Intro Log: Clever Girls

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for November
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: November 10th-15th
Warnings: Sick beats.

You wake up, confused and alone and maybe a little chilly if you forgot your coat. You're on the floor of a large arena, and above you, stretching up high, is the stone ceiling trapping you in this city. Welcome to Hadriel! You'll have a great time here.

Provided you manage to escape the pack of velociraptors that have arrived with you. They seem to have gotten used to this place a little faster than the rest of the new arrivals - or maybe they're just hungry. They're scary, smart, and very fast - plus they've got those cool three-inch claws designed specifically to tear their prey open. Add to that teeth, muscles, and plenty of clever pack tactics, and you might be in a little bit of trouble.

Maybe you can distract them with a little music, though? Scattered around the arena, you can find some stereos and boom boxes. They won't pick up any radio stations, just static, but don't worry! If you're jonesing for a good tune, you can find some CDs and good old fashioned cassette tapes lying around, too. Everything you need for a sweet dance party! Maybe the velociraptors will be into it. Or maybe you'll just get eaten.

If you manage to avoid being chewed on by sharp teeth, and get out of the colosseums, there's plenty to do. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ The girl must be from a world where water is like gold, where work keeps the mind from wandering, and life is just one big laugh because it's falling apart. Sharon looks down at her once white vest, shoulder ripped, bloodied and ashen. ]

I don't want to take a shower until I go somewhere and where I'm going, I'd just end up just as dirty. [ She shrugs. Silent Hill is the same no matter where she goes, its existence different depending on the pain of the one who made it. ] You could think of it as me saving up a resource, even though it's not something you really need to worry about here. They make sure we almost always have the necessary resources to survive, if not more than what we need.

[Water was priceless in Girl's home and that's why she can only nod at the woman's reply. No one bothered to clean up when desert life would only get them dirty again quick.]

I feel 'bout the same way. Why clean up when you're just gonna get gross again? [Girl considers what the woman is saying. Logically, she knows she can't hold out from using the resources forever.] I heard that those wannabe gods were supplyin' all sorts of stuff. But I don't wanna owe any of 'em until I gotta. Especially, over something I don't need.

They get the power to make what we need off of us. We're their garden, their primary resource, the energy they need to keep away from the Null. If anything, they owe us more than the dregs of bullshit they give us.

People like that only find more ways to make you owe 'em. They kidnapped us. I don't really wanna take whatever they got to offer. Not yet. [She sighs, crossing her arms over her chest.] I get why other people would. But I can live on havin' nothing.

You should take what they offer, take whatever you can from them. Let them think you're eating out of their palm.

If they want to use us then I think it's only right we use them back.

So you choose to play 'em right back. Can't say I don't respect that. Gotta be the easier way to think 'bout it.

Is that all you use 'em for? Food, water, place to sleep.

That, and information. Get close to one of them and soon they'll trust you. They'll spill secrets and I file them away to be used for a rainy day.

Let them trust you but don't trust them.

[If Girl weren't already impressed, she would be now.]

You just got the whole system figured out, don't you? That's pretty well smart of you, playin' the long game like that. You must be a big thorn in their side, or at least big deal 'round these parts.

Kinda wonder why you'd bother tellin' some greenie 'bout it, though.

Because it's going to take us all working together, sneaking and lying and twisting their trust until we can get what we want. New or otherwise, we're in this together.

[She nods slowly, staring out into the distance.] Guess nothing brings people together like a common enemy. Havin' someone to lead helps too. Is that what you are to the people here? A leader? It's just- you talk like one. Like ones I've known.

[unitas]

[ A leader? Sharon laughs. Not cruelly, just out of surprise. ]

People wouldn't follow me here. I've been here long enough to just know what we have to do. I also may or may not have killed a few people during my time, so... [ A shrug. Like she cares much anymore. ]

Why wouldn't they? [The laugh surprises her. She crosses her arms, shaking her head.] You seem smart enough, talk pretty enough. Usually that's all it takes for people to start followin'.

Bad people? Lot's of folk have killed those.
