Event Log: The Hope of a Child

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the The Hope of a Child event
Where: All over the city!
When: January 23rd-Feb 1st
Warnings: Youths

By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you trip over a kid and die, please let us know here.

[Elena feels the slight rustling as he moves and grins. It's nice of him, even if it isn't really necessary.]

I'm Elena!

[She calls up from about halfway up the tree. She's making good time.]

Who are you?

I'm Lance.

[He offers in response, voice still raised so she can hear him but not shouting.]

Did you um, just sort of end up here too?

Yeah!

[She climbs faster now, excited by the idea that she's not alone in that.]

Did you like, wake up except you hadn't gone to sleep? And you know it's not a dream because even if it's weird, it's not weird like dreams are?

[She pops her head up as she reaches his branch.]

I think we time traveled.

Yeah exactly.

[It's nice but scary that she knows exactly what he means; at least he's not alone, but at the same time, it reaffirms that whatever happened was probably really serious. Although... Time travel isn't where his mind goes immediately.]

Time traveled? Why time travel?

[He's curious, if slightly incredulous.]

Don't you think that's what happened? How else did we get here?

[She waves an arm at their surroundings, holding on to the tree with her other hand.]

This doesn't look anything like my neighborhood, but there's not aliens or anything so I didn't go through a wormhole. So it's got to be time travel...but I don't know if I went backwards or forwards.

[Lance thinks about that for a moment, eyebrows furrowed.]

Well, I mean... Yeah, I guess that could be what happened, but isn't it more likely we just got like... Kidnapped, or something?

[Though he'd prefer the time travel explanation.]

Why would kidnappers dump us in a weird city and let us run around? They'd want to tie us up or at least lock us away somewhere.

[She speaks with the confident authority of someone who has been kidnapped many times.]
