Clinic Mingle/Welcome Back Kate!
Who: clinic staff, visitors, and guests
What: a mingle!
Where: at the clinic!
When: July 12th
Warnings: maybe some medical/injury chatter? please mark your threads!
It's come to Pell's attention that not everyone at the clinic knows one another, what with the staff building back up, so he wanted to do this anyway... and Kate is back, which makes this seem like the perfect time to host a little get together. So on the 11th, once all the new arrivals are all healed up from their stings and scrapes and things at the clinic are quiet again, staff and regular friends of the clinic get a simple text invitation.
Come meet your fellow clinic staff and our helpers as we celebrate the return of its champion, Kate Galloway.
5pm tomorrow night
And sure enough, the evening of the 12th, it's party time. The door's been propped open invitingly and there's soft music playing off a cell phone. One of the exam tables has been very thoroughly cleaned and set with a tablecloth, and there are beverages and snacks courtesy of Pell and Hannibal. (The food is not people don't worry.)
(( This post is open to all clinic staff, visitors, and guests, or even just anyone who might wander by and be like 'wow what's going on in there'? New helpers always welcome. Come mingle. :3 ))

Rosen / OTA
So here he is. Standing awkwardly near a wall but trying his best to look friendly. Its not always successful. Mostly he looks like he's about to bolt at any minute if given the chance, eyes darting around the room.
He's cleaned himself up well, pale blue dress shirt and a gray dinner jacket and his long silver hair brushed neatly back out of his face. He's off of alcohol ever since the more unfortunate incident during the wild party a month or so ago so he sticks to juice and water with the occasional nibble of anything that looks like it would normally be meant for a rabbit.

When he notices that Rosen is becoming a permanent wallflower, though, Pell heads over, leaning against the wall beside him casually. He knows Rosen died, from Will's post, and is guessing that the man is having a hard time with it still. "You look nice tonight," he offers with a smile, friendly and harmless.

"Thank you," Lee murmurs politely. He's never sure how these things go. Does he reciprocate the same compliment? Or does that sound disingenuous even if he means it? Certainly Pell does look nice, and certainly nicer than an old man with scruff and in dire need of a haircut.
"And thank you for arranging all of this."

The shops in Hadriel are as awkward to find clothes in as ever, but there's one black romper with white pipe detailling around the hems that catches her eye and gets picked up. There's going to be plenty of days where jeans and t-shirts are all she'll wear, but tonight she doesn't mind something different.
But it's probably not surprising to find her sipping at some alcohol while meandering over to the food. What might be is that she opts for a few sticks of carrot - or carrot-like food - over the more interesting dishes.
"Always wanted to do summat like this. Never found the time." It's good that someone did.

"I really never think of these kinds of things." After med school the only parties Lee Rosen was in attendance were fundraisers and award nights for the NYC medical boards and the occasional office christmas parties when he worked at integrated clinics. On these occasions he had been there primarily as a all-but-mandatory part of his job. It never looked great for one of the clinic partners to simply not attend social events.
"And I can promise you you haven't missed any clinic parties while you've been away." He straightens a bit. "Though, maybe now we could all make a more concentrated effort." Is he actually enthusiastic about the thought of more parties? Not really, but everyone seems to enjoy it, it helps to ease the stress of living in a murdercave, and that is reason enough for him.

Adam approaches, sighing a little in relief once he's out of the main cluster of people - once he's got a little distance from the work of socializing.
"I don't really like parties much either."
no subject
He offers him a joking smile that confirms that, yes, he knows he was being that obvious.
"I've never been good at these more formulaic occasions. The ones where you know there is a general plan: dress up, eat, drink, and there's an end-goal of forcing, er, encouraging interaction with other people. 'Mingling' I think the young people call it. I never learned the art of 'mingling'."

He can barely manage to say that with a straight face. But after a moment he drops the joke and nods towards the others. "It may not be for me, but at least it cheers up some of the others, yeah?"

kate. ota.
Hadriel has a lot of problems, but there are ways to forget about it for a while, and a party is a guaranteed way. So she heads through the shops, skips more clothes than she actually likes, but finally finds a black romper with white detailling that's nice enough. Some flats, and pale rose hair pushed loosely over a shoulder, and she's good for tonight.
Kate can be found drinking something for a good portion of the night, usually closer to the office than any of the rooms used for work. It's easy enough to strike up a conversation with a simple hi, but she'll stop people occasionally as well to ask how they're doing.
Towards the end of the night, you'll also find her on the steps, hanging just outside the clinic and skimming over her phone if she's by herself, maybe looking up at the cave ceiling now and again. And she wonders where Shadow is, hasn't seen him since she got back, and that's... unusual, when he's a blur so often found on the rooftops. )

The two places are far enough apart that she's not too worried, but there's still a certain amount of trepidation when she comes up, reads the sign and... oh.]
'Champion'?
[she snorts. Well, at least it's not anything important. Which is cue enough to poke her head in. It's quiet enough for now, but who's to say what it'll be like past the point she's heard.]
Why is there always something going on over here?
no subject
Kate catches Marian as she pokes her head in, mid-wander of the clinic's halls, kind of aimless with no one to talk to. But the question's overheard and she pulls a face. Why wouldn't there be? )
'Cause shit happens a lot.
( They rarely get to do things like this, though. )
Least this is just fun.

Lance | OTA
On the other hand, Lance is much better with smaller groups, and he also has a lot on his mind at the moment. So he's not immediately sociable, and can be found lurking around the edges of the main room and drinking for the early part of the party.
Around the middle of the evening he's a little more outgoing, thanks to two
or threedrinks, and seeks out people he doesn't; he's definitely not drunk, just a little more calm, so his voice is even and friendly.]Hello. We haven't met yet.
[And later on, as things are winding down, he's retreated entirely to his unofficial office toward the back of the Clinic, and can be found there by anyone else trying to escape the party without actually leaving just yet.]

( She's had a couple of drinks as well, and the night's progressing nicely. It's good to see the people here again, but also to see them when everyone's fully relaxed, rather than dealing with the weight of everything Hadriel throws at people and the fact that they're always woefully, woefully undersupplied. )
Guess we just missed each other last time I were here.
( Though sometimes this place can be so hectic that even she missed out on meeting new staff for a while. Some comedy where one person slides into a room just as the other walks out of it. )
no subject
I think so; I believe we were both here for a short time, but I wasn't particularly involved with anything for the first few weeks.
[For good reason, but still.]
It's nice to meet you. Other people here think very highly of you.

Hey. I'm one of the new arrivals so probably not. I'm Nico.

You know Will, don't you?
[He's pretty sure Will said Nico was his boyfriend, actually, but Lance isn't sure if Nico wants that to be known so he doesn't mention it just yet.]

He circulates through the party, greeting people and making sure the food is well stocked, encouraging people to take some. It's not his food, not his party, but it makes him feel better and more comfortable to have something to do. It makes it much easier to talk to people.]
Kind of nice to see this place without any injured folks.
[He'll venture some careful conversation here and there, or Adam can be found taking a breather against one of the walls. Socializing is difficult, and not a skill he's exercised much since coming here - certainly not something that comes naturally to him.]

Hello Adam. It's nice to meet you in person.

It's nice to meet you, too. Sometimes I'm not sure the people on the network are entirely real.

She shows up a few minutes late and heads straight for the food, dropping off a few bottles of water at the end of the table just in case. She takes a curious bite of something she doesn't recognize and-]
Wow, this is good.
Will Solace | OTA
Not being of age and when your Camp Director threatens to turn people into bottles of wine, well, he stayed away from the stuff.
"This is going well."
sans | ota
He's not really doing much, all things considered. Nothing but sketching something out in that little notebook of his, practicing that glyphwork that's really the only reason he got recruited into this whole deal. Maybe he could pull off a practical joke or two, but he's pretty sure a health clinic is not the best place to be doing that. He's not even made an effort to dress up all fancy; he's in the same ratty jacket, track shorts, and stained t-shirt as always.
He's not even really drinking all that heavily. I mean, unless you feel like a skeleton can get adequately drunk from a bottle of dijon mustard. You'd be forgiven for assuming otherwise.
no subject
He wanders over, looking completely at ease approaching a skeleton since he summons them often back home - he's more than used to zombies, skeletons, and ghosts. "Hello."
no subject
"Heya. Don't think I seen you 'round here."
