By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

( maybe he'd been lucky to have run into yusuke first in such a state. or maybe it was something other than luck... either way, akira was grateful to have at least had some experience with how this curse seemed to work...

adjusting his glasses, he's quiet as he examined the offering, finally responding to that apology with a nonchalant— ) No thanks. They're not my favourite flavour.

[Slowly, he raises his head, expression openly confused. Slowly, he draws the bag back.]

U-um... [Maybe he doesn't work at the store? He frowns, a guilty look overtaking his expression.] ... it's not mine, though...

[jocoeur]

( that look... the expression in the eyes of this child... in that moment, it was almost difficult to believe what, and who, akechi would become. )

Hmm. ( crouching down, akira takes an exaggerated, almost comical look around the area—) I don't see anyone else around here who it might belong to, do you? ( but a future detective might not be so keen on that idea. so with a gentle smile, he follows up with— )

If you're hungry, you should eat.

[...he is hungry, but... he glances over at the nearby store, biting his lower lip.]

... I took it from there. [He admits, quietly.]

[jocoeur]

It's all right.

( he shifts his weight, glasses glaring over and with a completely stoic expression, adds— ) I take things from there all the time.

( is... is he serious?? )

You don't have to worry about paying them if that's what's bothering you, things are... different here. ( and maybe for some, like you little goro... better. )

[He startles a bit, eyes going wide at that admission. He sniffs, bringing a hand up to wipe at his face.]

But, stealing is bad, right?

Hmm. ( not a loaded question at all, that one... )

I'm not sure it's always as simple as that. ( and then— ) Have you ever heard the legend of Robin Hood?

[Akechi's face lights up like fireworks at the sound of one of his favorite heroes of all time, then dims again.]
