By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

I.

[While he isn't a child - per se - he is young enough that all of the burdens he carries in the future simply do not matter. Anakin Skywalker is cocky, self-assured and absolutely a Jedi Padawan. Dark Side? What Dark Side?

He is currently leaping from building to building - because why not - trying to get a better view of...

This planet? Which planet is this anyway? In some ways, it reminds him of Tatooine. The sun, the heat -

It's all very familiar. But something is off. He pauses on the edge of a particularly tall building, cocking his head before he...

Steps off. He'll be fine. Don't you worry.]

II.

[Eventually even fearless heroes need to eat. He is chewing thoughtfully on a sandwich, considering how bad Obi-Wan is going to lecture him when he spots someone new. Be mindful! Well. He thought he had been.]

Excuse me? [He tries to get the stranger's attention, scarfing down the rest of his meal on the run.] Can you tell me where I am? Do you know where the ships are kept?

[Please let there be some ships.]

It took a while for Lilith to get bored with the river and the trees in the parks, but she's never been someone who can stay in one place very long, and soon she's exploring the strange buildings, her new hyena friend hulking protectively at her side.

She shrieks, when she sees the boy step off the building, and when he lands, featherlight and unhurt, she shrieks again in sheer delight.

"How did you do that? Can everyone do that here? Show me!"

She is so cute I can't.

[prophesiedone]

The shriek makes him jump - for a second time - his lightsaber flying into his hand. He spins and quickly picks out the shrieker, his tension relaxing. A little bit. She could be a shape-shifter, after all, and what is that creature beside her?

"I'm a Jedi."

Duh. That's how.

"No. I can do that because I've been training for years."

"What's a Jedi? How many years? Can anyone learn?"

The questions crowd into her mind faster than Lilith can easily speak them, and long before she's finished, she's drawing closer to examine the odd object in his hand. It looks to her like a flashlight, but it's so bright here, why would anyone... His clothes are odd, too, but he's tall and dashing and she likes his bright eyes. Her hyena, who knows Anakin for a friend, doesn't try and get between them.

She reaches curiously for the lightsaber.

"What's that? Some kind of antigrav?"

[prophesiedone]

"You've never heard of a Jedi?" he looks amazed and confused. How far from the galaxy is he? How did he get here in one piece? Or at all?

Scratching the back of his head, he glances quizzically from her to the hyena and then back again. He isn't much of a guard-dog - not that he needs to be. Anakin would never hurt a little girl.

"Whoa, hold on!" he moves the lightsaber away from her, "Ah...no. It's a weapon. A sword. All Jedi have one."

And because he likes showing off - shocking - he ignites the blade. It glows a pure blue as he swings it around lazily.

"Well, if I had I wouldn't be asking! How long does it take? Could you teach me?"

She gasps out loud when the blade lights up.

"It's so beautiful! What do you fight with it?"

[prophesiedone]

"How old are you?" because apparently that matters, though he doesn't know why it's such a big deal, "I started training when I was nine."

He eyes the lightsaber casually. "Oh anything. It can cut through droids, ships, aliens..."

"Um, old enough to know better. That's old enough."

She has no idea, but she lifts her chin and speaks with a final and spurious confidence.

"Only bad aliens, right? Are there any here?"

The ships are at the Swanhavens, silly!

[ The little one says ]

Cano doesn't know how to get there from here tho.

[prophesiedone]

How did I not know that? [He smirks at the voice. Oh no, another cute one.] I'm not sure how to get where I need to be either.

So your name's Cano? I'm Anakin.

[childofthemusic]

Yep! [ He smiles up (and up and up) at him ]

Cano's full name is too long. [ He adds sagely ]

Well met, Anakin. Why's you looking for ships?

[prophesiedone]

[That neck is going to be strained! He kneels down and smiles reassuringly.]

I like Cano. Sometimes my friends call me Ani. [Or Annie. Hush.]

I would like to leave this planet. I don't belong here.

Can Cano call you Ani too?

[ He mous at that ]

But... Cano's only just mets you, and you's going?

[prophesiedone]

I would like that. [He bites down a chuckle.] You're right. I will stick around for awhile.

[Margaery is eyeing his sandwich, wondering where he got it from. she'd like a sandwich. she'd like a lot of things right about now]

I don't know where we are. It's clearly not Westeros, though. Westeros only has one sun. I'm afraid I don't know where they keep the ships here. Perhaps we could go to the river and find one?

[prophesiedone]

[She will find herself being offered half of it. Yeah, he can't resist a hungry child and it's more or less part of the Jedi code to help others.]

I've never heard of Westeros and...

That's not the kind of ship I was talking about. [He grins.] I was more looking for a spaceship.

[she takes her half gratefully with a curtsey and a "Thank you, ser," then starts to eat]

Westeros is where I live when I'm not here. May I ask where here is?

What's a spaceship?

[He flushes and grins shyly. Sorry, cute girls are his soft spot.]

I'm not sure. I've seen the name Hadriel, but that doesn't tell me much. I've visited a lot of planets and I think I would remember that name.

[Anakin blinks.] A ship that flies in space? [He points up at the sky.]

[well, she's been trained to be charming and cute since she was born.

she shakes her head] I've never heard of it, either. So we're on an entirely different world? And you've been to a lot of worlds? That must be so exciting!

[confused look] You have ships that fly through the sky? How?

[prophesiedone]

[He's an easy target for it. If assassins came in cute little girl form, he would be toast!]

Definitely. [He flashes a smile.] I plan on visiting every world. I guess I can cross this one off my list.

[Anakin chuckles.] Through complicated engines and flight mechanisms, mostly.

[Fingon's not worried- not yet at any rate, though with Anakin one never knows whether it'll be needed.

He cocks his head to the side, probably not nearly impressed enough.]

Try not to land on one of the children when you do that.

[prophesiedone]

[He lands lightly and cocks his head at the foreign voice.]

Why would I do that? I can control it, you know.

Accidents do happen, you know, even to the skilled. And some of these children seem to be having a hard time of things already, they don't need another shock.

[So "childhood" in Anakin's case apparently means a scarce few years and a change of hairstyles ago, good to know.]

Simply use your judgement when you're near the little ones.

Are you lecturing me? [He wrinkles his brow, put off by the welcome.] I'm a Jedi Padawan. I would never hurt a child.

[Famous last words. And, yeah, childhood means innocence, doesn't it? He has both arms, both hands and he is looking forward to the future.]

[He laughs, amused] Were I lecturing you, Anakin Skywalker, you'd be sure of it. And I merely ask you keep that in mind.
