What: The event log for the The Hope of a Child event

By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.

T-this doesn't belong to me... [A stuttering breath as more tears run down his cheeks.] I'm sorry... I sh-shouldn't have taken it.
no subject
It's fine if you have it. All the food here is created by Hope, so you can simply take as much as you need.
no subject
But... you don't have to pay? [He looks away, guilty.] Because I don't have money...
no subject
Here, anything you can find in a store is free, so there's no need to worry.

no subject
I'm sure. Would you like me to take you to a store and show you?

[Yusuke straightens back up onto his feet, leading him to the closest store. As he does so, he looks down at the boy.]
I'm Yusuke Kitagawa, by the way. It's nice to meet you. [He's partly being polite, but if he introduces himself, he'll at least be able to confirm his suspicions about the boy's identity.]
no subject
Ah! Manners.]
My name's Goro Akechi. It's nice to meet you too, Kitagawa-san. [He even bows his head respectfully to Yusuke.]
no subject
Things are difficult here, but you'll be all right. My friends and I can look out for you.
[...Assuming it's fine with Akira and Futaba. Even if it isn't, Yusuke won't just leave him here alone.]
no subject
[He looks a bit star-struck for a moment... before his brow furrows and he suddenly slouches over, curling in on himself.
Older kids... generally aren't very kind to him, so... even though Kitagawa-san seems nice... it could all just be a trick, right?]
no subject
[Yusuke looks at him askance. He's not always good at reading others, and with children that's a whole new layer of unfamiliarity, but he still doesn't miss that shift in mood, the move to a defensive posture.]
... But if you don't want to come, that's all right, too. I simply want to help.
no subject
...why?
no subject
I know what it feels like, to feel alone and unsure of who you can trust. Being dragged to an unfamiliar land is even worse. I wouldn't leave anyone else alone to suffer in that kind of situation.
no subject
So he says, quietly:]
Thank you.
no subject
But he says none of that, nodding quietly.]
You're welcome.
[Soon they arrive at a store, and Yusuke leads Akechi inside, giving the boy time to look around. The shelves are a little bare with Hope still recovering, but there's still more here than compared to just a few weeks ago.]
You see? There are no staff, and no prices upon the shelves. Everything here is provided for free.
no subject
He does notice the lack of prices and of anyone else around, but he still seems nervous. What if this is a trick...?]
Well, it's okay... I'm not really that hungry.
[...says the boy who just stole a bag of chips and then cried after having stolen...]
