Event Log: Party Royale

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Party Royale event
Where: All over the city!
When: September 22nd-29th
Warnings: Paintball, loss of consciousness, and partying!

As is par for the course in Hadriel, at some point throughout the day- waking up, making breakfast, doing laundry- you find an item. This isn't just any item though, it's a tried and true paintball gun, shining and just waiting to be picked up. This gun never runs out of ammunition, never malfunctions, and almost always hits the target that you're aiming at, so say hello to your new best friend for the next week.

Touching or picking up the gun will fill you with a competitive surge, which will likely increase when you find the note that's left with it, saying nothing more than be the last one standing. With instructions like that, how could you lose?

Well, you could lose if someone else shoots you. But never fear, there's a plan for that too! Even if you embrace the throes of unconsciousness, the gods have got your back and will eventually teleport you into a grand party where prizes will be handed out based on how long you survived. Awesome! At this party is also the traditional copious amounts of food and drink, as well as everyone's favorite goddess Delight and everyone's slightly-less-favorite goddess Rage!

Happy paintballing, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

► This log covers September 22nd-29th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you fall and break your neck or something because you can't die in paintball, please let us know here.

More or less. Not that nothing is surprising and innovative. Plenty of new tech has been developed and advanced over the last hundred years.

[Having lived for nearly that long, Rey's got to see technological progress from an interesting perspective, and as different people.]

You seem like the type who fights with pens rather than swords.

I've heard of things called computers that can hold entire libraries of information on them but be small enough to hold on your lap.

[Marg wouldn't be able to imagine such a thing. she still has trouble with her phone]

With pens and words, yes. I was good. I was very good. But it wasn't enough to save me when Cersei Lannister decided to destroy the Sept of Baelor. I tried to warn them, but they were so secure in their safety and their gods that they wouldn't listen.
circumitus: Keep up the good work. (it's a 12/12/12 miracle)

[She nods.] That's right. There's a lot more than that, too. Come from a time and place where losing a limb can be easily replaced with bionics.

[Which are more effective than prosthetics, from what Rey has seen. She has known a few who have greatly benefited from such technology.]

Their gods. [Rey snorts.] Good to know that people relying on some higher powers to come swoop down and rescue them from the stupidity of other human beings isn't world-exclusive.

You mean, electronic parts in the place of flesh and bone? That's incredible! There were so many people wounded in the War of the Five Kings who could have used such things.

[they can't even make working prosthetics in Westeros. for the most part, if someone loses a limb there, they wind up having to beg for money]

No, it certainly isn't. All their faith did was ensure their own deaths along with mine and countless others. To be honest, I'm not even sure I believe in gods anymore.
circumitus: (your girlfriend is a south jersey whore.)

Pretty damn useful for victims of war, yes. It's gotten a little out of hand with grinders, though. People who are willing to sever pieces of their bodies for bionic replacements.

[Not that Rey can blame all of them. Some of those cybernetics augment certain human capabilities. Still, it's a weird part about culture to get used to. Hell, Rey's had several bodies to replace the ones that got destroyed, so who is she to judge?]

Well, all things considered, that... sounds fair. Never really knew what to believe. Long as it wasn't hurting anyone, that seemed like a good enough deal.

roseofthetyrells: (spinning again and again and again)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-13 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
They do? Are the replacements stronger or do they help them live longer?

[Margaery would be very interested in that as technically, this is her second body]

That's the important thing. Not hurting anybody. The Faith of the Seven forgot about that.
circumitus: Keep up the good work. (it's a 12/12/12 miracle)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-11-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Stronger. Maybe. [Shrug.] Pretty sure most of them do it because they think it looks cool.

[Because that's just the sort of dumbass thing most adolescents would do when cybernetics are introduced to the world.]

That seems to be a common problem with any faith. Once you get the self-righteous pricks who think they're right, they act like they get a pass to do whatever they want because their asshole gods will "forgive" them.
roseofthetyrells: (what's spinning and spinning)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-17 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard of strange things done for fashion, but that has to be the strangest.

[the young can be incredibly foolish and short-sighted]

It's even worse when they're simply fanatics. No goals other than to bring down anyone who doesn't fit within their narrow view of what the true faith is.
circumitus: I CAN QUIT ANY FUCKING TIME I WANT. (i'm not drunk YOU'RE drunk)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-11-18 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, voluntary body mutilation isn't much a new thing.

[She's seen people jab holes into their skulls and skin in all kinds of horrific looking manners. In some way, Rey can sort of see the appeal. At least cybernetics serve a very unique function.]

Mm. Have dealt with fanatics like those before. Not a fan, have to say.

[Guess where her throat scar came from. If she were a normal human, she'd be dead.]
roseofthetyrells: (fast slow living is holding me back)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-19 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't?

[the notion completely mystifies Margaery. though, she comes from a culture where even ear piercings aren't normal]

Oh? I'm sorry to hear that they're not unique to Westeros.

[she's noticed the scars, but feels that it's not polite to mention them unless Rey mentions them first]

circumitus: I awoke in a daze, not sure of my location... (captain's log: day 16)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-11-20 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
No. People have done even more gross things using jewelry and tattoos.

[Which she'll pass on, thank you. Piercings put you at a pretty nasty disadvantage in combat.]

Yes, well. Seems that it's a thing no matter what world you're in. How not surprising...
roseofthetyrells: (I'd like to tell you all about it)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-20 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm almost afraid to ask what sorts of things they've done!

[tattoos: also largely unheard of in Westeros. unless you're a Thenn, then you're pierced and tattooed, but Thenns are Wildlings. they don't count]

I wonder if the fault is in the faith or in the men and women who control the faith.
circumitus: You owe me waffles (sunrise bitch.)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-11-26 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
What, you mean people don't do fucked up shit to their bodies where you're from?

[Weird.]

Maybe a little bit of both. [She shrugs.]
roseofthetyrells: (glitter on the wet streets)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-26 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
No, I'm afraid not. There are ridiculous styles and fashions, of course, but nobody does anything permanent.

[Westeros is weird, it's true]

Likely so. Having blind faith in anything seems as though it would wreak havoc with the rest of their mind.
circumitus: (your girlfriend is a south jersey whore.)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-11-27 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's probably for the best.

[She isn't about to question the sanity of a people for having enough of it not to mutilate their own bodies.]

There were people like that, in my world. People who were affected by war and just... needed something to hold onto. Even if it was bugshit insane.
roseofthetyrells: (the same not give up not give in)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-11-27 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[the citizens of Westeros make up for that by being insane in other areas]

I understand. My home has been at war for over five years. Many of the Sparrows, fanatics for the Faith of the Seven, were former soldiers disillusioned by constant war.
circumitus: (hook me up with the drugs dog)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-12-01 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Rey is hardly surprised.]

Can't say that's all that uncommon. War tends to start or prolong thanks to fanaticism. Have known some to last thousands of years because of that shit.
roseofthetyrells: (well I will see him there)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-12-01 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thousands of years? How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?
circumitus: If you can't drink cheep beer and whiskey with me, I don't want you. (fuck it)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-12-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Um. [Squint.] Ninety-something. Haven't really been keeping track anymore.

But that's, er... a different story.
roseofthetyrells: (flow sweetly hang heavy)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-12-02 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? Well, I must admit my interest in it.
circumitus: (i'm a jewel song away from suicide watch)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-12-02 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[She scoffs.]

Guess it depends. Which part are you interested in?
roseofthetyrells: (last on the village scene)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2017-12-02 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Any part of it you feel comfortable sharing. Our worlds are so different, you see, that any part would be of interest.
