By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

he almost laughs at the gesture. it's a little hard not to, but akira just moves to adjust the arms of his specs instead. )

[Lup's mouth forms a small circle, eyes widening at his correction. To be perfectly honest, Barry's name was better the way she'd said it, but name's are pretty important to her at this age. Outside of her twin, none of her other family members can ever get hers right. So even if it's way less cool, she'll say it the way Barry likes it.]

Finbar. Fiiinbar, [she repeats with exaggerated mouth movements, brows drawn together in careful concentration.] Is that right?

[She doesn't want to be wrong!

Barry gets all flustered around her again, but Lup doesn't pull away quite yet. He's soft and so warm, his cheek feels nice under her palm.] Whoa, a statue? Have you ever seen one? I've seen pictures in books before, but never anywhere else. Auntie said statues are like, super giant. Bigger than even adults! And they're made of Alablaster? How do they do that? Is it magic?

[For being so young, Barry clearly knows all of the things. She's never going to stop asking questions now.]

... No, it is not.

[The Crown City? It could be a coincidence, but there's something very peculiarly familiar about this boy - something in the eyes. Ignis bends slightly, bracing his hands against his thighs, putting himself at a closer eye-level to the child.]

My name is Ignis. What can I call you?

How lovely! It sounds like a very nice place to live. I do enjoy gardens. I wonder how far it is from Arnes? Since it's not near here either, is it?

[He's still not totally clear on where he is, but... it's probably fine.]

[puzzlingly]

「Glasses, he says, but he's never seen glass so transparent, it usually was blue, and made in the shape of vases.
They held perfume and wine and...

He just nods.」

What are they for?

[She does her best not to show the crushing feeling around her chest, to keep her expression steadily neutral, but at this age Julie hasn't yet lived through the death and hardships that would allow her that kind of stoicism.

So, instead, her lower lip shakes and she clenches her fists by her sides as one tear escapes to run down her cheek.]

Uh... no. I wasn't gonna say anything like that. What the hell kind of place do you come from, anyway?

Ouch. But you still climbed up this one - that's pretty brave.

[Or, well, maybe a little foolish. But Adam knows how painful broken bones can be, he thinks it's impressive to not be afraid of that happening again.]

[He tries for a goofy smile but it just ends up awkward and crooked]

s-so I guessed something crazy.

Mmmm, no. They kinda balance each other out. And Grim Reapers are around in my world, but I'm the only one here.

[no, no, no, Laura is like the opposite of good ideas. she's gotten herself into so much trouble in the past and done so many bad things. or at least morally objectionable things.

she pats him on the head, ruffling his hair a little]

It's the most beautiful in all of Westeros. None of the other Seven Kingdoms can compare. And I think it's far away from here. To be honest, I've no idea how to get back.

First off, I'm not gonna add a buncha stuff to his backlog. Paperwork's crazy up there! Second, how do you know it's not just the rest of me that smells weird?

[Aren draws in a breath, still worried about trusting anyone though trying not to seems such. But if anything comes up shady, she trusts in her ability to run.]

[She pauses, and it's not a stretch to assume she's considering just giving out a random one. But no one here seems to know where she's from, so what's the point?]

Aren. Aren Brosca. I'm not from here, but that's okay. I don't want to go back.

[ He nods ]

Cano absolutely promises!

[she beams]

You're very gallant. Did you know that?

[ He blinks ]

Whass gallant mean?

Don't you think that's what happened? How else did we get here?

[She waves an arm at their surroundings, holding on to the tree with her other hand.]

This doesn't look anything like my neighborhood, but there's not aliens or anything so I didn't go through a wormhole. So it's got to be time travel...but I don't know if I went backwards or forwards.

Maybe we can find a calendar?

[That seems unlikely, though. She hasn't seen a store or anything. Elena's expression softens at the mention of a missing brother, though.]

Was he nearby when you came here? Maybe he's here too and you just don't know where. We could look around.

[storyseeker]

[She shakes his hand—hard, so he won't think she's anything less than completely tough—and then keeps her hand held out so he can put money in it.]

There won't be anything to say something about, right?

[He doubts that her "tons" are really tons, but whatever. She's stepped up to the plate, time to swing.]

I don't know. Just cast something I can see. Something cool.

[Just because she said they were a thing in her world didn't mean she was one. He's not sure if he should be scared or not.]
