By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

Minor DR2 spoilers

[Well, Komaeda could talk about how his parents were killed by a random meteorite. And all the people that got injured or died when he happened to be around. But opening up that much about him might put Yusuke in harm’s way…..or even get the guy to hate him.

So Komaeda keeps his mouth shut on that subject.

He is delighted though when Yusuke invites him to draw with them.]

Ah, I’d be honoured to! My drawing skills are terrible, though. [At least he’s correct about that.]

There's no need to worry about skill or technique if you're drawing for pleasure. But, I'll offer advice where it is sought.

[He's actually had fun seeing what the children come up with, and offering them guidance. They have a kind of uninhibited creativity and spontaneity lacked by most adults, and it's keeping them preoccupied, besides.

He takes the little girl back to the rest of the group, and though he doesn't have much left by way of materials, he does have a sketchbook left and some pencils to offer Komaeda.]

Here. If you wish for colours and paints, you'll have to ask the children nicely to share with you.

Well, if you insist. Thanks, Yusuke-kun! [It looks like it'd be quite relaxing anyway.

He gratefully takes the sketchbook and pencils and settles down. The only question is what would he draw?

Hmm.....maybe he could draw something symbolic! Something symbolising hope conquering the despair of the Null in this city. Yeah, he could try that.

It's probably going to turn out crap and very difficult to interpret but maybe Yusuke might appreciate the sentiment. Maybe.
