What: The event log for the Bad End event
Where: All over the city!
When: August 23rd-September 5th
Warnings: Bad futures, awkward conversations, smashed mirrors
You wake up to find a mirror at your bedside - a pretty nice one, too, a silver hand mirror perfect for fixing your hair in. Only when you try to do that, it's not your gorgeous reflection that you see. It's something else - a terrible future, just about as bad as anything you could imagine for yourself.
Maybe you see your loved ones dead on the ground, and you know it's your fault. Maybe you see the goal you've been working so hard for pulled out of your reach forever. Maybe you see someone you've hurt in the past ruining your life. Maybe you see your hot girlfriend leaving you to shack up with your worst enemy. Whatever you see, it really sucks, and you know that it's possible. This future could happen if you make the wrong choices, give in to your worst impulses.
Break the mirror if you want, but you'll see the same vision in any reflective surface in the city. You can't break them all, but you can sure try. And what will you do when you see your best friend's vision - and it features you betraying them?
Seek reassurance, give reassurance, lash out, vow to yourself that you'll never let it turn out that way, sink into the depths of sorrow because you feel like the future you see is inevitable. Whatever you do, it won't take away those visions - not until the event is over.► This log covers August 23rd-September 5th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you can't handle the idea of your dark future, or maybe you just accidentally slip and fall on a mirror shard, let us know here.
river
He had always known the Empire had always been a part of him, it always would be, but the image of seeing himself as a loyal soldier of the Republic shook him. And it was something that he preferred not to think about.
When he saw Maketh sitting by the river with a bottle of whiskey it wasn't difficult to figure out what was going on.]
While I would take delight in your pain, I won't ask what you saw if you have more whiskey.
no subject
I suppose you thought that was clever.
[Despite the words, there's no real malice in her tone.]
Sit, General. I'm getting very drunk.
no subject
[He cleared off a spot before sitting beside her, raising his eyebrows.]
So what did you see?
no subject
I saw something pointless. Shut up and drink.
[She waves the bottle at him, perhaps a tad more aggressively than she needs to.]
no subject
[He took the bottle, managing not to splash any on himself when she shoved it at him. He took a long drink, he was more than happy to not think about what he had seen.]
no subject
No worse than yours, I bet.
no subject
[After seeing the glimpse of Brendol Hux and himself dressed as a Republic officer, he hadn't hesitated to smash the mirror and make sure to crush it.]
no subject
[And not with Kylo or Anakin. That might actually be worse. Maketh waves her hand impatiently for the bottle.]
Give it here.
no subject
[He took one last drink before passing the bottle over to her.]
I'm not sure how but I'm sure it could be.
no subject
For an engineer, you have no imagination. Where is Kylo, hmm? Why aren't you drinking with him?
no subject
[He saw Kylo's clothes in the hamper in the morning so at least he knew he was still around at least.]
What about you? Why are you drinking alone?
no subject
Clearly I am not drinking alone. You're here.
[Therefore it does not count.]
Henry dislikes it, when I drink. So I am not doing it around him.
no subject
[He remarked with amusement as he reached for the bottle. This was a better alternative than working at home alone with the cats at least.]
How judgmental of him.
no subject
He is not an Imperial. I am--happy he is not.
[It's said wistfully. Maketh wishes she could be a lot of things.]
That must be very nice.
no subject
[He was rather proud of his Imperial background, nothing would change that, thankfully.]
Or do you hope that some day you can leave the Empire behind completely?
no subject
[She's a traitor and traitors must die.]
no subject
[He handed her the bottle after taking another drink. He wasn't sure if he would ever get used to the idea that one of the few who understood him was a traitor he would eventually take great pleasure in killing when it suited him.]
no subject
I cannot be one of them, either.
no subject
[He chuckled, leaning back. He may have done some awful, downright awful things but at least he was honest about who and what he was. Mostly.]
no subject
I will be useful and they will know my worth.
no subject
[It was a taunt and he grinned as he kicked her back as well just as hard before reaching out for the bottle to take it from her.]
I'm sure they'll try to reform you and try to get you to see the light, however it works.
no subject
Shut up. I will have a place. You will die or rot in some Republic prison as an example.
[She glares at him with real hatred suddenly. It isn't fair that her reflection wears a First Order uniform, when she's done so much trying to change everything in her to avoid it.]
I will not die in exile.
no subject
[But he would do everything he could do to prevent that. He wasn't going to end up like Tarkin, Piett, or the cowardly Imperials who either flocked to the New Republic or were caught up after the war.
He took the bottle, finishing off the last bit of whiskey despite the fact he was aware of how she was glaring at him.]
You're already in exile. At least, you looked like it when I found you.
no subject
Fuck your mother.
[She flicks sand at him, knowing how childish it seems.]
Where else am I supposed to go, hmm? What does the mighty General say?
no subject
This great general would say that we go wherever this is another bottle of whiskey.
[Normally he didn't drink so often but he doubted Anakin or Kylo were home.]
So lead the way, minister.
