[intro log] we're beary pleased to meet you!
Who: New arrivals - everybody!
What: Welcome to Hadriel. Enjoy the bears.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-17th
Warnings: Bears, made of bear meat. Possibly bear attacks. General confusion.
What: Welcome to Hadriel. Enjoy the bears.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: October 10th-17th
Warnings: Bears, made of bear meat. Possibly bear attacks. General confusion.
You awaken on the sandy ground of the colosseum. Its half-ruined walls rise around you, stretching up to the sky - or what passes as the sky, as instead of blue sky and clouds you'll only see a rocky ceiling far above, with a bright source of light illuminating the cave.
Where are you? What are you doing here? Who are all these other people? Pressing questions, but far more pressing right now are the giant, hungry dire bears who seem to have appeared here along with you, and who are now waking up as well. And boy, do they not seem happy about it.
Once you've fought, run away, or successfully hid from the bears, you've got an entire city to explore. Sure, a lot of it is in ruins and it's totally empty, except for you, your fellow arrivals, and the bears, but there's things to be found and stuff to investigate. You can even find a house to live in if you're one of those fancy types who prefers not to sleep on the streets.
Unfortunately, one thing that can't be found at first is food. Hopefully you brought some with you or you managed to kill a bear or two, because the city is entirely empty of food until the 13th of October, when you will awaken to a gift of food on your doorsteps. Some of it might be strange-looking and alien, but hey, at least it's edible, and you didn't even have to kill anything to get it! Someone's feeling generous. After this, food and other items will be able to be found in the various stores around the city, though if you're looking for something specific, you might not have any luck.
Not long after, on the 15th, the electricity in the houses - and the rest of the restored parts of the city - will sputter to life. Hopefully you're not too near any lights or outlets when that happens, because there's a fair chance of exploding bulbs and sparks flying. At least you can turn the lights on now, though!
So now you've got food and electricity, the bears are all either dead or have fled into the caves around the city (you didn't go too far in there, right?). Things are looking up! Except for the whole 'trapped in an alien city, what the hell are we doing here' thing. But that's probably not important, right?► This log covers October 10th-17th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well!
► The network will not be available until the 17th.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
Bruce Banner. Open.
[Bruce Banner hangs on to his calm, and his glasses, with equal amounts of determination and blind luck. He keeps quiet, and keeps to himself, generally not venturing out of the house, particularly not once hunger starts to make him snappish. For this reason, he can be difficult to catch sight of, just a quiet figure ducking from building to building, scavenging in hopes of finding something, a familiar face, anything to eat-
-or, to be perfectly honest, to use to take down a bear.]
15.
[More likely is that Bruce can be found after the power comes back on. Fed, rested- and only a little bit bloodied by a bursting lightbulb a little too close to him for comfort, he begins to spend more time out in earnest.
Quite honestly, he still feels a little rough around the edges in terms of socialization. He is, however, keenly aware that he is a responsible adult while a few of the other arrivals are very young, and that he has a better than average grasp of both first aid and the fundamentals of working with electricity. Plus, in a pinch, fighting off bears, which is a plus.
Today, he may approach if he sees a problem- a minor injury, a bit of uncooperative wiring or someone boarding up a broken window, or even just a look of confusion- and in a careful and quiet way, offer;]
Is there anything I can do to help?
12
Part of it is just exploring. He's restless and nervous about the bears, angry that he's in a situation like this again, worried about his friends. It makes him too antsy to just sit at home and wait to die of starvation, which brings him- here. To the same building that Bruce is currently sneaking into.
There's a raven perched in the shadows of one of the shelves, and, startled at the appearance of a stranger, she lets out a shrill cry. Alerted to the other man's presence, Ronan stands up taller, reaches into his pocket for a knife.]
Who's there?
no subject
[He steps out, with his hands passively up.]
Hey. Nothing in here that I can find. [And;] I'm sorry if I startled you.
no subject
[He clearly did. Ronan is just a sulky teenager who likes to pretend that he's fine when he's not.
Ronan flicks open the knife. It's an interesting thing, detailed with odd patterns and symbols, but the important part is that the blade looks awfully sharp.]
Tell me your name.
no subject
[Glancing from the knife, up to him.]
I don't have anything for you to steal, if that's what you're thinking.
no subject
I'm not a thief. [Though... he kind of looks like what most people would picture when they think of the word- tall, lean, buzzed hair and leather jacket, visible tattoo on his neck. He doesn't close the knife but he does lower it a bit.]
Ronan. What parts of the city have you been looking in?
no subject
[With all of the bears.]
Do you know what we're calling it?

He didn't know who was trying their best to avoid detection, but Steve had decided to find out -- just in case. The last thing he needed was someone in here with them who posed a threat.
He catches sight of them slipping into a building and follows after them, not doing much to hide his own presence since head on was his preferred method of interaction. He called out after he'd entered the building, wary of any sort of ambush, but hoping for the best.]
If you're hungry, I've got food to share. If not, I'd still like to know who else is down here with us. In case of emergency.
[Always good to do a head count.]

[Bruce says, at the sound of the voice, absolutely baffled. He pokes his head around the corner of the staircase, pulling his glasses off (he'd been into the wiring) and squints at him.
Jesus, it is him. Bruce's eyebrows climb up into his hairline, and he steps out quickly into the hallway.]
Good grief, Captain, I've never been so glad to see you in my life.
no subject
He gave Bruce a relieved smile, moving to come over to him.]
I can't exactly share the sentiment, but it's more because of where we are. Everything good with you?
[He was assuming so, since he thinks he would have noticed any sort of sign of Bruce having a bad day in the confines of the cavern.]
no subject
[No one likes him when he's hungry.]
You mentioned you had some food? I've been too wary of really engaging one of the bears, just in case, so I'm...
[An expansive sort of shrug. He's very close to being in trouble.]
no subject
Not that starving didn't have its drawbacks and potential disaster scenarios as well, but it was slower and gave the doctor more time. At Bruce's admission, Steve nodded, head jerking out the way he'd come in.]
It's nothing fancy, but it's meat and it'll do the job. Come on. The sooner you're fed, the better I'll feel.
[Not just because of the idea of what an angry, hungry Hulk might do. The thought that Bruce had been all but starving himself and Steve hadn't found him sooner didn't exactly make him feel like sunshine.]
no subject
[He slips down the stairs. The good news is, he at least looks well; the time spent living with the team was recent enough that he has built up reserves. His face is full and still has colour, his hair has been cut recently, and by someone other than himself. His clothes are showing the impact of the last few days, and there are smudges of bruises under his eyes, but both are new. He wasn't yet running on empty before he came here, which gives them leeway.]
So- any idea what's actually going on here?

How he managed the bad scrape on his left cheek isn't really important, but it probably had something to do with a fall considering the bits of gravel and dirt he's trying to carefully wipe away from the bleeding scraped-up skin there, pain setting his face into a grimace.
He startles when Bruce shows up, so focused on trying to get the dirt off his face without hurting it more that he was completely not paying attention to his surroundings. A glance at Bruce then away. Noah's not good with strangers, he's a little too shy and awkward to be totally good at first meetings.]
Um - It probably looks worse than it is...
...right?
no subject
[He promises, tilting his head, looking from it and then up to him.]
My name is Bruce, and I know first aid. Is it okay with you if I take a closer look?
no subject
Um. I wouldn't want to put you out, if you've got like an elsewhere to be. But.
[But Noah would appreciate it, he's always putting Adam out making Adam take care of him.]
no subject
[He says, with a little smile, reaching for the cleanest handkerchief he has, and finding his water.]
no subject
Um. My name's Noah.
no subject
[He says, warm, and so personable. He dabs gently at the blood, working slowly at getting the grime off his skin.]
Wish the circumstances were better, obviously. Where are you from?

when bruce approaches he finally looks away to give the man a slightly puzzled smile.] Heh, I guess I'm still sort of getting used to seeing so much magitechnology in one place.
[he seems to consider something, hesitates, before squaring his shoulders and asking anyway because, well. this is what he'd set out to do after leaving home again, wasn't it? even if he hadn't exactly planned to wind up here specifically, there was no reason to just stop looking.] Do you know... they're not using exspheres to power it, are they?
no subject
[Bruce admits, pushing his glasses up his nose.]
What's that?
no subject
it does sort of suggest that looking for them in this place might wind up being a bit trickier than he first considered though.]
They're kind of like little power sources? And they can be used to power up machinery or... there was a bridge between Meltokio and Syback that used a whole bunch of them to raise or lower it when they needed. Kind of like Mana I guess except... not?
[lloyd was probably the actual worst person to ask to explain this, sorry bruce.]
no subject
[And this isn't a thing.]
One more sign that there are multiple realities we're coming here from.
no subject
Did this place get split off from another one too? Is that why everyone is getting dragged here, you think?
no subject
[He admits, with a shake of his head.]
This kind of phenomena seems- so unlikely, and it can't be healthy, exactly.
