mingling & conversation
1502 is open (literally, the door never closed on this evening) and prepared for some level of a gathering. There is a huge dog within the house, too, but he seems friendly and enjoys the company (with whatever treats and pats on the head that company may bring).
Come in and stay a while! ]
Cole
Wherever he is or isn't, he's quiet, for the most part, listening instead of participating in the conversations, but he doesn't actually seem unapproachable, either--just hard to fine.]

Can you see all right under there?
no subject
Yes. Why? Is there something to look at?
no subject
Oh, just the usual. A house full of strange objects that do bizarre things. People from other worlds. A few animals. Food. General party-ness. You know, that sort of thing.
no subject
I've already seen the rest.

Is this too overwhelming? [ She asks him quietly, once she catches sight of him. ] I know I can... well, overdo it, but...
[ She cares about his opinions, of course. He's one of her closest friends. ]

Rey. | OTA
Christ. What was that? A year ago? Maybe more? Time really has a way of getting away from her.
Either way, the beast is the first thing that summons Rey's immediate attention when she walks in through that front door. She's carrying a bag in one hand -- some extra homebrew that she'd concocted before leaving the Speakeasy -- while reaching out to touch the dog on the head with her other. It's so brutish looking, not exactly as majestic as Emily's wolf... but still, the mindless happiness it seems to exude is charming.
"Heh," she laughs almost nervously as she remembers you should probably invite a dog to smell your hand first. That's how it works, right?

Cecily appears, surprisingly without a glass in hand. She grins at Rey, then glances back down to the mabari, considering.
"I don't know anything about training dogs," she admits, sighing. "I don't - didn't even like them. All things considered... he's been very well-behaved since Cullen left."
And thank the Maker for that. What would she do otherwise, if the mabari had gone berserk without its master around?
no subject
If he was going to bite her, he'd let her know, wouldn't he? Dogs growl and stuff when they're pissed and warning you to back off.
Rey draws her hand back when Cecily approaches, though. She glances to the woman out the corner of her eye. "Cullen... That was the guy who used to walk this dog? Might've met him, but... we didn't introduce names."
Not that Rey was feeling chatty at the time. In fact, she wasn't feeling much of anything.
no subject
It was his, after all, so it made sense. Fereldans and their mabari...
"When he left, the dog stayed." Cecily shrugs, laying a hand on Pup's head. "And here we are."
no subject
He seemed rather unnerved by Rey's disposition at the time. To be fair, he wasn't the only one, and there were those who had plenty reason to be that way. Who can hold it against them?
"That's a good thing at least, right? It's almost like not all of him left, or maybe there's a chance that he'll come back to reclaim his dog from the damned gods."

Elena Gilbert .. OTA
She brings Cecily two bottles of something labeled scotch that she hasn't tried. She knows the gods can only conjure what's explained to them, so she hopes it suffices.
At a few points in the night, she pets the big dog that comes up to her. She makes note of any decorating touches Cecily has made, eyeing the walls and yet more misshapen furniture. She is friendly, as she reminds herself to smile, greeting anybody warmly. ]

[ The hostess appears with a smile, watching the near-stranger as she peruses the home's meager offerings. ]
I hope this isn't too disappointing. [ She remarks, and then laughs. ] There's only so much that you can do in this place, you know... as far as gatherings go, that is.
no subject
[ She replies, recognizing the Inquisitor from their one exchange. She thinks it would be more weird, one conversation and then a face-to-face but she isn't from the generation where this is custom. Caroline tried to explain Tinder to her once. ]
It's my first of its kind here, so, it's something I haven't done yet, but I always liked smaller gatherings. And bigger gatherings. [ She likes gatherings. ] Everyone's nice.
no subject
[ She's grinning, still, though. ]
I prefer smaller gatherings, myself. These little houses lend themselves to that. [ beat ] Can I get you anything?
no subject
I'm okay for now. I found what I thought was beer, but tastes like champagne. [ So, technically, best of both worlds, perhaps. ] You could work better at not being nice. My advice is to talk to almost anybody else down here. [ Her subtle dig at the disposition of nearly everyone in Hadriel. ]

food & drink
The food is what you might expect from Hadriel, not Thedas. There are fish from the lake and rivers, fruits and vegetables taken from the orchards, and a few random (but edible) bits and pieces from shops and the old restaurants. There is also, for some reason, a single plate bearing about a dozen sugar cookies. ]
Alistair | OTA!
No, that's not for you.
[ This is said at regular intervals to the large, scaly, winged cat draped across his shoulders. Its orange eyes are locked on the plate of cheese. ]
No cheese, Purrgon.
[ The cat seems to listen, for a few moments. Then it's right back to eyeing the cheese, and the cycle begins anew. ]

You adopted one of them? [ But then she has to laugh, shaking her head. ] Andraste's tits, that's - amazing.
[ And horrifying. Mostly horrifying. ]
I s'pose anything's better than a nug. [ She decides, adopting a lopsided smile. ]
no subject
Elena is, however, refilling her drink.
She smiles to herself, setting the bottle down. Right, parties are for mingling. ] I could move it higher up, but, maybe Purrgon would paw at it more. [ If it helps, Purrgon looks comfortable. ] I have one, too, except mine skipped the wings gene. She's all teeth.
wicked grace
The hostess herself will certainly be involved, looking to be in high spirits as she does moderately well at this occasional Inquisition pastime.
