It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.
Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.
After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.
What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.► This log covers November 25th-December 12th.

The running Elf points his staff at the Null and delays them with those red rays of whatever energy that is, but it does not put them down.
Curufin pulls his rifle from behind his shoulder, aims, and fires at the dead-center of the Null's bodies. One, two, three shots. He's seen with this particular type that the processor is in their middles, and he's dug a few out, so he knows the exact spot.

He turns behind him, and out of the air right behind them, a portal opens to a cold void. Suddenly, milky white tentacles shoot forth, grabbing at the disabled Null, ripping them to pieces before they have time to further react.
Taako, breathing a bit heavy still, turns towards Curufin, eyebrows raised a bit. "Nice shot there. I mean, I could'a gotten it, but it's cool, it's cool."
no subject
Curufin watches with delighted amazement as Taako performs his sorcery with the Otherworldly door and the avid tentacles.
Since there are now no Null to kill, at least not for a bit, Curufin rests his rifle on his shoulder and responds to this strange Elf. "Thanks. And your door-trick is quite impressive."
"I'm Curufin. Are you by an chance related to Lup?"
no subject
"Uh, yeah, it's great, thanks." He's not very humble, either. Taako considers giving Curufin some form of grief for assuming his relation, but there's really no time- and it's not as fun when the other person is also an elf. "But uh, sounds like it's your lucky day, 'cuz now you get to meet the better twin. Taako. 'Mm her brother and more impressive sibling."
Sorry I'm so late on this! -- okay to wrap, if you want. Curufin can catch up with Taako later!
Curufin smiles. "Pleased to meet you, Taako! She told me she had a twin, and I was looking forward to making your acquaintance."
He isn't going to argue the "more impressive sibling" thing. It seems these two have some kind of a sibling rivalry, and the talk shows it. But that just makes it more fun. Curufin is quite familiar with the affection and rancor of such relationships, having six brothers himself.
im good to backtag or wrap! sorry I'm so late too haha
Taako looks down the street, one long ear wiggling once as if he's trying to get a read on something coming. "You just uh, out here doing the big hero thing, or what? Actually, you seen her lately?"
No problem! Let's tag a little bit!
"Yes, I've seen her, just a few days ago. We had a contest to see who could kill the most Null."
cool!!
no subject
"All over the streets as well as all over the network! Keeps us all busy either arguing with the fuckers or smashing their guts in person. Yes, that does make it hard to keep track of one's friends and relatives, doesn't it?"
"Oh, by the way. . . your sister won the contest." He grins.
no subject
Frankly, neither of them care much about their heritage- they didn’t grow up in any kind of community of their own kind. But any foot up he can get, he’ll take, whether it’s necessary or not. “She can also, like, immolate an entire block in like three seconds, so. She’s really only second to me.”
no subject
"She can, huh? How many blocks can you immolate?" He glances sideways, and then winks at Taako. ". . . Because you're about to have an opportunity to demonstrate."
Another wave of Null is swarming out from between the buildings, coming straight for the two Elves.
no subject
"I don't really do all that? Not my specialty. Besides, what I've got is just so, so much better." His eyes scan over the ground, and he knows exactly what he wants to do. There are Null bodies everywhere, many just with their processors damaged, and in moments, three of them begin to creak to life, raising themselves from the ground even with their shattered processors. Taako's face still looks more smug than ever, and as he swings the Umbra Staff forward, they charge the oncoming Null, weapons drawn.
"Go get 'em, boys." He chuckles, as if he just does this every day. "This is gonna look great."
no subject
The Umbra Staff is apparently the conductor's wand for an orchestra of destruction.
Well, Curufin will play in that concerto! His rifle cracks and some of the Null fall before their former comrades can reach them.
And others fall as the re-animated Null point their weapons and fire. The undamaged Null fire back, and the electrical or plasma fire goes zinging in both directions.
no subject
He sidesteps a bit of debris easily, spinning around on his heel to orchestrate another animated Null to slam through the processor of it's live counterpart. "Honestly, this stuff is almost too easy. Sucks for the Null they thought we were some weak shit, but great for us."
no subject
Curufin grins. "Feel free to demonstrate whatever you've got! I hope they feel really, really stupid! -- they certainly did underestimate us. And now we're piling them up for scrap." Wicked chuckle. "I'm looking forward to hauling them away and melting them down."
no subject
Since that spell doesn't require sustaining, he can let the Null rip each other apart, sending out a few Magic Missile bullets to any other one that begins to come close. "You thinkin' of making anything fun? Like, not swords and shit, fun stuff."
no subject
He snickers again to see the Null tearing their own comrades apart.
"I'd do it if I had that kind of magic. My power is mostly translated through my blade." He draws the said blade and lifts it high. It suddenly crackles with blue-white light, like lightening or St. Elmo's Fire. "This fire of the spirit enhances the force of my blows, but I can't generally use it at a distance."
And he admires the Magic Missile bullets as they smack into the few, stupid Null who approach.
no subject
He does let out a low whistle as his blade lights up, pausing in holding his staff for a bit to give a little golf clap. "Nice light show, my dude. Requires getting all up in their business, though. You ever thought about uh, pulling a little fantasy Thor bullshit and calling down lighting on top of you or something? Bet you could shoot it if you wanted to figure it out ranged."
