively beaming with delight, even.]

option b: picnic (3/16)

[alright fam it's the big day of the big picnic. he's invited all the guests, gotten all the food, brought blankets and baskets that were probably for collecting eggs from a bunny rather than picnics in truly hideous colors but WHATEVER, man, its the thought that counts. it's all laid out and now he just has to wait for the guests, and any of their guests and any party crashers -- look, the point is, the more the merrier.

and, really, that seems to be what he's planned for because he's assembled a ridiculously large assortment of food. he's got a little wagon he brought it all on -- isn't that just simply delightful? yeah, yeah it is. he's also got a couple of balls of various sizes and what look to be homemade lacrosse sticks. it's gonna be the best picnic ever.]

We deserve to have a good time after all the shit we've been through, right? I'm super glad I get to spend it with you.

option c: is for closed to roommates

[jade and matt might notice their home is a bit different these days - first of all, connor seems to have gone to the liberty of picking some wildflowers. they are in the most gauche flower pots you could ever imagine (guess that won't be a problem for matt, though!) but you can tell a lot of love has gone into collecting and planting these things. like the person who set them up went to a lot of detail to make them lovely despite their flaws. the flowers are two fold, of course: they look great, but also smell great.

secondly, he also went to a lot of trouble to get extra fruit from the orchard just for them. some of it went to the picnic, of course, but a few extra bunny-egg baskets got donated to their kitchen, filled with some fruit options so it's not all canned beans. unfortunately the fruit seems to be a lot of the more difficult kinds. think: looks like a dragon fruit, opens like a pomegranate. difficulty in getting to the edible parts aside, all the fruit is edible and probably tastes great.

anyways, he's all about spreading good cheer in their house. cooking dinner for all three of them? check. dumb games after dinner for good spirits? check. he even sets out a puzzle to work out - too bad in cavehell all the puzzles are missing pieces and they'll never be finished but its the thought that counts.

turn that frown upside down roomies he's on the watch and any time the two of them seem upset near him he's here with a comforting shoulder and a verbal description of cat pictures.]

[Maybe he can't eat everything that's been spread out - most of it ain't magic, he's willing to bet, assuming any of it is - but at least he can touch base on a pleasant day and take one of those much needed union-regulated breaks.

It's a nice spread. The colors are eclectic and it strikes a weird picture, takin' place in a dank, hollow cave, but it's the spirit that counts.

Plenty of it to go 'round. And he's guessin' it's that same spirit of camaraderie that makes it easy to pin down that he's got a teammate here.]

This won't be so bad, he thinks. Confusion isn't really a mean thing to make people feel. Not like rage. It seems like something he's capable of, too, so it won't be something he's faking like Hope or Delight or something. He can do this. He can be part of a team. He can be useful. He can... he can take a little break from having to think about... the things he's had to think about.

He used to like playing tricks on people.

Monsters have a long and proud tradition, too. As their prince, he should represent monster culture. Introduce humans to it. Let them see what monsters do best: arbitrary puzzles impeding everyday progress.

Doesn't really matter where you are or what you were planning to do. Odds are, you might find the road taped off (with cheap crepe paper streamers, like you would see at a birthday party) and a tiny goat standing in your way. Maybe he's holding a jigsaw puzzle. Maybe he's got a Red Lobster placemat with mazes and junior jumbles on it. Maybe he's got The Third Grade Book of Riddles and Jokes. Whatever he's got, you're stuck with it.

"Stop right there! You can't pass until you solve my puzzle!"

Sato's been staying mostly out of the way of general traffic, but when his path through a side street happens to be 'blocked' by a small goatmonster child and his streamers, he seems more bemused than anything. And as it turns out, he's the owner of another one of Confusion's orange bracelets. So even though he's not really a target per se, he's more than willing to play along.

"Oh, now what do we have here?" he asks with a kindly smile. "I enjoy a good puzzle once in a while. Make sure you give me a challenging one."

Chara | Open | All over the city

[So Chara is apparently on Team Confusion, if the note and bracelet hidden under their sweater sleeve is any indication. Sure they had vote the God in, mostly in an effort to shake things up and because they were bored, but they are severely regretting it (as usual, with most things Chara does).

But hey, on the bright side at least it isn't Hope. Chara would probably suck out any hope that the others on that team would earn.

It's a little later in the day that Chara hits the town. A few stores have paint buckets in them so any signs that have directions on them are getting painted over, although they won't touch the mural of the map in the center of the city for various reasons. Also if anyone comes across them for things like directions and the like, Chara will probably blatantly lie about it.

Inevitably however, Chara does get a little bored of just straight confusion and hikes their way to a random building. It takes a little bit to convince themselves to go inside and that it'll be fine, but once they're in they head for the second floor. Any passerby-ers may want to watch out. Chara has more paint and is very willing to fuel Rage for a bit by dumping it on someone's head.

Otherwise they don't have much they want to do for this, unless someone else comes to them with an idea. This is really stupid and Chara does not have much energy for it. Oh well.]

[prompto is about to walk into this fancy trap of chara's, but he spots the other before he actually gets to fall for it. it's what happens when you have a keen eye for photographs! you're always on the lookout, so to speak.]

[Waking up with a friendship bracelet on their wrist and the knowledge that Hope is counting on them fills Frisk with...

Something they haven't really been feeling, as of late.

And there's no better time for it. A newly ungrounded child wanders through Hadriel, stopping in a good portion of the shops and scrounging around for everything they need. Pens, crayons and textures of every shape and color? Taken. Paper, as well. At some point, they come across some sticky tape, and that helps them come up with even more inspiration.

All about the city, a variety of tiny, childish signs bear some positive messages. Frisk happens to think they look pretty good:







Yeah. They're pretty awesome. A variety of images make their way onto the walls, as well. Smiley faces, and flowers. Sometimes the colors aren't quite right, but no one said a good amount of colors were always going to be available.

The perpetrator of said posters can be found putting them up, or hard at work on their next creation. Depending on who you are, they might not be so willing to show you precisely what they're doing...

After all, gifts aren't nearly as fun when you know they're for you.]

[Jo stumbles across several of the signs while she's wandering the streets. After a while she senses the pattern and laughs quietly.

[Rage. Of course it's Rage. He's not surprised, but he is... disappointed, in himself, mostly, for laying down the foundation for this. It sucks. He's not happy.

Then again, not happy is his general state of being. He's not sure he can remember what happy feels like.

So. Rage it is. He made this bed, he might as well lie in it.

He still doesn't want to hurt anyone, though. So he's got to get creative.

So what Bucky ends up doing is killing monsters. He's good at that. He kills a monster and then hacks it up and starts throwing the pieces all over the city. Basically he's trying to make as big and as gross a mess as he can. That's one thing he knows he can do that he figures will make people mad.

The other thing is a tiny bit more subtle--if people try to talk to him, he will respond one of three ways: a glare, a snarl, or not at all.

The more tenacious out there can certainly try to hold a conversation with him, who knows, maybe he'll break down. Maybe not. It's worth a try, right?

[Natasha can guess why Bucky is spreading monster bits all over town. She's well aware of the fact that they've been sorted into teams, each aligned with one of the gods and each spreading that god's particular emotion around Hadriel. It wasn't a mystery why he was doing this.

On the other hand, there's still the question of why he's doing this in particular.

She's not angry.

She is confused.

Something seems backward here.]

Hey...? [She intercepts, her brows drawing together as she takes in the mess he's making.] Did I catch you at a bad time?

Ray Shin Fang | ota

[Ray wanders around on the streets and near the temples. The contest described in the letter she received that morning seems like one of the puzzles she encountered at school, though the human interaction component is new. And she won’t complain about that part; even if they’re not her friends or family, she prefers being around other people to the solitude in that school.

Though these gods aren’t the ones her mother taught her about, Ray sees no harm in cooperating with them. This might be one more step towards getting home. She’ll play along.

If she sees someone nearby, she’ll approach them.]

Excuse me. What belongs to you but others use it more than you do?

[People with Confusion’s bracelet]

[When Ray spots someone with a bracelet that matches her own orange one, she bounds up to them with a smile. She’d rather join forces with someone than do this on her own. Never mind that teaming up with Wei back home didn’t really go well—she tries not to remember his face, his throat—she likes having someone to work with.]

Do you like riddles?

[A man steps out of Tranquility's temple, slipping his own grey-white bracelet into his pocket. He spots her around the same time she spots him, and that takes him a little by surprise. Not many people come out this way to Tranquility's temple; its proximity to the ghostly fog zone and its distance from the city makes it one of the quieter areas of Hadriel.

But she's walking up to him and on her wrist is an orange bracelet, giving Danse at least some inkling as to why she could be wandering all the way out there. His suspicions are nearly all but confirmed when she asks him a riddle. He supposed that's harmless enough.]

I'll give your riddle a shot if you tell me what you're doing here.

Firo Prochainezo | ota

[The bar (before it meets its untimely end), ota]
[Firo's mood quickly deteriorates when he notices the bracelet and the letter. The bracelet he removes and discards immediately; the letter he sort of reads and then throws out.

One thing he's sure of is that he wants to stay the hell away from whatever's going on. So he takes his cards and holes up in the bar, where he sits there facing the door and shuffling the deck. When someone enters, he pipes up:]

You staying outta this one too?

[He can't stay cooped up all day, so Firo eventually starts wandering around town as usual. However, if someone seems to look too long in his direction he'll glare right back.]

Don't drag me into this crap.

[Closed to Shadow]

[Their conversation when Shadow moved out didn’t go exactly how Firo would’ve liked. For a while after, he mopes a bit, insisting in his head that it wouldn’t have been so sour if Shadow hadn’t asked so many questions. But a little later he considers what Ennis would want him to do, and she’d probably tell him to apologize. Be nice to your friends.

So a couple days later--after he's cut off Rage's bracelet and thrown out the letter--he goes out looking for Shadow. He doesn't know exactly where Shadow's moved to, but he checks around the guard's headquarters first. If Shadow's not there, he continues to move around town, keeping an eye on the rooftops. Every so often, he calls out:]

Marian is not impressed. She doesn't know what kind of nonsense these letters are going to cause, but she sure as hell doesn't want to get caught up in whatever the other residents are doing. Resisting the cooperative urge isn't that hard when you've had that bad a time with strange extradimenional entities... and when the entity that 'chose' you is the one responsible for you and everyone else being here in the first place.

So instead she deadbolts the door to the lab, closes the blinds, and gets back to de-soldering useful bits from the junk pile. There's work to be done.

But there's still bright light coming through the blinds and the faintest hint of bad-smelling smoke in the air if anyone should happen to come past the old lab near the clinic.

Really, Fear could'a gotten a lotta mileage outta hiring Sans out, just for the spook factor alone. The spook factor he really don't mean to be springin' for.

Someone's locked up the lab when he stops by, weirdly enough. Don't seem like Alphys's style. But locked doors've never been much to stall him. He just clips on through space and ends up on the other side, knockin' on the door's interior belatedly.

"Alph? You in here?"

Someone once told her that picking up hobbies is important. Variety is the spice of life or some equally hackneyed bullshit like that.

Well, wherever she heard that sort of stuff from, it wasn't a conscious decision Rey had made. When her harmonica endeavors failed spectacularly as she has not a musical note in her soul (or maybe not one befitting of a harmonica), she's decided to try other things instead. Mostly out of boredom than because of tired old idioms.

She wasn't (entirely) lying when she talked about crocheting. Since she had never done it before and she oftentimes finds herself short on clothing material no thanks to her risky lifestyle, she figured she'd take up a related diversion to pass the time a few months back.

Now you could hardly consider her a crochet expert, she has honed her craft better than she did starting out.

After waking up to a letter and a new accessory that day, Rey has been less than inclined to participate. Not out of disrespect for Sorrow, as she has no reason to hold any ill will towards the god, but she just doesn't see the point. Blessings are helpful, sure, but not at the cost of bumming out the people she's with.

And that is exactly why, at random places around the city, one can find a pile of the saddest balls you will ever see. Blue is a fitting color, much like the bracelet around Rey's wrist as she's in the process of weaving more thread together via metal hooks. Her posture is oddly relaxed, slouched in a chair with a leg up on a table of a bar or a crate outside, the other leg sprawled in front of her. How very unladylike.

She maintains an expressionless greeting to anyone passing by or approaching who might regard her. To which she might also answer their silent question by taking one of her blue creations before squeezing it in a calloused hand.

"It's a stress ball," she explains, simple and blasé.

Jo watches Rey for a moment as she crochets, interested in the process. It looks interesting, but she probably wouldn't ever pick it up.

"A stress ball?"

Nagato Uzumaki | OTA | Near Sorrow's Temple

Being on team Sorrow suited Nagato just fine. He had a lot of things to be sad about and he was very good at doing nothing but succumb to melancholy all day. But it wasn't the goal here, was it? They were supposed to be... "competiting" or something of the sort, though Nagato wasn't much of a competitor to begin with, and the idea of winning by actively making people sad wasn't one he liked to entertain.

But to be sure to not piss off a god he knew nothing about (at least for now.), Nagato set off to Sorrow's Temple. He'd spent his morning scavenging for supplies, and they were all attached on the back of his yak summon. Once he found a relatively flat space next to the river, the ninja began to build a small shrine to the departed. Back home, those shrines were often build on former battlefields, to help calm the lonely souls of the shinobis fallen here. In Hadriel, it will just be a place to pray for those you had lost. It was rather crude but Nagato can't do much more, and he decorated the thin planks with some of his elegant scrawl, using the ink he found with his finger because he didn't find any brush anywhere.

Nagato will be found here all day, kneeling in prayer. If anyone from the Team Sorrow wanted to help, they just had to bring something to make the shrine more like a real shrine. Everyone else can just come and pray for those departed too soon.

Tyki Mikk | OTA | Everywhere

Team Confusion, huh? It never quite settled with him that any god would pick him at all. At first it was almost distasteful and it left him with a need to ignore it all together but that thrill to win itched at the back of his mind. Not to mention he was getting rather bored just doing nothing.

He's up way before the sun would begin to rise if there was one and hitting the shops for anything in an abundant amount. It's why there are socks decorating random walls literally hanging from inside with no clue as to how they got into it. It's almost as if they are stuck within the very center of the bricks and tiles that decorate their lovely city. They are hanging from a lot of things. Lampposts, signs, walls, tree branches. A sharp tug will only tear them. He's used his Power to Choose to phase through objects and bury half the sock inside.

Or maybe it's the knives. Thankfully Tyki's taken the consideration of pushing the knives straight down into the ground. They are pretty nice looking knives only found along the walkways of Hadriel. He doesn't want anyone falling and stabbing themselves on accident. Then Fear happens and Confusion doesn't win. A nice tug will also result in nothing to gain. It's stuck in there as if it is made of the stone itself.

In any case Tyki is often close by watching. It's just too amusing not to watch. He might laugh.

While it wasn't much effort for most to set up each little item along the streets and buildings Tyki on the other hand often could only expend so much effort at once. Back to the wall and sliding down he'll take a break there with all the confidence that he'll be safe and content if he just rests there. It's hard not to doze off considering how early he got up when usually he slept in until at least 10. Then again, there were days he didn't bother to get up at all until around 2 or 3.

If he's not asleep he's snacking on sandwiches and apples around lunch time on one of the roofs. He's rather content with his handiwork even if small on the Confusion front. He's not exactly hiding himself or the bracelet he's wearing and he certainly wouldn't mind the company.

If Tyki's dozing, Kanda's certainly going to be as stealthy as humanly possible. He had gotten Fear, which honestly amused him more than anything else given the fact that he had publicly challenged him months ago. Then again, that did cause quite a panic in the populace... So he could see the reasoning behind it.

The issue being, he hasn't been motivated to bring such a panic sense.

But, finding your enemy dozing on the streets? That was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Trying to kill Tyki would be too predictable, not to mention the flare of Innocence would jolt him awake. That was no fun. Instead, Mugen rests quietly and innocently at his side as he's kneeling down in front of Tyki.

Okay, so he didn't quite think this through??? This was more Lavi's area of pranking than anything else. Maybe if he just....waited? Quietly.

Kain Highwind | Everywhere, OTA | Backstabbing for Team Confusion

Already a naturally competitive type, Kain feels that whole compulsion kicking into overdrive all of a sudden. When he sees that message, he wants nothing more than to win and win hard. So he's going to do all he can to make this happen... even if he still has issues about the gods.

So how, exactly, to spread Confusion around? That's sadly all too easy, as far as Kain is concerned.

Betrayal. Betrayal is the only answer.

It's a familiar tactic for him, back when he was controlled and even when he was trying to win the war for Cosmos. Here he goes again... sigh... But winning means that much to him that he'll do it. After taking off his bracelet and concealing it away somewhere, he's not identifiable as belonging to any god whatsoever. That's how it has to be for now, unless he can manage to steal someone else's (and he sure will be keeping an eye out for a chance to do that, too).

Then he wanders off and throughout Hadriel, going all over the place. When he spots someone who he wants to target, Kain approaches. He makes sure to only approach people with easily seen bracelets. He'll approach his real team mates to conspire with... and of course, he also approaches those of every other team as well, acting overall very friendly.

"The gods have set us quite the challenge, haven't they?"

While she *is* competitive right now, Rydia's main concern still is to get others to feel better so...

"Only because people here don't have a positive attitude." Frankly, the summoner doesn't really know how to spread hope in such a negative place so she's just... there giving random hugs around and offering encouraging people to every person she encounters. Better ideas will pop up later, eventually, but at least she's getting started, right?

In the meanwhile, congratulations Kain! You're definitely feeding Hope and Delight right now!

"But look at you! Are you really with Hope in this? I'm proud of you, Kain, really proud. I worried you'd end up with Rage or Sorrow but no- Hope. I am certainly glad you're finally starting to look at the future with a more positive attitude... come here, you stupid tin-man." Everyone gets a big hug today, Kain included. Yes, she isn't happy to hug an armor but... that will do. "So, any plan? I don't have so many ideas..."

Hannah Washington | OTA | Everywhere

[ Hannah is the poster child for sorrow. For fear too, probably, given her great terror for what she's learned is waiting for her back home. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that there is a fate worse than death just around the corner, looming, ready to pounce at any given moment. People come and go all the time (taken by some 'Door,' they say) and so she could have this life she'd been building snatched away in an instant.

Despite herself, the teen moans pitifully, wrapping her arms around herself in a little hug.

The compulsion is there, just like it is for everyone else. To spread sorrow (for Sorrow) and to 'win' some... stupid game. Hannah chews on her lip as she walks around town, silently bemoaning her situation, trying to avoid people as best as possible. It may not help that she's nearly radiating anxiety and despair, for those inclined to help others out.

It may not happen, they could be wrong. Who's ever heard of freaking Wendigo, right? Even - Even if those same things had apparently been in this city. In Hadriel. Hannah shivers at the idea, very grateful that she hadn't arrived when people were transforming into what her friends say will happen to her.

[It's not so much that Adam is the type to help others out, and more that he feels a sense of kinship with her - which he's not stupid enough to attribute to anything except the gods. She's a stranger, after all. But she looks upset, and frankly this whole thing has been kind of upsetting all around. Who wants to be on Team Sorrow anyway? Doesn't that just mean you're either miserable yourself or good at making other people sad?

Adam would like to believe that neither of those things are true about him. But in Hannah's case - well, it's kind of obvious just from looking at her that she's unhappy. He approaches, careful to keep his distance so she doesn't feel uncomfortable.]

The less violent option

The amount of interaction AM has had thus far with the gods has not gone entirely well. Part of him has been wary of contacting them, but another part wants to viciously demand that he gets back what is rightfully his - his own form, his abilities. And yet, does he want to sacrifice this form? Does he want to give up the ability to feel, to taste food, to smell flowers...? It's a question he mulls over each day, but every time he thinks about it, the more incensed he grows.

Perhaps it's fitting, then, that he has been contacted by Rage. At first when AM reads this, he almost thinks it's a joke. Dividing people up on teams like some silly 1980s summer camp... AM certainly isn't wrong when he thinks the gods and their antics are incredibly childish.

But rage is indeed the emotion he feels the most. If he goes around simply being himself, then he could get a prize. Perhaps he will be able to get a power for himself. Of course, if AM himself were leading something ridiculous like this, the prize he would grant would be something hideous and unwanted, or else it would be a prize that they could not make use of. He is entirely expecting that to be the result, but there is nothing wrong with actually doing something. It takes no effort on his part to spread the feeling of rage, after all.

If one sees AM out and about, he won't be wearing his usual half-grimace, a sullen look that expresses his discontent with this place. Instead, his lips are curled into a smug sort of smirk. He is armed with weapons in case anyone should attack him out of rage. He conceals a knife, having had some sort of training with it. While he might have larger weapons in his apartment, they certainly are obtrusive and make him seem more imposing than he might initially want to seem.

He might stop and greet your character and ask for a little chat. "Why hello. Isn't the weather lovely today?" Weather inside of a cave, nonetheless. He has to build up to the rage inducement, after all. Going up to people and blatantly shouting something derogatory is just going to make him look weird.


The more violent option

One of the difficult aspects of this task is to induce rage instead of fear, though. Going up and attacking someone is going to make them fear for their lives, unless he attacks someone who isn't weak. But then he doesn't want to be attacked in return, does he? For now, he decides to cause pain on a small level. When he isn't pleasantly greeting others, he might sneak up behind someone and dump a hot cup of tea on their head. Surely after that initial shock, they will feel anger, won't they? It's quite childish, yes, but it's a fine way to start out.

If he's feeling particularly bold, though, it's entirely possible he could go up to your character, brandishing a knife or sword. He wants to think he can prepare for whatever fight ensues, but he might run in the end.

However, he is much better with weapons than he was when he first got here...

Jo Harvelle | OTA | Team Delight

[Jo couldn't help but laugh when she awakes to find a letter from Delight. After their most recent conversation, Jo was a little amazed the god wanted anything to do with her.

She eyes the bracelet for a moment before shrugging and heading for her stash. She doesn't have anything special, after some examination of her supplies, so she heads out of spire two and practically prowls the street.

Even if she doesn't know you, she'll call out and ask if you want a drink. Might as well take advantage of the bar while she's doing this, right?]

She orders a glass of beer as she sits down next to Cecily, the bracelet designating her as part of Team Hope (and she's still bemused by that choice) still on her wrist. )

[The first time Cole trips, he's confused. There wasn't any reason he should have, as far as he can tell. The second time, he falls over and sits on the ground for a moment before he gets up again. Something strange is going on.

The third time he vanishes, then reappears balanced somewhat precariously (though completely unfazed by it) on the ledge of a windowsill partway up a nearby building, looking down at the street where he just was. He couldn't see anyone, but he didn't exactly feel alone, either.]

Alphys | OTA, around the city | Team Fear

Alphys isn't gonna lie, ending up team Fear is not actually what she expected. Sure, she's probably been singlehandedly keeping the guy alive with the sheer amount of anxiety that radiates off her at any given moment, but inspiring it in other people? She's not incredibly full of ideas. She knows better than anyone that being afraid isn't exactly a nice thing to do to people, and considering she's already certain to be on a few resident's shit lists, she's pretty keen on not getting on more.

Until finally, it hits her. Or well, should we say, hits you.

Alphys has used her engineering prowess to booby-trap a number of the city's shops, entryways, and corners with harmless jumpscares- some of them include proximity sensors that set off a loud alarm when you pass through a doorway, or others may drop a load of shaving cream directly on your head. Sure, it might inspire a little more confusion than fear, but she's careful in her work and it should be keeping everyone on their toes. Perhaps you went scavenging for food and got a fake pie to the face. Maybe you catch her resetting another trap. Maybe you just get scared anyway because a lizard woman pops out of the shadows next to you and you're not used to that yet. Regardless, she'll be bouncing between the devices, checking for trips and resetting as necessary for the next couple of days, seeming to actually be enjoying herself- as long as the prank-ee seems to be in ok spirits afterwards as well.

He's been thinking to himself lately, keep calm Danse. You can do this. You can not lose your temper and be the one dragging the team down. Positive reinforcement is supposed to work like that, right? Keep chanting it in your head over and over again, just fake it till you make it.

Problem with the chanting is that you're so focused on an inner monologue, you can't really keep a strict eye on the road. The lack of sleep doesn't help either. In the end, Danse ends up missing that bit of wire that triggers the trap when he pushes the door open.

There are very few things that can scare Danse. A fake pie in the face is not one of them, but it does give him a nasty shock to suddenly have a faux cream filling with a plastic crust base smushed into his face. That's day 2 of having to go home and take a shower because someone thought it'd be funny to dump food on him. Or fake food, in this case.

Bianca| Confusion | OTA | LIKELY TO ATTEMPT MIND CONTROL PLS LMK IF THIS IS OKAY OR NOT

Bianca did not take the news of her selection by Confusion well, and she spends the first day sequestered in her room.

Then she realises that being angry about it merely rewards Rage for the monstrous injustice of not choosing Bianca, and she folds away her rage and hurt to use another day. When she finally leaves 1301, she is composed, serene and smiling, and ferociously determined to leave a trail of disorientation and uncertainty in her wake.

She is not wearing her bracelet; orange is not Bianca's colour and she prefers not to draw attention to her forced allegiance. Instead, she greets everyone she sees sunnily, whether she knows them or not.

The sunny greeting is much welcomed by this one; Pell smiles back, shifting the weight of the bag on his shoulder. With so many people trying to spread fear and rage right now, he's happy to see a friendly face. "Bianca. Good afternoon." His bracelet is hidden beneath the sleeve of his jacket so she can't check for allegiances. Not yet, anyway -- he'd gladly tell her, in any case.

[ This is followed by a grin, before Duck whips out a favourite comic book of his and shows it off. He will ask anyone this, for the most part - but he is a little more likely to approach someone if they're under eighteen (or at least, they look like they're not a grown up), or else someone who just does not look immediately intimidating. ]

Sharon da Silva | OTA | Team Fear

▍▍▍▍ I. Early Event | Pre-Bar Explosion | OTA

[ Sharon is rarely one to participate in these style of events, primarily because every part of her being wants to rebel against the gods, but a payment less request (which is far from payment less when one considers their team has to win) from Fear could be a great way to gather more information from him—about his past and the being that came in and killed the rest of the gods. She'd rather not have to go about another three day stay at chez Fear.

It takes her some time to come up with a way to inspire fear without causing a ton of damage to people's mental health or physical health. She'd rather not lead people into Silent Hill quite yet, so she considers her other abilities: telekinesis and pyrokinesis.

And so, early on, Sharon can be found in the city. She's got the green friendship bracelet on, for the ease of teammate recognition. When she spots someone from another team, when she feels that spike of competitiveness rise in her, she concentrates. In mere moments, the hem of their shirt, or their pants, or their sleeve catches fire.

It might not even be immediately noticeable. The fire doesn't rage, doesn't attempt to devour them, but it sure is heartstopping, isn't it?

If they attempt to look for the perpetrator, all they'll see is Sharon da Silva, rifling through her pack as if she hadn't noticed the fact that someone nearby just caught fire. ]

▍▍▍▍ II. Near the End of the Event | OTA

[ As the event winds down, or ramps up, in this case, Sharon ups her game, now more than ever determined to win. The fucking bar—the fucking bar was gone, gone in an explosion that took with it what felt like her only way to escape their situation for a couple of hours.

Those near Tranquility's temple will find a trail of fresh blood. Real blood. She knows better than to use red paint, knows that there are people here that can tell the difference. There are signs of a struggle in the dirt and smears of blood on the ground. Should someone follow the trail, they'll soon find themselves surrounded by fog and ash. The trail continues within the zone, drips here and there and then: there. There's a handprint on one of the buildings, one that smears towards the door.

Whoever needs help, they must be in there. Go in, but know that the moment your character does, the siren will sound and Sharon will have the Red Pyramid hunt them down, it's only purpose to terrify, not maim this time around. Haven't you always wanted to go through your own personalized hell? Sharon's here to help with that. ]

Closed to Danse

[ The siren sounds as soon as Danse gets further into the city, dropping a blanket of darkness around him. The pitch of the siren seems to echo off the buildings around him, and, should he have a light on him, turning it on will only give him a horrible view of the world melting away, rotting right beneath his feet.

When the siren's wail ends, the world is different. There is no turning back the way he came, there is no escape, not until the siren releases him, and it won't release him until he's encountered the worst parts of himself, his worst fears. And it will use it all against him. From her seat in the world, upstairs in one of the buildings, Sharon sits, wrapping her bloody palms as he goes to take on her reality.

There are the sounds of heavy footfalls in the distance, lumbering, lingering, echoing. It almost sounds like someone in a set of power armor but the way the world distorts sound in this place makes it difficult to assess without investigating. Tread carefully, Danse, for not far are your monsters. One, a female, familiar faced but her skin has a sheen of blue to it, eyes dark; her arms are twisted strangely and her jaw hangs open widely, in a form of abject horror. The second? The second one's face is obscured but it wears familiar BoS power armor. The two are clearly in some sort of tussle.

Should Danse get close, make a noise where these two creatures notice him, the first creature will run, letting out a shriek of terror that sounds a little too much like Nora to be of any comfort. The second monster takes off after the first, each footfall as heavy as the one before it. Nothing good will happen if Danse follows. Nothing good will happen if Danse stays. ]

Rey | 20th | OTA for Team Sorrow: The Old Bar

While the demolition of the bar that had come with Delight's arrival would have likely elicited emotions of the negative variety, there is an opportunity to be found here. Despite Rey sorely lacking in the competitive edge that was supposed to come with this whole week, memory serves for the better as she seeks a quick alternative.

The dusty old place clearly hasn't been tended to for months when she first investigates. Those who lacked in knowledge or use of the previous bar established by a former city occupant had seemingly lost its purpose when the more lively, more well-stocked successor.

Unlike Delight's establishment, however, this place is quiet in all sense of the word. It could use some music, sure. Some polish here and there. Maybe someone with enough time and boredom to dedicate their energy to such a cause.

Fortunately Rey has both of those things in abundance.

Over the next several hours and a severe lack of sleep, the bar has transformed from a dank, musty and forgotten endeavor to an actual working restaurant. Bottles have been organized, but one will find a dearth in any alcoholic substances.

Mostly because Rey is hoarding those behind the bar, where she has now settled. Dim lights illuminate the facility, drawing attention to it from the outside as a place in working order. Several colored bottles and boxes of fruit logos are kept on shelves or safe in the space under the counter, where the scarce liquor supply is stored. There isn't much in the ways of decoration, save for a series of blue stress balls bearing downcast faces on tables and other random, possibly secret hidden spots.

For those looking to take a load off with snacks and refreshments, there is more in abundance to share. Maybe you're someone Rey knows who's wondering where the hell she's been the last twenty-four hours, and maybe you've made use of the tracking system in their phones.

And for everyone else wishing to drink their sorrows away...

Well, they've come to the perfect place. If they say please.

It had been pure luck that Danse had crossed paths with Rey. Otherwise, he'd have never found his way to the speakeasy.

Seated at the bar itself and nursing a cup of juice, he'd been content to enjoy Rey's quiet company in silence when he suddenly remembers something that Rey should know. Weary eyes look up from his drink.

"Watch out for a man wearing a top hat called Jacob Frye and a skeleton called Sans. Those two deliberately sabotaged our efforts at the library the other day. They might get ideas to disrupt this place next."

Well, fair enough, the Doctor supposes in response to the note. Not that it's not a bit...something. Offensive? Silly, definitely. And definitely rude, cryptic notes? A bracelet? Good lord. What, no decoder ring in his cereal? This is the one instance he's glad the Time Lords are too overstuffed with dignity to embrace this kind of nonsense, in their coercive efforts. At least this is a new brand of entirely pointless. Not even the worst thing he's been made to wear in the name of someone else's hoops to jump through.

He considers his options. Being uncooperative sounds as appealing as always, but it's not very strategic, is it. This could help a lot of people. Oh, he's not an idiot, not often this time; he doesn't think wishing to get out of all this is a real option, for even a second, not even with himself acting as the appointed loophole spotter. He doesn't think anything truly valuable is a real option, in this specific instance and just in general, which is probably an insight into why Sorrow chose him. He pushes the bracelet under his sleeve. Just because he's willing to cooperate doesn't mean he's joined the circus.

Which brings him back around to the goal of this stupid exercise, and also to the bar, after some determined and thoughtful trudging. Bars are sorrowful places, he reasons, regardless of their religious affiliations. There might be enough of a grey area in what constitutes 'spreading sorrow' to comfortably park the remains of his morality, in the right location. Beats wandering the city slapping ice cream out of children's hands, or whatever the alternative is. Sorrow's bound to be plentiful enough, this can probably be navigated without causing any real tragedy, for once. The irony's not lost.

Jacob Frye did not come to the bar to be feeding Sorrow. As a member of the opposing team, he was supposed to be inspiring some delight into anyone he passed by. But there isn't a lot of familiarity in the city besides old taverns and finely aged wine, and the discovering modern technology was tiring.

He figures he has something in common, he and the Doctor. This man's old enough to be exhausted with it, right? It's not like he's traveled in some... weird... technology... no sir. He's only judged him as old for now.

[he smiles, as charming as he can be with his boyish features. he holds up his camera and motions towards it. what's the best way to make others happy, but to make them feel they are definitely worth the trouble of getting asked to have their picture taken.]

B. LOCKED TO ARDYN / MARCH 17

[prompto woke up feeling an even greater urge to do what he's always aimed for: to spread cheer and make others happy. the idea of this being a competitive situation is part of what pushes him forward, but the idea of making the mood of others improve is his main goal here.]

[he'll start with making his family from home happy. he is no ignis in terms of cooking (or in any way, to be honest), but he knows how to prepare the most basic of cakes. he's pretty sure he's seen the ingredients for it in the store--and he's compelled to hurry there first thing soon after he wakes up to start baking.]

[the idea that the smell of vanilla cake baking in the oven will undoubtedly thrill his housemates spurs him on, smiling and humming to himself as he hurries into one of the stores, checking his hair (and the lack of gel...) on a reflective surface. he's already picked out a few eggs and flour, all he needs]

Milk, milk~ Making bones grow strong and shoot up tall♪

[he just about misses it, when he turns away from the glass door to continue down a different aisle, that he's not quite that alone.]

[part of him doesn't want to show his face at all, but he's got no choice. he's got nowhere else to go. between the bleeding and the bruises colouring on his pale skin, he's running out of excuses to tell himself it's fine; that he can handle this.]

[heavy with the weight of pain, he lands himself on his knees, back to a nearby building's wall. the blood over his eyes makes his vision blurry--and trying to clear that up with the back of his hand only makes things worse.]

[he just--needs to catch his breath; gather his energy. maybe it's best he heads to the clinic, were someone to find him.]

[A familiar voice calls out once the young man suddenly fell to his knees. Regis was making the journey to Sorrow's shrine carrying a bundle of flowers he gathered for the sake of honoring the fallen; when he happened upon this bloody scene before him. It took the old man a moment to realize it was Prompto but eventually the realization hits Regis like a violent torrent.

The blood is shockingly bright and thick across the young man's face and the bruises are purplish-black. Regis stares at the boy for a long time before suddenly dropping his bouquet. He closes the distance between them and kneels down beside the youth quickly. His hand reaches for that soft nest of bright sun-kissed hair and gently smooths the choppy bangs out of Prompto's eyes.]

What sort of madness transpired here? [He questions as he checks the youth over.] My poor lad, what happened to you? Were you attacked?

[Regis' voice is gentle as he tries to soothe the aches and pains away.]

You're safe now, Prompto. You're safe...
