Warnings: Youths
By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!

2;
Lup makes a face when the familiar kid approaches her, looking nervous and like a total nerd. She remembers him from when the twins ransacked his room and made an attempt to swipe his shoes. Her eyes flick back down to his feet teasingly, before she's meeting his gaze and grinning.]
What kinda food d'you have? What's th' catch?
Re: 2;
... I've got, um... We've got stuff for sandwiches back at the house, and some fruit, and the catch is that you aren't allowed to go for my shoes again.
no subject
The promise of food is pretty much a driving force in her life as of late, not only having to feed herself, but her brother as well. Her going hungry doesn't bother Lup half as much as the thought of Taako going without food. So Angus gets some major points for that angle.
...But also, she just really wants to take his shoes, more to torment him than to actually get any use out of them. Angus was fun to bully.
Still, Lup finally shoots the other kid a roll of her eyes before giving in with a nod.]
Fiiiine. I promise. Just gimme enough food for two, okay?
no subject
Yeah, okay. We can pack lunchboxes or something. Do you know where your brother is? You two can always crash back at the house.
[ Do the twins know that their room at the house is... well, theirs? Have they been running around outside this whole time? ]
no subject
It takes a few seconds of intense concentration, but finally the leer she's aiming Angus' way seems to disappear.]
I dunno where that dingus ran off to. I woke up an' he wasn't 'round.
no subject
[ They'll probably just have to listen for the sound of other people screaming "HEY KID, LEAVE MY SHOES ALONE". ]
Wanna make some food, and then go lookin' for him?
no subject
But the offer to go looking for her brother at least manages to drag a slightly softer smile from the girl, who actually looks Angus in the face instead of making eyes at his shoes instead.] Alright. Guess it could be fun t' look together. Like, we could make it int'a game!
no subject
Did I mention that I'm the World's Greatest Detective? I'm really good at finding people.
no subject
At Angus' humble brag, the elf turns a suspicious eye on him. But she can't quite completely hide the excitement that's right there beneath the surface too.] Really? Says who? Have you found any missing brothers before?
no subject
Says the Neverwinter, Goldcliff, and Rockport police departments!
[ He is not shy about his career! ]
And... and I've found lots of missing people. Statistically speaking, some of them must've had siblings.
no subject
The twins don't exactly have the best relationship with any police department, probably because of the whole stealing thing, but Angus doesn't look like he has much authority over her anyway. And hadn't her and Taako nearly gotten away with his shoes without consequence? Yeah, he must be harmless.]
Alright, I guess that's cool. Where do we start? [Lead the way, Ango. You've got her full attention now.]
no subject
I guess that depends on how hungry you are. Sandwiches first, or sibling-hunting?
no subject
Sandwich first. [Not so much because she's hungry, even though she is, but because she wants to make sure she has food to share with her brother once they track him down.
Also, he's a goblin like her, so he'll probably smell it and come running.] Can we make like, ten of 'em? Or like a super sandwich that's like five stacked together?
no subject
[ He turns and starts to walk back towards the house, beckoning at Lup to follow him. ]
... Um. Sorry about stomping on your foot, before.
no subject
It's whatevs. It was kinda a cool move. Like, I didn't think you'd do it. You seemed way too wimpy.
no subject
[ His mouth snaps shut. Crap, some habits are hard to break! ]
no subject
Ugh, you're such a suck up. [But she's still smiling, so at least there's that.] You know the adult us's don't you? The grown up Taako an' Lup? Taako said we all live together in that house, but that sounded kinda fake.
no subject
I am not! It's polite!
Grown-up-Taako is right, though. You know how you were going through my room earlier? Your room's right next door.
no subject
Really? [They were nosy kids, they'd peeked through all of the rooms, and the one next door to Angus had been the most interesting of all. There'd been so many beautiful clothes, so many shiny knick-knacks, it had been so perfect to them. And it was all theres? That just seems way too good to be true.] Wow...
[She goes silent for a minute, just in delighted awe of that information. When they get back to the house, she's so running straight there to get a better look.]
What're we like? Really bomb wizards, right? D'you know why we live with a buncha folks? Why don't we have a place on our own?
no subject
[ That's probably selling them short, honestly. They're more like the best wizards in the known universe, but at this point, Angus doesn't know that they have an extra century of practice and experience under their belts. ]
... And, um... this is probably gonna sound even more fake, but you like us? And we like you? We're friends!
no subject
Best in the world? [There's just no hiding the excited smile that stretches across her face, long ears standing up tall.] That's no surprising. We're pretty awesome.
[Friends though? That's.... That's too much.] Even all those weird adults we live with? Like, you're not so bad for a nerd, I guess, but... How can we all trust them?
no subject
You're weird adults, too. Not right now, but, y'know, normally. You've had a lot of time to become friends, I think.
[ There's a pause, and when Angus speaks up again, his tone is a bit softer. ]
... I know it might not seem like it, but not all adults are jerks.
no subject
Lup falls into a brief moment of quiet as Angus leads her forward, her gaze drawn ahead of them, eyes flickering from here to there in search of anything that might show her where her twin is hiding. And when she finally speaks again, it isn't with the same bravado she's kept up for most of their interaction.]
When we find Taako and go back to that house, will you like, stay with us?
[It's hard to trust anyone but Taako, but Angus is at least a little more trustworthy than a pack of strange adults.]
no subject
Of course, my room's next to yours.
[ ... Wait, no, that sounded way too blunt. The last thing he wants to do is brush off Lup's concerns when she's having a rare moment of sincerity, and has actually let down some of her guarded walls. ]
... I-I mean, I'd stay with you even if I didn't already live there, if you wanted! If you need anything, apart from my shoes, you can always ask me, okay?
no subject
[Angus looks her way and Lup's already look back ahead, avoiding his gaze, skinny arms crossing over her chest.
But there's a hint of relief against her dirty features, against the line of tension that's been running across her shoulders, that just would be impossible to miss. Let her be grateful in peace!!]
