By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

What if she can't find me? What if I can't get home? I don't even know where I am.

[ "CEO?" Dany frowns faintly, but doesn't mention that the word isn't familiar. ]

This is Hadriel. ... You can't have just arrived. [ That isn't how the Door works, apparently. ] If your mother is here, then we'll find her. I promise.

[ She'll do everything that she can, at least. ]

There's no school here that I know of. Does anything here look familiar?

[He's never heard of it, and it shows on his face.]

But I did just get here. I've never seen it before. Though... I guess mom sometimes takes business trips and we go to different places. But...

[A worried pause on his part.]

She would have told me. Does this mean I'm.... I've been kidnapped?

[That last word sounds a bit panicked for sure. He's never heard of any Hadriel, he's never seen it on any map. Just what is this place?]

[ Best not to worry a child, if possible. Dany pauses, drawing a quiet breath as she thinks. ]

Think of it more as a dream. [ She explains gently. ] An adventure. Before long, you'll... wake, and things won't be quite as scary anymore. [ beat ] Until then, I'm happy to keep you company.

[His head tilts slightly in thought.]

Are you a fairy, then? [He asks with a bit of a smirk. He's being playful, if only to distract himself.] I bet you're one of those that guards little children, huh?

[If this is actually a dream, this is fine, then, right?]

A fairy? [ She's never heard of the word, but she does shake her head all the same, looking a touch amused. ] No; I'm human. I will look after you, though.

[ What kind of person would she be to let any of the children here come to harm? ]
