By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!

OH YOU GUYSS <3
Trying not to frown, the alien lets out a small chirp.] Ah, I doubt that, young one. I've probably seen far worse on my own body. But if it is that bad that is all the more reason we should get it taken care of, no?
[Nevertheless, Glacius does not make a move just yet. He's not about to violate the boundaries of a child; if Taako doesn't want him to come closer, then he won't. About all he does is lower himself closer to the ground in a crouch, trying to seem more approachable in any way that he can think of.]
WE LOV U
I mean... I guess... I just don't wanna get in trouble. My mom would be really mad if, if she knew I got hurt...
[He concentrates as hard as he can on his knee, and then gently moves a hand away. Underneath, he's made an illusion of a bad cut, blood still seemingly wet around it. However, there's none on his hand- the illusion doesn't expand that far- and if Glacius were to touch it, he'd figure out it was very much fake.]
SHITTY TWINS AND THEIR WEIRD ALIEN UNCLE
They are straight up fucked.
Her brother is casting spells, but there's just no reason for them to stick around any longer than this and get caught. So, it may not exactly be the best solution to any of this, but it's the only thing Lup comes up with on the fly before the giant monster man becomes too suspicious and just straight up eats her brother.
She draws back a tiny fist and punches Glacius in the butt. As far as attacks go, it probably wouldn't feel like more than an accidental bump, but look, she's trying.]
THE MOST MAGICAL OF BONDING EXPERIENCES! (??)
[The harsh note of surprise that is startled out of him by Lup's sneak attack is less dignified than he'd like, but then, people don't usually go after his shiny posterior. His head swivels around on that serpentine neck to look at her from around the spikes jutting out from his shoulders.] A-another one of you? Did you just try to strike me? Now there's no call for that, little one, I don't mean either of you any harm!
[But he doesn't know how to quite reassure them of that given his appearance-- and now he's surrounded by two small, frightened elf children. Suddenly he feels a lot less sure of how to handle this scenario--or how to handle them-- so he'll just... keep trying to make nice, if he can. He backs up a step, spreading his arms a bit to give Lup room to move, allowing her to pass before him to get to Taako. He can only guess they're in it together, if her timely intervention is any indication, and their similar appearance suggests a familial relation. Keeping them apart would likely only add to their distress.]
ALWAYS
What are you? You're really big! And made of... stuff!
[So put together.]

Your butt felt weird. And kinda hard. [...] I think it hurt my hand.
no subject
[This, he directs as Lup, and he takes a chance on extending one hand again.] Here, let me see... [And then as he actually regards he, he realizes that he... actually thinks he recognizes her features. They're a lot younger now than he remembers, but this child looks remarkably like the fire-wielding woman who he practically backed up into during the Null assault. The alien blinks again, not quite sure what to do with this knowledge.
no subject
How'd you get here then? Did you come on a spaceship? Do you have a spaceship??
[Priorities. But if Glacius reaches forward, he skitters back a bit, grabbing Lup to try and pull her with him. He won't admit he's scared but like... he's a little scared.]
no subject
[Taako skitters back, trying to pull Lup with him, but she's already stepping forward, emboldened by her rising curiosity as to just what this weird alien creature is. Glacius offers them a gentle hand and there's no hesitation on Lup's part to reach forward and touch it. Her much tinier fingers fall against his palm and she's immediately retracting her hand against the feel of him, momentarily startled, before she's reaching for his palm again.]
Whoa... Taako, he feels like ice! He's not lying! He really is a creepy ice alien!
no subject
As such, the light chuckle—and the tone he takes afterwards, when he responds to them—is also tinged with the slightest bit of heartache. Nevertheless, he does his best to continue playing along: encouraging Lup to touch him again to see there's nothing to be afraid of, answering their questions to try and bridge that gap for all of them, even as his features knit together.] Ah ha, easy, young ones. One thing at a time. Yes, I do have a ship, but I didn't come here on it; I was brought to this place the same as you, the same as everyone else here. But unlike everyone else, I... am the only one of my kind in this place. So I cannot show you my ship, nor can I introduce you to others of my species... but I can assure you that we are peaceful, and that I will not hurt you. I only wish to help.
no subject
Figures you wouldn't have your spaceship. When your people come back for you or whatever, can you take us with?
[He stops to consider something for a minute.]
Actually, no, I bet your planet is cold. I don't like bein' cold.
[He continues to bang on Glacius' hand a bit.]
Are you an elemental?
no subject
[Infallible child logic.]
Wait, will my fire magic hurt you? Do elementals melt??
no subject
My outer shell can be melted if exposed to extreme heat, as it is made of ice as I explained; however, underneath that lies flesh and bone, similar to you. It is susceptible to burns, so I would appreciate it if you could use caution with any fire-related abilities.
And as for your questions... [Glacius swivels his head back to Taako, turning his palm upward to hopefully encourage a gentler sort of touch.] ... I wish they would come for me and take me away from all of this, but at the moment I am not sure it is possible. If I could I would free you all, though, and take you back to your own worlds. Until I find a way to do that, I must keep as many safe as I can... I promise that includes the two of you, if you'll let me.
no subject
Yeah, hear that Lup? No fire. We'd just freeze and be super dead.
[He doesn't look afraid anymore, but Taako's also not incredibly keen on letting this person be in their group. They're good at protecting themselves, and he still seems to be an adult- which means he can't be trusted automatically. Even if he is a cool ice alien adult.]
Safe from what?
no subject
Are there evil aliens here too? [Seems the most logical reason why a 'good' alien would need to be there to keep them safe, right?] Why do you wanna protect us, anyway? You don't even know us. Sounds pretty fake t'me. Taako an' I can take care of ourselves.
no subject
[Glacius lets Taako keep rubbing at his hand for as long as he'd like, watching the young elf's own hand with an expression that is hard to place but clearly affected. Normally he wouldn't let someone touch him like this, especially not when the intent was to investigate or examine, but with one so young it's... decidedly different. He doesn't have to worry about harmful intent, or at least he doesn't feel that he does, and it's... touching in a way to see Taako gradually overcoming his trepidation, even if the elf doesn't outright trust him yet.
Which is fine with Glacius; he understands that sort of thing is hard-earned. He remains perfectly still for Taako as he now flicks his glowing green gaze over to Lup.] If by "aliens" you mean beings like me, then no, there is nothing like that. Even most of the nonhumans that are held in this cave could still look the part. There are strange creatures about, though, and other forces at play. [The alien pauses, not sure if he should be as forthright and honest as he likes to be, or if he should attempt to shelter these young ones. He decides to toe that line as best he can.] This place is often dangerous, I will not lie. But if you are very careful, and have people looking out for you... then you will be as well off as anyone can be. Trust me when I say that no one makes it far in this city on their own.
As for why I myself want to look out for you... it is because it is what I am called in life to do, as I have seen much suffering in my many, many years, and have grown to want to prevent it and foster peace where I can. [He leaves off the bit about having a particular sympathy for them because they are young and seem undeserving of any of this. These children seem wary and shrewd, so it's probably best not to make them feel as though he is trying to coddle them; he instead aims for understanding.] Plus, I have been in your situation some time ago; waking up here, not knowing where I was or what to do. It seems only right to offer the same sort of help that I received back then.
no subject
He looks towards Lup, wondering if she's thinking the same.]
Lup's right. We're good at takin' care of ourselves. We haven't needed an adult this long.
