What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.
This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.
Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.
To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.
Delight
and yes, some of them may not need food but Rydia and the less powerful monsters certainly do. For a world almost lost in time what's better than a big celebration to remember everyone they're alive?Rydia can be seen dancing between a chocobo (An overgrown big yellow bird), some green goblins and her favorite uncle, a lovely giant, who keeps spinning her around and throwing the summoner in the air. She appears younger than usual and is just wearing a plain green dress and she's clearly having fun: no magic practice needed for now, no challenges to face, no books to study, just her whole family there to play with her.
Join the party! There's roasted mistery meat for everyone, most of the flying creatures are offering rides around the town if one isn't too heavy, drums are being played and most creatures seem absolutely inoffensive right now.

She watches the girl with green hair fly through the air after the giant has thrown her, and when Rydia lands, Brennan approaches her with a smile.
"Will you teach me how to dance?"
no subject
"Mh? Oh, hello there!"
Rydia furiously waves in Brennan's direction while Titan gently places her back on the floor, if the summoner usually has some sort of composure this younger dream version of herself seems more energic and wild to some extent.
"I'd love to! I'm not as good as Titan but I know a thing or two." She comments placing herself in front of the woman and moving at the rhythm of the drums... sometimes even slamming her feet on the wooden surface or dramatically waving her arms in the air. It's far from an elegant dance but it's definitely full of life...
no subject
"This is wonderful!"
It is so good to be alive and surrounded by beings who only want to celebrate the best in life.
no subject
"Oh, you are wonderful! What's more important than good company in a happy day?" The young summoner bounces on her feet "And if you want to do more- just ask! Titan could throw you like he did for me, maybe someone can fly you around the village or... I don't even know!" Rydia just wants to enjoy the celebration as long as it lasts.
no subject
"Rydia, what is this celebration for? Is it a seasonal festival?"
no subject
"We don't really have seasons down here... or weather if that matters." She still remembers those but it seems a distant memory right now "We're just celebrating food and those who went on the surface to hunt for us! So many humans up there, I'm just glad everyone returned safely home." Because if humans are afraid of monsters it's also true the opposite- at least they all seem comfortable and happy right now.
"So... is this what you all do during seasonal festivals? How nice! I wish I could see the dances of your people."
no subject
She is an anthropologist at heart, even if her specific field is forensic anthropology.
"My people--? Well... not in the same way as we did in the past. Celebrations now are quieter and familial. Community events are less common."
But she is not sad. This place, these festivities, they do not let her feel sad. Change is part of life, and if that means there are no more parties like this where Brennan lives, then she is happy with that.
no subject
That and the fact the Feymarch can be quite the boring and repetitive place otherwise with its time flowing erratically and the lack of seasons, months of anything, really, to differentiate a day from another.
"That must be nice as well, being with the one you loves. Would you like to share more with me? I'd like to learn more about your kind."
no subject
"Oh, of course. We typically gather around food and drink. The point is to share what we have, and to enjoy everyone's company. Some of it has its origins in religious practices involving honoring gods, but it is much more secular now."
It seems so quiet compared to all of this, but it means a lot to Brennan anyway.

And when she hears about the roasted meat, Aren definitely perks up. She heads on over, smiling when she spots Rydia. Younger, sure, but who can forget that hair? "Rydia? Wow, what is all this?"
no subject
"This? This is my family!" Her simple reply is filled with pride and joy "Or, if you're asking why we're throwing a party... well, we're celebrating a good hunt and the safe return of those who ventured on the surface to gather food for us all." She pauses picking a piece of roasted meat and taking a large bite from it, Rydia never questioned what kind of creatures she was being fed in the Feymarch and it was probably for the better "It's not like the eidolons would let us starve, mind you, but this all still is what brave creatures brought home for us- and it's only right to show them appreciation." Her lips curve in a large grin "especially in such a glorious way. I love this kind of things." It may be a somehow distorted memory of her homeworld, the Feymarch has rarely been so loud, but the summoner can't really tell the difference in her dreams "Are you enjoying yourself?"
no subject
"Of course! Introduce me, huh? Any relative of yours is a friend of mine." And she's damned curious about plenty of these creatures. Who better to ask than Rydia herself?
no subject
"Well... there's Titan there, he is a skilled dancer and I bet he'd love to throw a lovely lady like you around. There's Ifrit by the fires, he's the one in charge of cooking, the girls up there are sylphs-" she points them one by one, the only creature who seems to give them cold shouders is a lady apparently made of ice "- and those are my parents, right now they look humans themselves because father is a bit too large to fit in here. I just... I'm happy to be here and have a friend to introduce them."
no subject
"'Right now' they look like humans? What other forms do they take?" She feasts a little more, because it smells and taste so good.
no subject
"I'd love to dance with you, I'm just... not as good as others but it doesn't really matter, does it?" no, she can't throw the other in air, her noodle arms would probably break if she tried "Lead the dance, my lady, I will follow!" her feet tap a couple of times on the wooden floor and she spins around happily.
"Mh? Well... Father is a giant sea snake, he is quite long in his normal form and doesn't fit those small streets too well. Mother, on the other hand... she is just a three headed lady with many arms and legs, she's in that form only to stay with father. At least that's whay I think." The summoner hands her a cup of water, while the meat is tasty and rich eidolons lack a culture on tasty drinks "The throne room is the only large enough for father, someday I'm going to be allowed to fight him there. Oh! I know it, you may challenge them for fun!"
no subject
She pauses long enough to sip that water, raising an eyebrow. "You fight each other for fun--oh. This is like a dwarven Proving? Kinda. They have those in Orzammar, where warriors compete for honor and glory and all that shit. I have a story to tell about that, sometime." Maybe. If she feels like sharing that much of herself, but right now, it feels better to deflect. "So, how does that work? What does challenging mean here?"
no subject
Rydia's eyes sparkle at Aren's reply- another culture that embraces fights as entertainment? "You fight as well? You- you have to tell me everything about Orzammar because that may be something we have in common! I want to learn about this Proving of yours and hear your story whenever you'll have time!" it won't probably have the same form and meaning of battles that take place in the Feymarch but she doesn't mind. And Rydia has been trapped in the Feymarch for so long any information of the world outside is welcome. "Mh, well... it really depends." Summoners challenging eidolons is certainly the deadliest of all things but she doesn't feel to share about it "most of the times it's just two creatures fighting together to break the boredom while the others can enjoy the show, some other times they do hold small tournaments of strenght since this is a culture that really values proving your worth. in case some have real advantages over others, like a water monster against a fire one, more rules can be applied to make challenges more fair. We're also family so no one is allowed to kill another member of the community."
no subject
Dwarves are so good at separating themselves like that, so it seems even easier in a place where creatures are all so different from each other. And yet, as Aren looks around she doesn't see any notable divisions. Everyone's just having a good time with everyone else.
no subject
"So... uhm... what do you do when someone's glory increases? Do you celebrate it? I mean, no one dies in your provings as well, I can't see them being anything but fun- before and after!" Fortunately enough for Rydia the Feymarch is a friendly place compared to the dwarven city, the limited number of people living in it and the fact that most of them are immortal probably contribuited at making the whole community as united as it is "Please, do tell me more!"
no subject
"What about you, don't you want to brag about this place some more? I'm all ears."
