What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.
This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.
Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.
To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.

Michael, meanwhile, is just sort of ineffectually pushing at its weight. He hears Law, recognizes his voice, but he isn't at the best angle to see him.]
Don't, [he calls back over his shoulder.] It's fine.
[100% grade-A Fine right here.]
no subject
[this does not look fine. But, given no other options to actually help...gather information?]
A creature like that...it could take your head off in one bite.
no subject
It could, but it won't. [Says the guy currently being held down by it.]
I don't think it can actually kill me. [Because then it'd be without a host. It has to at least understand that, right? As if in answer, the Visitor sits on Michael's legs and swipes at him with one of its forelimbs. The claws narrowly miss his face, though it's not clear whether this is by design or by accident, instead striking the wood floor, sending up a small spray of splinters.]
no subject
Can't, or wouldn't? What is it?
no subject
... I don't know, actually. I think I have it under control, but maybe it's just being nice.
[This is perhaps a weird conversation- or rather, a weird situation in which to be having a conversation. But it's a dream, so that part gets mostly overlooked.]
no subject
Law doesn't really want to just take his word for it but what else can he do? He stands down a bit, inwardly thankful that the creature isn't going for him.]
It looks a lot like it has a hard time knowing what 'nice' means.
no subject
You could say that, yeah. [He sounds a little winded, perhaps.] It's pissed because I'm not giving it what it wants. Like a fucking child.
[He pries at its absurdly long fingers.]
no subject
You know it, then. This a common occurrence? Repeating nightmare, maybe?
no subject
The Visitor doesn't have that kind of bones, Law.]
Nightmare? [Michael sounds a little confused for a second.] Right. Yeah. Something like that. It's definitely a 'common occurrence'.
no subject
Friend of yours.
[dryly, all sarcasm, believing that no, this is probably some kind of something Michael deals with where he comes from. It has to be, this living room looks entirely unlike anything he's ever decorated.]
no subject
Yeah...
[And he's just gonna. Let that trail off. He's busy anyway, wiggling out from under his personal demon. The Visitor lets him struggle for a moment, then jumps up to continue its frantic pacing. Michael drags himself up, straightening his glasses.]
It's weird, though; you don't seem all that affected by it. Most people get one glimpse and go the hell the other way.
no subject
Maybe I've seen things far more disgusting than that. [with a nod toward Prowly McShadowface] Or maybe I don't know whether to make it out to be something worth worrying about. It hasn't attacked me and now it hasn't attacked you either.
[also, a healthy dose of dream logic]
no subject
Yeah, it doesn't see you as a threat, either. And you're not a murderer, so you're off the hook, I guess.
no subject
Is that so? Then. You know what it wants.
[absolutely not saying a damn word about his long litany of piracy-related deaths, nope.]
no subject
It wants justice or some bullshit like that. It wants to eat people, but only people it thinks deserve it. Which might mean something, except it's standards are kind of subjective.
[He's not bitter you're bitter.]
no subject
Friend of yours, then?
no subject
More like... I don't know. Recurring nightmare? I know its rules, but I don't know how. [Hey, that part's not even a lie.] Maybe I made it up?
[That part's also not a lie but Michael has no idea, making it very, very meta.]
no subject
Ah. In that case, it's all yours. I have enough of my own to deal with.
[this definitely fits the characteristics of a dream conversation. Does it make sense? Only in the moment. It's all good. And seeing that Michael isn't in danger necessarily, Law is content. It is odd, watching this shadow pace and garble and threaten a seemingly innocuous, er, person, but it's following its own rules and thus, Not His Problem.]
no subject
Thanks. And, uh, good luck with yours?
[He'll find out about that soon enough.]
no subject
Well. It might be for the best. His dreams have been weird this week, he'll take weird over what's going to happen next week.]
Yeah, luck is right.
[time to wake up!]
