Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!
As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.
Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?
Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!
Happy paintballing, and may the odds be ever in your favor!► This log covers September 22nd-29th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you fall and break your neck or something because you can't die in paintball, please let us know here.

True, there is that difference in their heights. Curufin is six foot two (in his boots), and though his basic frame is a slim one, years of handling heavy weapons and heavy tools and also of being a mountaineer have left him with powerful ams, shoulders, and legs.
"But we'll do just fine, between the two of us."
He runs back to the firehouse to get the ladder truck, which has an internal compartment right behind the cab, and a separate door for that. This compartment can be used for extra riders or for an ambulance.
He brings the truck up, parks it, comes back to where Luke is, and grabs one of the unconscious people by an arm and a leg, slings him up on those broad shoulders, and carries him into the ambulance compartment.
Together, they get all of the people in. "Shall I drive or shall you drive?" he asks.
no subject
"Yeah, we will." he agreed.
He helps get the people in and then turns back to Curufin. "I'm okay either way. I don't mind, but if you want to, go ahead."
no subject
"In that case, I call shotgun, and you can take the wheel," says Curufin with a grin. He climbs into the passenger seat in the cab. And then he digs in his pockets and hands over the ignition key in case Luke doesn't have his own keys with him.
And off to the Clinic!
{{OOC: If okay with you, I'm gonna assume that Luke has his own keys to all the vehicles, as well as to the pumping station and the firehouse. }}

"I just hope this isn't permanent. I mean...I know most of the time, people wake up or come back...but you never really know. I just hope they'll be all right."
no subject
"I hope they're all right, too. I was assuming this was just a game, and I got involved. I was having fun. But. . . damn the gods, they have such bizarre ways of thinking. They might just think it's funny to get people to kill each other, believing they are only playing a game."

It isn't far to the Clinic, and soon they are pulling up in front of it. Curufin hops out, runs around to the ambulance compartment door and pulls it open. "Once we get these people inside, I suppose we could keep driving around and see if we can find anybody else who needs a lift?" (Pun intended.)

They'ere at the clinic quickly, and Luke nods as he helps unload the patients.
"That's probably best." he replies. "I have a feeling there are more."
no subject
Not that Curufin hasn't been contributing to the problem himself. It's just that with Luke here, the firefighters' ethics are invoked, and so he does an about-face and starts behaving like the rescuer he is in his current life.
They haul the people into the clinic. And there, they hear the news -- the people who get paintballed remain unconscious but don't otherwise appear to be harmed. The healers are hopeful that this means they'll awaken when this event is over.
Luke and Curufin emerge from the Clinic building and head off to find more of them.

He listened along with Curufin and thought about the situation as they went back out to find more.

After a while, they had the city center cleared of bodies and they were working their way out towards the outlying neighborhoods.
They crossed the river and checked out the area of Tranquility's temple and the moped lot. Surprisingly, a lot of people had picked this region to paintball each other. There was a whole heap of people by the temple wall.
"Guess this group were all terrible at running away," chuckled Curufin, as he squatted down to make sure they were all simply unconscious and not in any other way injured.
"Here, help me with this guy! He's heavy." Curufin took the big guy's shoulders and waited for Luke to take his feet, so they could sling him into the fire engine compartment.
no subject
He got to work right away and when Curufin asked for help with the big guy, Luke didn't hesitate to do as asked, grabbing the feet and helping get the guy into the compartment.

Curufin laughed a small wry laugh. "I feel like we ought to be tucking business cards into their pockets, with phone numbers and net addresses. How about this? -- DOA? Not if we have anything to say about it! When you need an ambulance right away, call the Hadriel City Fire Brigade! We'll get you to the Clinic on time!"
no subject
He laughed. "Yeah, maybe. Advertising is always good."
Good place to wrap? -- we can catch each other in the latest Null plot
Curufin laughed with Luke. Humor always helps!
Yeah, that works.
