By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.

two!
She can't figure out how to fix it, though. Hadriel doesn't have time labyrinths for her to go and fix anything. Instead, the best she can do is try to take care of them, to assume this is one of those events of the gods that she's heard about and let it pass. It's not the ideal solution when you're used to ferreting out paradoxes and correcting time, but what else can she do for now?
Which is why Serah's out when it's getting this chilly, wandering the city just in case any children appear and need help. Or corralling. (Probably the latter, honestly.) It's the young, non-human child who tentatively moves towards her that catches her attention this evening, wandering through the streets looking more scared than anything. While years of living on Pulse and all her time travelling with Noel has involved strange creatures often attacking, this one... he's so young, and his expression reminds her more of Snow (the Cat) when she finds herself brought near a bath.
"Hi," she starts, voice quiet. "Are you lost?"
ye!
But where would he run to? He has no idea where he is, and he hasn't seen even a single one of his people here. He has to try and be brave, and so he peers up (way up) at the woman. Another pink-skin, like the man he met earlier, and she doesn't seem to be angry or sly. Perhaps he can trust her.
So he gives a very tentative nod, not quite able to muster up more just yet. Everything about this situation feels very uncertain and he's still not sure if he should be ready to bolt at a moment's notice, but he wants badly for this to be fixed and for everything to go back to normal, so he's willing to stick around should someone seem interested in helping him.
this is so pure
Now, how does she explain this city to this child?
"This isn't your home, is it?" Of course it isn't, but maybe it's easier to hear the news when it's phrased like a question. "It isn't mine. I woke up here, too."
Maybe that's enough to see if he does know how to talk?
;n; they're learning.
"Where... is here?" He finally manages, trying his damnedest to keep the squeak of his voice. He doesn't know if she knows-- or if he wants to know the answer. But ignoring her doesn't seem right, either.
wehhhh
"It's called Hadriel." She pauses for a moment to let that sink in. Before she arrived here, she didn't know this place even existed, and it seems like a lot of the children - or younger forms of the people here - don't have their memories of ending up here.
Best to take it slow.

"Where is the ice? The snow? The land looks... sick," the little alien frets, having never seen a world that wasn't blanketed in white. All this bare earth is awfully alarming, just like the rest of his situation.
no subject
That makes sense, she supposes. But that can wait.
"This is a desert. It's too hot for snow most of the time." Although, right now, in the dark, it's freezing cold. Which probably suits him just fine. It's just a shame Serah hasn't seen anyone who looks similar to this child before today. She could have found him some familiar faces.
"I guess this is the first time you've seen anything like this, huh?"

Glacius starts looking around, rapidly scanning his surroundings... but given that this is his first time outside he and Carlisle's shared apartment, nothing looks familiar. He stamps in place a little with nervous energy, as if suddenly worried about getting back to safety before the heat of this strange land flares again.

"Whoa- It's okay." This... should work on her surroundings too, right? She's never really tried to use her magic on anything but enemies before. But Serah concentrates on a spot of ground close to the child, but still far enough away that she won't hit him, and builds up her magic, letting a small blizzard coat the area. "... It worked."
Thank goodness.
"Does it help?"
no subject
"Yes!" the little alien remembers to respond after a moment of sitting down and sticking his hands in the snow excitedly. "I didn't know any outsiders could manipulate ice and snow like my people can. Amazing! Thank you!"
no subject
"I just started to learn a while ago," she replies, crouching down just outside of the frosty ground, "but my friend, Noel, he can make an even bigger blizzard." He was much better than her at ice magic.
Serah hums and tilts her head curiously. "What are your people like?"
