By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.

He takes an apple of his own while she calls, looking increasingly concerned as they end in failure.]
I don't know. Does this look like Michigan?
[Michigan he pronounces slowly and carefully, as though he's never heard it before.
Of course, he hasn't.]
no subject
No. It doesn't look like any part of Minnesota I've seen. There's not even any snow, which doesn't make sense for this time of year.
[She tries to figure out how far south she is and how she managed to get so far without remembering taking a trip.]
Do you know the address here? The city? State? Country?
...wow, I completely got the state wrong I must hang my head in shame
It doesn't snow very often in Tirion, so we have to go North to see it. Do you like snow? It's very pretty.
Makalaure says this place is called Hadriel, but he didn't say how we got here. It must be very far, though. Did you see the lights in the sky? Aren't they amazing? They're like really big stars!
they both start with M :)
[This time, it's her turn to pronounce a place name slowly]
Hadriel?
[She hasn't heard it before. There aren't many places she knows. At this point in her life, she's never left Minnesota.]
I don't know how we got here either. I did see two very bright lights. I thought I must have been imagining it, because it was so hot.
[It was the only way she could explain the two suns to herself.]
this is true
[He pauses that barrage of words, then thinks about it for a moment.]
Hadriel must be very far away, I can't see Telperion at all. Or Laurelin either.
Maybe a Maia brought us here?

I guess it's true what they say about Americans and geography, because I've never heard of any of those places. Unless you mean the Great Square of Pegasus? My dad and I use the constellations sometimes when we hunt so we don't get lost.
[She raises an eyebrow.]
A Maia? I don't know what that means.
[It sounds like someone's name to her, though she can't imagine even a kidnapper getting past her father and taking her from her home without him noticing.]
no subject
[A sad nod at that]
The man with the tattoos didn't know either, it's very funny. The Maiar are the Beautiful Ones, the spirits who serve the Valar. There's water Maiar and animal Maiar and crafter Maiar, so I think one of them could bring us here if they wanted to.

[She tries to imagine where he could be from, where he's never heard of America.]
The man with the tattoos? Is he here? A friend of your cousins?
[She tries to understand what he's talking about. Her first thought is it's some characters from a book, or tv, or the movies. She doesn't want to offend if it's something more.]
Spirits? Are they part of your religion?
no subject
[Shaking his head]
No, I met him by the pools. He must have been here for a long time though, because he said people were busy here with hunting and cooking and building.
[He gives a puzzled look at the question.] What's a religion?
no subject
[She smiles slightly, finding a bit of hope in his words.]
Hunting? My dad and I both hunt. Maybe this tattooed man knows my dad or has seen him.
[Abigail hesitates. He hasn't heard of America or religions. This is only getting stranger.]
Religions, you know like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhist, Hindu...People that all believe the same things and have the same traditions, like going to church and celebrating holidays and rules about what they can eat.
