... Rrrrright. [ Bit of an odd one. ] Well, you'd probably know better than I would. Unless you're new, too.

I'm Alistair, by the way. Grey Warden.

[ So far, only Cecily has had any idea what a Grey Warden is. But Alistair includes it in his introductions nonetheless. It may not be important to anyone else, but it's important to him. ]

[fadeling]

Yes. I can hear it, singing the song inside your blood. It's the same in the Deep Roads. [Darkspawn taint isn't something that he can really mistake for anything else.]

Hello. I used to be Cole. You can call me that.

[adorabastard]

You— what?

[ He takes a step backward — involuntary, instinctive — and his eyes widen as the name registers. ]

Cole. [ He's suddenly hyperaware of his lack of armor. ] Cecily told me about you. You're a spirit.

[ He's wary, to be sure, and doesn't attempt to mask that in his tone. But hostile? Afraid? ... Not really. Thank Wynne and the spirit within her for that. ]

[fadeling]

Yes I hear the whispers so they can sing their songs, too. Voices leave echoes and someone so they aren't sad. [At least he was warned?]

Is that bad?

[adorabastard]

[ Warned, yes. Prepared to make sense of what Cole says? Not so much. The first part goes so far over his head, he wonders if it was even meant for him. ]

I ... I'm not sure. [ Cole is unfamiliar. Unknown. He doesn't know what to think. ] I know there are spirits who do good things. and I know more than I care to about demons. [ A pause. ] You don't look like a demon.

[ Well. That's good, at least? ]

I'm not. I don't hurt people. If I do you should kill me. [He's very serious about that.]

Secrets sighed in silence sing their singing, soft and sibilant. I hear the hurts and I help them.

[adorabastard]

[ Alistair doesn't miss the seriousness of Cole's words. It's not something that he expected the boy to say. And, in Alistair's experience, it's certainly not something that a demon would say.

[ The former templar relaxes slightly. ]

You were [ are? ] a spirit of compassion, right?

[fadeling]

[Good, then maybe he'll actually do it.]

Yes. Heal the hurting, help the helpless. I hear the hidden things and make them whole again.
