"Mabari? That what they're called?" Rey blinks at the canine. "Have never seen a breed like that before. Seen big brutes of dogs, but not like that."

Admittedly, Rey has limited familiarity about dogs and their various breeds, though she's been around that she's completely devoid of knowledge.

"Mm," Cecily confirms, with the wearied smile of a cat person who owns a dog. "They're the symbol of the country of Ferelden, more or less. I've not heard of them coming from any other worlds but ours."

For some reason. Just adds to the appeal of the great, drooling things, she assumes.

"They are bred for war, but they make... decent-enough pets." You can't get her to admit that she loves the fur-child, though.

The concept of war dogs is not lost to Rey. They've been prevalent throughout history for their keen sense of smell and hearing, making them rather convenient trackers and sentries. But they hardly make for effective front line defense in a combat zone.

"Guess our worlds have that in common. They're a valuable workforce as well as companionship. Never owned one personally, though."

Not that Rey wouldn't want to. She just isn't sure she'd trust herself; she barely knows what to do with herself with a cat and goldfish.

"Neither have I." She looks at Pup, realizes the... perhaps contradictory nature of that, and then chuckles. "He's still bonded with Cullen, no matter who he lives with. Cullen was from Ferelden, and these hounds are the symbol of the country, more or less." There's a pause. "I was - am from the Free Marches, where we are more or less indifferent to dogs."

Yes, she's certainly warmed up to Pup, but she'd previously preferred the quiet judgment of cats, if she had to have animals around at all.
